BB ... you are correct ... I am in trouble ... do not tell Fran.  Was in a hurry and not paying the attention I should.  No martinis at lunch ... very bad.  Not adequately managed at all.  What would spud dick do?  And speaking of players ... any Ben sightings down at Kenyon yet this year?

If anyone is going to the Red/White game a report would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Grizzlies I bet beat wabash this year?

Could this be a little in state rivalry?

That's probably not a good bet, Grizz.

In-state rivalry?  Unfortunately, it's not happening.  The NCAC and the UAA entered into a scheduling agreement last season which will kick in in 2008. Once that happens, Wabash's non-conference schedule is effectively locked up with DePauw and two UAA teams every year for the duration of the agreement.  It's too bad because I think a 4-year series with an up and coming Franklin team would be pretty fun.

wabash does not want any of the grizzlies!

Here's an interesting tidbit....Franklin plays their football games in Stewart "Red" Faught Stadium.  Could there be a more aptly named place for a Wabash road opener?  How red can "Red" Faught Stadium be?  I think we're going to find out on the 9th.

Grizz,

I would love for you and Victory Bell to treat the Wabash faithful on this board to some pizza and TWR at the Willard after the Little Giants punish Franklin.

For those who haven't checked it out and anybody who is new and wants to get in on the action....the first week's games for 2006 NCAC Pick 'Em are posted.  The pick 'em board is over on the General Football board...I trust you can all find it.  Good luck!

That's unfortunate that we have to lock in with one conference.  I always enjoyed the competition we had with the MIAA schools.  How long are we locked in with the UAA?

wally_wabash

Officially, it's a two-year agreement (for the '08 and '09 seasons), but unofficially it seems like this is a deal that could carry on for quite some time.  We'll have to wait and see what happens when teams want to start scheduling beyond 2009.

BashBacker#16

LilGiant & Wally,

Just back from the Red & White today.  Unfortunately I missed the first part.  Huff and the 1s looked sharp and moved the ball.  I think Huff was 8 for 9 and hit guys in stride with was nice to see.  The WRs were very sharp - Russell stood out in a major way and had a burst after the catch on several plays.  Billy King had some nice runs and a nice surprise is Bobby Kimp - he ripped off a 80 yarder on a counter.  No injuries to note which is good.  I missed the 1 D but heard they flew all over the field and looked solid.  Lange was in the backfield several times too.

2 weeks yet and a lot of guys dinged up which I believe is par for the course this time in the season.

Oh ya, the kicking game still has some issues - there were a couple of ugly FG segments marked with inconsistency.  However, the kickoffs were excellent and very deep and high - Oehler handled most of those - he's a straight on guy that has a strong leg.

Hope that is a decent snapshot.  I would bet that next week we will see more of the 1s and 2s and get a better look.

Thanks for the report BB16. It all sounds pretty good, except, of course, the kicking game. Hopefully that improves.
