Am relatively new to the state of Indiana..but am impressed by the quality of football talent in a "basketball state".  Some observations on some of the Wabash-DePauw posts I've seen on this site---

*Wabash does a great job of recruiting this state (hence some of the kids they are getting from Indiana). No question they do a better job in Indiana.
*Coach Creighton is solid---person, coach, recruiter..awesome.
*Will be interesting to see how Huff recovers from his shoulder surgery---will he really be 100%????
*Don't underestimate the Depauw recuriting class...Bock Rohrer (Cathederal) recently committed---undersized but a tough, solid player; I've also heard unconfiremd) that Jimmy Roesinger (Cathedral) has bypassed a chance to play baseball at Xavier and will head to DePauw---very quick, athletic WR/Special Teams player; and in Spud Dick (Lawrence Central), the Tigers get a kid who has the potential to be a super D III QB---small---but threw for 2,500 yards/22TD's last year (every snap under center---no shotgun) and led a senior-laden team to 11-1 record in '05 in Class 5A. When people like former Warren Central Coach Wright talk highly of a player...I listen...
Anyway---some ramblings----I enjoy the posts---keep up the great commentary! I hope to make my first Monon Bell game in '06!

I don't know about everyone else but I cant wait until Sep. for some football. My thoughts are that the NCAC is most likely coming down between Witt and Wabash again this year, but there will be no looking past the teams. I believe Wooster will be a lot better with their healthy qb, but that won't be enough. Allegheny will be MUCH improved and will make a strong run but again I don't think they have enough on both sides of the ball. OWU will be okay again this year. Wabash has a lot of talent coming back on both sides of the ball, and so does Witt so I think it is going to be a battle. Just look for Witt's D to come out a lot stronger this year and of course Murray is coming back with a solid O line, but the qb stop is a question. Any thoughts on the coming up season?

I'm not sure if the Kenyon and CMS game is part of a home and home, but it looks like they could have a good dual swim meet matchup for both men and women that might make up for the second matchup.

Bishops SHOULD win the first 3 games of the '06 season. Many unknowns in the line, etc. I saw the start time for Franklin too, wally. Is that an old time zone thing? GO BISHOPS

Info on a new recruit for you Bishop fans. Brad Anderson, another Williamstown, WV stand out, decided to go to OWU over Witt, those were the two schools that recruited him and he narrowed his choices down to. Brad is a WR, 6-01, 159 lbs., and runs the 100 meters at 11.25. OWU also wants him to run track but he wants to concentrate on football. I hope to see the WV connection make an impact in the next few years. Does anyone have any other OWU recruit info? Goooooo Bishops!

Ryan Kerney who will be attending Wabash next year and playing football pitched in sectional semi-finals last night and tossed a no hitter.  Don't know if he intends on playing baseball or not but he has had a very good year this year as the #2 pitcher for North Posey this year.  I know his main focus is football but he is a very good athlete overall.  Just thought I would share some accomplishments of a future Wabash College Little Giant.

Each NCAC school will play three non-conference games this fall.  The 2005 records of non-conference schools show that only Wittenberg and Wabash will play non-conference opponents with aggregate winning records last year.  (Of course, last year's records don't reveal everything, but they may provide a rough estimate of the strength of non-conference schedules and prospects for non-conference success.)  Here are the conference schools with the combined last year's  records of opponents in parentheses:  Allegheny (14-17), Denison (9-21), Earlham (12-18), Hiram (9-21), Kenyon (7-22), Ohio Wesleyan (9-21), Oberlin (12-19), Wabash (17-12), Wittenberg (25-8), Wooster (14-16). So, who might show early-season success?  Kenyon, OWU. Early serious challenges, maybe:  Allegheny/Washington & Jefferson; Wabash/Millikan; Wittenberg/Capital, Dayton; Wooster/John Carroll

It's good to have that Millkin game in the mix early.
Wabash Always Fights!

Superfoot Wallace

Not sure if Wallick is back for Millikin this year or not, I'll have to do a bit of research, but Wabash has a pretty stiff test there.

For those who were around when Wabash first came into the league, Millikin runs pretty much the same offense Witt was running, at least on the ground, before the advent of the spread option in Springfield.

Wallick might be one of the biggest and most powerful backs in D3 and the CCIW is a tough conference, though I dont think theyre overly familiar with the point guard ICAC-type offense.  Could be a real barn burner.

Congrats to Wabash ILB Adi Pynenberg (only a Junior) in being selected as a pre-season 1st team All American in Lindy's 2006 College Football Preview.  I could not find the link on Lindy's site but this is from the Bash site - http://www.wabash.edu/sports/home.cfm?pages_id=5&news_ID=3610 - they also have Wabash ranked #25.

Greetings to all,

I have finally crawled out from under my rock to put up a quick Sutton update.  For anyone who is interested, word is that on Tuesday Sutton will be signing with the Cineplexx Blue Devils out of Austria.  For any of you who can speak/read German, http://www.blue-devils.at/, here is a link to their site.

Welp, back to my hole!

Let's go Scots, Let's go Blue Devils!

unfortunately for wabash and the entire CCIW slate Wallick is in fact back at the 7.5 yds deep spot for the Big Blue. he is a big, fast bruiser and they will run him relentlessy. I for one am tired of watching him play. fortunately neibhur fancies himself a Bill Walsh type and can't see himself running the ball every play so he formations people and tries to throw with bad qb's. I can't recall millikin's defense much other than their starting corner is pretty good. they are athletic on defense and big and tough on offense.

would love to see this matchup.

wally_wabash

Sounds like a strength on strength game to me.  Millikin has a running back that they need to rely on while Wabash's defense relishes the opportunity to shut down a running game.  Wabash is annually among the best rush D's in the nation.  It's a classic "something's gotta give" matchup.

BashBacker...Can you offer any info on Wabash QB recruits? I read about Melind from Broad Ripple...put up some good numbers...but I never saw him play...and how good is the kid from Naples? Thanks..
