Yes, the pink endzones will be sorely missed by the league I'm sure.  I know I'll miss them.  It just won't be the same on a hot September afternoon without the smell of hot plastic resonating into the stands.

I wonder if the new field is as much of a sponge as the old one.

97 or not, a victory over Witt for a Wooster fan is always relevant!

I love it...Wooster fans cracking on Bash fans...Witt fans bashing Wooter fans...Wabash fans criticizing Witt fans.

Whatever ever happened to the guy whose son was going to OWU to play football this year?  What was his name?  I'm curious to get an update on how he and his son view the competition thus far in DIII.

Wooscot -

All we are missing is a Hiram fan cracking on a Kenyon fan...then we would have total chaos on the board.
Why should you go for it on 4th down?

One should not exclude Earlham and Denison from the chaos either...or the Yomen.

wooscot

bashbrother, seriously.  I can't wait for the Oberlin fans to call out the Earlham fans....wait a minute...does either school have football fans? ???

Au - that was me and it was "broad brushes" - not "broad strokes". I'm not touching the latter with a 10-foot pole!  ;D

If anyone finds themselves in the area of the Kenyon football happening on Saturday ... make sure you are able to provide us with a "Ben sighting" and description of any "Ben highlights/faceplants" and the like.

Does anybody remember the year Earlham started 3-0 by playing cupcakes and all we heard in here was how we just didn't get it and the "The Quake" was gonna take over the NCAC?   Don't know if that happened before the Wally's joined the conference but I'm hoping at least a few Woo posters remember that.  The Gunn brothers were revered as gods for 3 weeks that year by the Earlham faithful.  Actually, I think they were all players.  What I remember most about playing Earlham that year was being up 63 points, knocking one of their WR's down and then having him get up and talk s**t to me.  If championships were won by talking smack Earlham might've won the Big Ten and the Rose Bowl that year.  Great memory now that I think about it.

That was also the same game that we got yelled at by Hrovat for having "our butts up our a$$es".

wooscot: The Bishop in question is - kcreds. His son is a frosh at OWU. The kid (jr) did get some PT last week too. wabco; I feel as though I know Ben, somehow I want to believe that he is playing in the semi-pro's in Wilmington, NC, moonlighting as a bartender/surfing instructor. I miss Ben.

wooscot

Ah, the Gunn brothers.  It feels like so long ago.  I remember the constant smack talk...of course, that faded once the powers of the NCAC started whomping on them like clockwork.

The Gunns, with their puffed up tackle stats as well. I think they got assists for jumping on the pile.

No kidding!  Didn't one of them have something like 200 tackles one year?

Oh yeah, I read Tyrell Sutton rushed for over 100 yds in his NW debut.  I guess my pipedream of him following in his brother's footsteps at Wooster is officially dead.  One can dream, can't he?

Question to ponder - Doesn't Urban Meyer's offense strangely resemble Mt. Union's? offense,?  Shotgun aside, the plays, the option fakes, etc... all seem to share common threads with Meyers and I know coach Kehres had developed his before Meyer's.

Some week 2 musings...

- Welcome to the 2005 season, Wabash and Kenyon.  It's going to be nice to see all 10 NCAC teams in action on Saturday.  It'll be even nicer if we can win 7 of those games (I think we can).

- I think top tier DI-AA non-scholly's playing DIII teams is a waste of everybody's time.  I have no idea what Dayton is going to get out of this.  The only thing Witt gets out of this is their name on the ESPN crawl tomorrow night.  It would be a shame if either team suffers an injury because of this mess.  I understand the regional interest, but I have a hard time believing Witt can't find a D-III game that has similar interest.  I hope the $$ was worth it.

- I think I'm intrigued to see how Kenyon fares.  Their numbers are up, they have a very good RB, and they seem to have steered that program away from the catastrophe that was looming in 2003.  I hope they can be competitive against Centre this weekend.

- OWU's first test on the road...we'll get an idea of how legit OWU can be with must-have NCAC games coming up on the road (Witt and Allegheny).

- MacMurray Highlanders vs. Wooster Scots...no shoes, no kilts, no service.  :)

Good luck on Saturday!

Just figured out Hiram's problems ... or at least one of them ... their REAL NAME was/is:  "Western Reserve Electric Institute".  Now how would YOU like to be a Western Reserve Electric Institute Bulldog?

And I think one of the Gunns changed his name to Ben and is now faceplanting at Kenyon.
