You can dish it out, BUT, you can also take it...*applause*applause* for your handling of wally day yesterday :-*

My advice to non Bash posters: toughen up a little and stick around a while....if what anyone says on here upsets you more than about 30 seconds, I do have to wonder how you manage to make it through real life ???

So you are saying OWU is a much better team than Witt because they beat Witt - right?

Or perhaps Witt had a bad day, OWU had a good day, many scenarios.  But if I go by what you say then OWU is a much better team than Witt.

I stand by what I said, Bash is a much better team, Witt lucked out against Bash and Woo, they both did not have a good day and the officiating favored Witt.

What you said does not make sense, anybody can beat anybody, - I don't think Denison is better than Kenyon but they beat them last week.

Where in my post did I say Witt was much better?  I didn't.  What I was trying to say, was that the two of them were more evenly matched than you believe and that if officiating was bad, then it could change the outcome of the game.  And as far as good days go, wouldn't it be possible for Witt to have caused them to have an off day?

Pretty good article on Wabash QB Dustin Huff...  You may notice the last 2 sentences...first time I have seen anything official - SWEET!

Good for him and Wabash!  Bad for the rest of the conference  :-\.  Who would have been his replacement?

GO TIGERS!!!

Somebody has to explain to me why a kid would stay an extra year to play ball...at approx 32G a year (w/o scholarships)...its time to move on to a job or further education (masters)...Im taking for granted he will graduate this May because it is Wabash and education is first...Anyway its not like an extra year will get you drafted, at least not at the D3 level...Jeez, I'm starting to sound like my Father..

I don't know anything specific to Huff's situation, like his major, for instance. But Wabash has a 9th semester deal for the students getting their teaching certificates. I'm totally speculating but he could have been planning on being around anyway for that semester.

Wally, BB16, didn't that happen to Jamie Bowers in 98? Didn't he do his teaching certificate deal and take his last year for football because he had lost a year to injury?

roadtrip...you have your whole life to move on.  You only have a certain window to play college football and if he can make it happen.....good for him!!

Ryder16

aww, he is staying another year, gthat means wabash will win the conference again NEXT YEAR... thats too bad

In all reality though, I dont know of too many guys who would not stay and play ball another year if given the oppertunity.  32k a year before scholorships according to you.  well... most people get scholorships, so take 10k a year off, about teh average scholorship or the people I know. more or less depends in family financial status, but we dont know that. so 22k a year

figure he will likely only stay a semester, either because of the 9 semester plan or because he is only staying to play ball. its only 11k assuming he is getting no other financial aid.  and with a NCAC education, that should not be a big problem to pay bakc in the next few years. Im sure if you went to kenyon, you could pay for it in the summer after your graduate, but even for the other Ncac schools, it still should not be an issue.

CUFan,

Excellent post & right on brother!  How much fun do you think Huff is having and if you can squeeze another year out of it...go for it.  I would think he has adjusted his class load to plan for the 9th semester.

LilGiant - it seems like Bowers was a 5th year guy but not certain.  Mike Funk came back and used his last year of eligibility in '89 catching 87 balls, Offensive POY in the ICAC, All American honors, etc.  There have not been many guys do that at Wabash - probably due to the costs.  Funk was also a Lilly Scholar (full boat!) so I am sure that helped his case.

If I had Russell returning (along with Rode, Green, Guererro, Banach & Co.) I'd come back too...  ;D

wally_wabash

Bowers did use the 9th semester...I can't remember if he had the eligibility because of an injury or because he missed a year due to studying abroad.  It was one or the other.  You guys are right though, it's not something that happens very often...you'll not see me shedding tears over this.  Huff has AA types of numbers this year...bring him back with all of his receivers, plus 10 starters on D (I'm counting Lange as a returning starter and assuming Gangloff/Morrison will shift over a spot to fill in for the graduating Schaffer) and Wabash is starting to look very experienced  and very good for next season.

But that's for next season...there's still business to take care of this year.

I for one am glad Huff can take advantage of using all of his elgibilty.  I only know a few individuals that went to Wabash for football only.  It just does not happen, but for Huff to get a chance to play 1 more season is exciting for him, and the rest of the Wabash fans.  If I'm not mistaken I believe Nick Hajjar(Woo) came back for a 5th year in 2003.  As always.

WABASH ALWAYS FIGHTS!

wally_wabash

It happens...Hajaar played a fifth year.  Rummell is working on his 8th year of eligibility.  I think Murray has been in school for about 6 years now.  There are always a handful of guys around the league who come back for an extra year.

Isn't Hertel at DePauw (DE) another 5th year guy?

Witt LB - Goldsbury
Witt Punter - Jacob Thomas
Witt QB - Holmes

...all 5th year guys.

I didn't even play a sport and I didn't want to graduate. Too much beer to drink for graduation.  :D
