22-6.  Nice.  I like Allegheny's chances next Saturday more and more every day.

Wabash wins, is playing their best football of the season, Witt is struggling at the right time, Depauw is totally floundering....a lot of things are going Wabash's way right now.   :)

Being a Wabash fan, I would rather see the Little Giants make it to the play offs.  However, if not us, then Witt, who beat us heads up.  I really did not want to see the wusses from Gambier waltz in without playing Bash and Witt.  If they had played Bash and Witt and were the Conference champs, then so be it.  Bash had better keep their eyes on the prize and not pull another second half swoon in Buzzard Stadium next weekend.

You know, firstdown, that's really a low blow on Kenyon.  The conference tiebreak is set up such that teams with lower power rankings won't go in the case of even records.  And if Kenyon were to be the only zero-loss or one-loss team in the conference, they'd deserve to go regardless of who they did or didn't play.  The only way Kenyon was EVER going to go is if everybody else in the conference lost one more game than they did, and that would have been more than fair.

What's the need for the slam now that they've lost a second game anyway?  We're one win away from getting a share of our second straight conference championship....applaud that.

Wally & Co.,

For those of you at the game today, were you disappointed in the atmosphere?  Not for a typical D3 game but for a typical Wabash College game?  I don't know if it was the wind, the previous 2-3 days of excess rain, or what, but it didn't feel like a WabCol game today.  I also realize Purdue and IU were both at home today which hurts attendance.  I am not only focusing on the attendance (which was OK, not great) but more so with regards to the atmosphere.  A few things that I feel need addressed in a big way:

1)  What the hell do the Sphinx-ter's do any more?  NOTHING.  They stand on their buckets and have their back to the stands the entire game.  NO "eat zuchini" cheers - NO "blood makes the grass grow greener greener" cheers - NO "D-FENCE D-FENCE" - NO "Wabash Always Fights," it is pretty gross.  Why attend the game?  It used to be "cool" to participate in the games and help rally the crowd.  Now, they seem to be wrestling for the "Wally" outfit so no one will see their faces.  I don't get it.

2)  Do we not have a Pep Band any longer?  These guys used to totally jam out and it was a big boost in getting the crowd in to the game throughout the day.  What happened?  Hell, let's hire a group to play on Saturdays!  It would be money well spent for what they add.

3)  Where were all of the students & where were the pledge classes?

Just curious as to your thoughts.  Am I just too much of an old timer or what?

Since I am piling on...how gross were the field conditions?

On a bright note, I was very impressed with the win and am loving how our Hard Hat D is developing.  Huff was a stud less the 2 INTs.  I was pleased with our O-line's ability too minimize the hits on #4 throughout the day.  They had 2 sacks, we had 5 sacks.  With a win over Denison, first back-to-back NCAC champions in a long time!  Nice work.

I just walked back in from the ledge...way to go Gators in picking up steam for next week...Tarquinio with a big 160 yards in a solid win for Gheny.

After voicing my concerns about the atmosphere at Hollett Little Giant Stadium today (maybe I need to relax)...the Gators are showing 413 in attendance...wow, is that a misprint?

BB16,

I can only tell you that it sounded on the webcast like there was no crowd today. I can recall hearing the crowd over the broadcast ONE time: when Pynenberg tried to get the crowd pumped up and then made the tackle. That's it. The rest of the game sounded like it was a fall break game.

PS:

The box score lists the attendance as 4328. If that number is accurate I think about 3000 of them had laryngitis and no hands.

Yes, it was flat today all around - and the team was flat in the first half. I'm glad the team came out with fire in the third quarter - because if not then the crowd definitely wasn't going to get into it.

Allegheny is now my second favorite team in the NCAC...

As part of that jammin' pep band, I am glad to hear you say that.  I've been thinking it for years, that the pep band hasn't been worth a damn since the early 90's.  I can tell you we did our best to help keep things lively...heck, we even "marched" in Greencastle!  It's like any other student-run organization - it takes good leadership and a commitment.

Maybe it's time to put an alumni pep band together!  I'll just bring my saxophone to the Bell game and blow away the Dannie band!

ScotLass

First, congratulations to the Little Giants and Coach Creighton....they clearly came ready to play for a win.

On the long drive home, I initially graded out our defensive coordinator at a D- and our offensive coordinator at an F

BUT, suddenly I realized what the problem was: After last week's game, the band had a concert and the head football coach was the guest conductor. Apparently today, the Band Director was the offensive coordinator and the drum major was the defensive coordinator

FYI: Bad idea....the obvious inexperience at play calling really let the Woo players down.

It's true....Wabash Always Fights! And "Did Wabash Win?" Yes, Ralph "Sap" Wilson, yes indeed they did.

Go Allegheny!!!

When I was there (95-99) the Pep Band was strong, especially 98-99, our senior year. I remember the Pep Band going to Franklin during hoops season to play with Franklin's band against Depauw in their last game in the ICAC. That was strong.

The Pep Band is like any other activity at Wabash. The Bachelor, WNDY, the Pep Band all go through ups and downs. Good lord, is there even a yearbook anymore? There wasn't when I was there.

Anyway, I'm sure at some point the Pep Band will turn it around. They just need someone to lead.

Great win for Wabash and the Dannies lost again.  All is right in the world.
Why should you go for it on 4th down?

Wabash seemed out of sorts when the game started and took a good deal of time to recover ... the stand against Woo causing the FG.  The captains were waiting for the team under the stands and the team came out and huddled instead at the end of the field and then barely got the receiving team on the field in time.  I sart behind a senior paretn.  He said the fathers of seniors had been invited to the locker room just before the game and this somehow caused the coaches etc. to lose track of the time needed for the normal on field game prep ... i.e. they ran out of time and had to hurry.  Like having to hurry a put rather than the routine which provides the time to settle and execute.  This was followed by wind and a very crappy pass / interception.

Other than that ... Wabash put together a heck of a game ... against very bad field conditions:  very strong wind gusts and a field which can best be described as a groundskeeper's revenge.

Spud Dick appears to be on his way to becoming broke dick.  Wabash wins, Depauw loses.  The only thing which kept the day from being perfect was Witt won.  But Gheny can fix that defect next week.

The number of fans were there ... but don't know where the no show pepband was, the Spinx clubbers were an embarrassment, and I thought an awful lot of the students must have been early studying for finals.  Too bad ... they all missed a great game.

Get your tickets for DePauw.  Great taligates and we are going to paste one on the Dannies ... just one week after Gheny helps out a little.
