"Justin Rummell was 22-for-28 passing for 476 yards and seven TDs for Earlham"

I may have mentioned a week ago that I did not think he was the best in the NCAC.  :-\   Yes it was against Manchester, but that is a good day against anyone.  He's still not the best in my opinion, but I will upgrade him to 'damn good'.  How 'bout that?

Why should you go for it on 4th down?

Great pic, fanfave.  A good friend I played with back in the day happens to live next door to CJ in Cincy.  Talk about an entourage.

Good win by the Little Giants. The passing game looked great and would have been even better except for a couple of drops. The defense seemed stout and Don Juan showed me something today.

If nothing else, the Earlham / Wabash homecoming game ought to be a hoot!

I still say Wooster's quarterback is still suffering from the game last year against Carthage in playoffs in some ways. It looks like he is a little gun shy. I know they do not have Sutton anymore. But at least they had a bit of a running game yesterday.  Although when they play conference teams it may disappear again.  Also, a friend at OWU says the wing-t they use there has no real inside running game, all outside with scatback like runners going east and west.. Their leading rusher against Theil had only 40 yards and they always throw on third and short. But it sounds like a real fun game to watch at Thiel yesterday. And I think Witt is still the team to beat this year. Even without their quarterback they have the most talent in the league.  Go Scots. Bring on the bag pipes!!!!!!!!!!!

Congrats to the winners of the NCAC this week.  Its surprising that out of the four, two were Oberlin and Earlham.  For those that lost, Gheny, OWU, and Witt seem to have all put on a good fight.  That says alot about the caliber of players on each team.

Wooster had a good showing against MacMurry.  Unfortunately, the score can not show what I feel to be the story of the game.  MacMurry was poorly disciplined IMO.  In the third quarter, during an injury timeout, nearly all of MacMurry's players on the sidelines were sitting on the bench.  Granted this was during a timeout, but I have never seen, on any level (hs, college, pro) where nearly everyone was sittin on their a$$es during a game (I have seen ppl taking a knee, but never flat out sittin down).  There were many other examples of poor discipline on the part of the Highlanders.

As for Wooster, the defense showed real guts when a number of times MacMurry was in fourth and short situations, only to turn the ball over.  Can anyone tell me why a coach would go for it on fourth down, when it is early in the first half, and the ball is inside his own 15???  Poor coaching in my opinion.

Offensively, the Scots looked good.  Amil Tinsley showed that he can be a force, and Anderson proved to be a fine compliment.  The two completely different running styles of these two guys will keep defences guessing.  ( I did not say that they will burn up the opposing teams, mind you.)  Schafer looked better this week.  His elbow still seems to be bothering him a lil bit (No, he is not feeling the effects of Carthage last year...two completely different injuries).  A few times I saw the ball hit his intended mark in the hands, only for the reciever to drop the pass.   Oh yeah, How about that Dave Miller kid??  For someone who has bounced around positions (a fullback last year) he really impressed me with his abilities at reciever.

With all that said, the Scots made a vast improvement from last week.  However, they are still a distance away from where they need to be to make another run for the title.  The postition they are in, though, is a prime one for jumpinig up and biting some teams who are overlooking them.   IMO.

Let's go Scots, have a great bye week and get healthy.  Then off to Case to break in their new stadium with a nice firm A$$ kicking.   ;)

So, Smed.... fiddy?  You gonna pull that one out again this season? :)

Darkside-D, i agree with the discipline and the inane call to go on 4th down when Wooster was only leading 10 to 0...question, with that long of a trip, did Macmurray come in the Friday night?...

Go bash - only in blowouts, and seeing our schedule at home probably three more times if I'm lucky. But I had to do it for a player, and not a yard line, because I didn't think K-Zoo would get to the fiddy again.

I want to take this opportunity to thank Brent Harris and Howard Hewitt. There are two articles and a plethora of photos from yesterday's game on the Wabash website.

Of the other teams in our conference only Earlham and Wooster had photos from their games, and each only had one. I realize not all of them played at home, but we have some serious coverage to follow for those of us that aren't close enough to actually attend games and it is very much appreciated.

Scotty,

My sources tell me that Macmurry did in fact stay the night in Wooster friday night.

I saw in the news paper the other day a picture of Case's new stadium.  It kinda reminds me of a Wabash setting, surrounded by buildings, in this case brand new dorms.  Are there any dennison hopefuls out there that were at the game on saturday that could give comparisons.  Just interested.

Lil' Giant,

Usually Woosters web site has really good action stills of the teams games.  Unfortunately, those photos do not get added in their own section until later in the season.  Its pretty cool to see some other schools starting to get into the action of posting game pictures, even better that they are posted so soon!

Li'l Giant

Yeah. We're clearly spoiled. Plus, I was hoping to see some photos of Gheny's new unis.
