Unless those heels were not regulation length, causing woo to have to forfeit   ;)

I almost forgot all about the "Sh!t on Witt" Trophy.  This, of course, goes to the winner of bash woo!

No offense is meant...it is a hatred that comes from winning only twice in about 50 years!

On second though, take as much offense as you wish! ;)

I don't know why more college teams wear socks, either.

I agree.  I think pulling the socks up adds a little something extra.  I know the team with best uni's in all of sports (UofM) pulls navy socks up when the weather gets a little on the cold side and they just look sweet up against the maize pants.

I have to agree, that adding black, or any other color, to a uniform is unacceptable.  Tradition is a very important part of any program, and team colors/uniforms are a big part of tradition.  I would have to say that when D1's add colors, it most likely has to do with the nike, addias, or whoever wants to get a new look out on the market.

Good points.  All the big name shoe companies care about is selling more jerseys and the more alternate color choices available, the more jersys are sold.  Personally, I think this blows up in their faces more times than not.  Just look at those hideous alternate bi-color sleeve jerseys VaTech and UF tried to pull off last year.  I haven't seen those back in action yet.  And don't get me started on the 157, give or take 35,  different versions of Oregons Arena League uni's.  These are just to name a few.  Personally, give me tradition any day of the week.  Obviously, I'm partisan being a Michigan fan, of tradition.  Even my alma mater, Westminster PA, has kept tradition going in their unis going with the fairly simple but classy PSU look (navy jersys trimed in white with white pants) with the only exception being a blue W on the helmet as opposed to PSU's all white helmets.  I'm one of those fans where tradition means almost as much as perfomance.

I don't know if yo usaw, I beleive it was College Gameday that voted the Big Ten as the best conference for unis, due to the tradition factor.  I believe the worst was the Pac 10, just because of Oregon.

I have always believed the Big Ten has the nicest unis.  in D1.  This past weekend I was looking at the NCAC unis.  I have to say I like the look of many.  Hiram went to just the number on the helmet.  Gheny has just the A.  OWU, Bash, Earlham...I think there are alot of nice looking Unis around the NCAC

This wasn't exactly news.
Apparently I need to know who you know.

I'm a lawyer. I have friends who are lawyers in Indiana. There have been whispers of this coming for at least a month. I won't tell you much else. Sorry.

Quote from: DarkSide-D on October 24, 2006, 09:02:24 AMI just wanted to make a comment about the comments made regarding the comments on uniforms.  I think that was a legitimate conversation for anyone who cares about their schools tradion.  Wabash has a great tradition.  As do many programs in the NCAC (even oberlin and Denison).  For many fans, this tradition is just as important as how the team plays on saturdays.  In high school, my team's colors were black and orange.  My senior year some wise ass (coach) thought it would be great to add silver.  We basically looked like the Ohio State Buckeyes, only substitute orange for the scarlet.  How would wooster fans feel if all of a sudden the team came out wearing scarlet?  Maybe turned in the all black unis in for gold? I know my reaction...I'd puke!

The classic programs in college football all have a pretty standard uniform tradition. Think Alabama, Penn State, Michigan, Texas etc. Changing unis every few seasons erodes that.

As stated by unknowme and ScotsFan it has a lot to do with the shoe companies. Look at the mismatched sleeve monstrosities that Nike brought out for Florida and Va. Tech last year. Or the yearly barrage of hideousness that they put on the backs of Oregon's football team.

And it's not just them. UnderArmour is breaking into the uniform biz and made Texas Tech's unis look like something out of the Arena League or the CFL.

My whole point is our uniforms looked great the way they were before. Why mess with a good thing?

Homecoming is over. That's it for transvestitism at football games this year.

all kidding aside, i think the Wabash folks are ready and able to put a big hurtin' on the Scots..."coach em up" actually means something...

We were ready and able to put a big hurtin' on Franklin.  And Millikin.  And OWU.  And Allegheny.  And Witt.  It just hasn't panned out that way this year.  I'd love to see Wabash put an '02 sized whoopin' on the Scots this Saturday, but I've seen enough now to not expect that.  Wooster is the best defense (statistically) Wabash will have seen so far this year.  Wabash is outscoring opponents 142-40 in the first half this year.  As long as the Scots can withstand the early flurry (no reason to think they won't...everybody but Earlham and Oberlin has this year), they should have a chance.

Wooster definately needs to keep it close early.  Not only is Wabash quick out of the gates, but Wooster has been slow out of the gates all season.  Wooster has scored almost as many points in the 3rd quarter this season as they have in the 1st two quarters combined (79 3rd quarter points to 93 1st half points).   This stat doesn't bode well for the Scots.  But, Wabash has also been known to let teams back into games in the 2nd half.  It's just a matter of whether or not the Scots can keep it close enough in the 1st half.  Persnoally, I don't have a good feeling about Wooster's chances.  Wooster's defense has been stingy for certain, but they haven't faced an offense as explosive as Wabash's either.  The only chance Wooster has is if the defense can keep it close because I wouldn't be counting on Wooster's offense to keep pace with Wabash in a shootout.

Yeah, just go down the line in the Big 10 and you have some of the most traditional unis in all of football.  Michigan, PSU and OSU are definately at the top.  Wisconsin's haven't changed much over the years.  Purdue with the black and old gold.  Heck, I can't think of one team in the Big 10 that screams out as a bad uni.  The Pac 10 I can think of about 3 (Oregon, Cal and Wash. St) that bring their rankings waaaay down, even with the tradion of USC and UCLA.

I too agree that I like the look of most of the NCAC's unis.  I've always been a fan of Wooster's all black home look.  It's just intimidating as hell to see this all black mass strolling down the hill arm in arm!  I was glad to see Allegheny go back to their more tradional unis as well.  All in all, I can't really think of any NCAC shool that I totally dislike their unis.

Agree with ScotsFan on the Pac-10 - Oregon is outrageous, with those dirty-mustard jerseys of Cal's very close behind.  BTW, SF, nice Avatar - remember when Bell's first introduced that brew as "Summer Solstice?"

Thanks c2b.  Yes I do remember those days.  My sister is a Hope College Alum and she lived up in Holland year around.  I would go visit her in the summers and that is when I was introduced to Bell's Summer Solstice.  At that time, the only way for me to get it was by either going to visit her or by her bringing me some.  Now, thank goodness, it is pretyy readily available all over NE Ohio and there's even a bar here in Wooster that has it on tap all summer long! :)  Now that summer's over, 'tis the season for me to enjoy one of my other favorite brews:  Great Lakes Christmas Ale.  Hoooraaay Beer!!! ;D

Anything would be an improvement over the blood clot unis that channel the 1976 Cleveland Indians.

Since the Daily Dose gave the OK to start playoff speculations, did anyone ever find out what the NCAC tie-breaker(s) are?  Or did I miss a post a while back?
