Bashbro - good questions, will ponder and then post.

Witt scrimmages Muskingum on Thursday afternoon/night.  Any word on their QB battle?  Will it be the rookie?

Pretty good article (8/16) on Wabash camp from the Crawfordsville Journal Review... http://www.journalreview.com/main.asp?SectionID=5&SubSectionID=28&ArticleID=23571&TM=36327.26

Kickoff in a couple of hours...I'm like a 6-year old on Christmas morning.  Is anybody else frantically refreshing their email box waiting for the green light on this thing?   :)

WOOSCOT:  Of those on the sideline, only one injury seems to be of concern and that is said to be back related and as we all know, you don't mess around with a back injury.  Other than that, the team seems to be in better health than this time last year.  The first year players are bringing some good size and some very good speed.  Their numbers are strong, which should assure a competitive program for a few years to come.  The great weather for the scrimmage and the shorter than usual length, seemed to leave the players healthy and confident.

Nice job to the SID group for posting the online media guide.  Wally - you'll have smoke coming out of your ears with this information.   ;D

It must just give you a warm fuzzy, if you are a  Dannie, to know your administration now believes your footbasll team is being "adequately managed".  Especially when that dastardly mis-manager who came before could only muster a 7-2 record and co-conference championship his first (and last) year.

Now why do you suppose the above article appeared in "The DePauw" on 8-19-06?  Is something just not adequate in Dannieland?

Major kudos to Brent Harris. Great job on the media guide. Being over 1000 miles away from campus I never get to read the media guide. Thanks, Brent. Great job!

Wabco,

I can assure you this Tiger has never experienced a warm or fuzzy feeling towards any person in the DPU administration.  While I can't speculate for others, I'd put money that many feel the same way.  The quote in The DePauw article merely gives another piece of evidence of this administration's mismanagement.

Nevertheless, the football team has performed well in spite of the turmoil caused by botched "national searches" to replace Coach Nick.

Now that these seniors are on their fourth head coach in as many years, I think they have built up enough scar tissue to handle it well.  They have seen the leadership of each senior class before them and now it is their time to grow into that role.  They know what is expected of them in this situation and they know what needs to be done.  We will see how well they learned from those who went before them.

I look forward to seeing you boys in C-ville when all this meaningless talk can be set aside while we see how the two teams stack up!

In all seriousness, no B.S., you're absolutely right.

I just have to think that there is only so much the players can take. And you have to think recruiting is going to suffer, too.

Please understand I wasn't ragging on the Dannie football players.  Year in and year out, the game is the best one ... regardless of record to that game date.

I was just amazed at how disfunctional the relationship seems to be within the DePauw administration with the football team.  (A team which provides to the school student recruiting of quality and numbers, brings positive reflection upon the school of a student and an athlete the way it should be, and provides a vehicle for cohesive enthusiasm and enjoyment for the student body.)

I really want to beat you guys ... but you (and your coaches ... except the one who stole our signals) do not need to be fragged by your own administrative leadership.  "Adequately manage" ... give me a break.

Wabco,

I understand your comments and I just wanted to make sure you know that there are DPU football alums who are frustrated/disappointed/upset with the administration as well.  In my case, it is not just this debacle that has caused this frustration.  In fact, I'm only half-surprised at the events since Nick retired.

I have previously stated that the DPU football program deserves so much more than what the administration gives it and I still feel that way.

Nevertheless, it is time to support Walker and the Tigers 100%.

Which I find to be entirely adequate.   ;)

Buckle up ... word has it Howlett Stadium will have seating for 12,000 on November 11 ... when the Little Giants administer a quite adequate thumping to you Dannies.  Be sure and get a ticket when they come out ... I believe they will sell out and none will be available at the gate.  Hope we set a new attendance record for the game.  The tailgates for both DePauw and Wabash were great in 04.  The event was electric (as you come to expect).

Next question ... why don't you guys get out of that conference you are in and focus on the NCAC or the conference Wash U, Chicago etc. are in?  Cut way down on the travel (except to Allegheny).

kreds  Will Selby be ready for the scrimmage or is it at ODU?  Is it Saturday.

Thanx

Speaking of DePauw, their roster is finally posted.  Only 32 Frosh from all over MO, OH, IL, etc.  I noticed 2 QBs (Freshmen) - Spud Dick (5'11" 190) which we all hope wins the starting job and a kid from IL named Brad Paus (6'3" 195) who threw for 2000+ and 23 TDs last year (UCLA's starter is Cory Paus from IL but a different school - I wonder if they are related?  Maybe a good get for them.  I'd think a Frosh would have a good shot at getting the nod.

You'd have to think that 4 coaches in 4 years would eventually catch up to them.  As Wally has said, this may be the year it really shows.  They do have some good guys returning...Hertel DE, Marks ("best back in all of Division III" to average 1.6 yards per carry in the '05 Bell game), Sylvester DB, Berigan DB, etc.  It would seem they have a lot of holes though.

Wabco - have you had Martinis today (for lunch) or what...what would Fran Hollett do if she knew you spelled their name...Howlett Stadium...

Any camp updates?  Witt scrimmaged Muskingum today/tonight - I wonder how that went???

Mr. Ypsi

There used to be TWO boards for 'best names', but they both appear to have been scrubbed.  Spud Dick may compel the reopening of such a board! ;D
