Cap people are going to catch OSU-Mich, figuring they can catch Capitol next week. Go Witt!!

I wonder how many Witt fans will skip the game for the Mich/OSU game. Maybe if Cap fans are skipping this week's game Witt has an opportunity to take the home crowd advantage away.

As an outside observer, that sounds like wishful thinking!  Cap fans can attend the game and still make it to OSU (or home to watch OSU).  Witt fans are more likely to have to make a choice.  If there is an effect on fans, I'd say Cap probably comes out ahead.

When I have time  I will go into Hiram's record books and add up their record this century, or maybe the last fifty years. It just amazes me that a team could be so bad so long.
Oh yeah, good luck Witt from a Fighting Scot guy. Cap I would think is alittle overconfident, judging from their posts on their d3football site.

Drawing a team that hasn't been within 5 touchdowns of me in the last three years and not within 7 touchdowns of me earlier this year would make me pretty confident too.  Capital really has to lay one of the biggest eggs in D-III Championship history to not advance this weekend.

I want to take this opportunity to wish Witt the best of luck this weekend.

I know it wasn't a stretch but I did say all along whoever won the Witt vs. Wabash game was going to the playoffs. I just wanted to get in a I told you so. My stock doesn't seem to be very high so I'm trying to increase it. I'm sure my stock will crash if I pick Witt over Capital so I'm not going to make that prediction. I have to agree with whoever posted it, the top 3 maybe more OAC teams are better than the top NCACers. I do however have faith that Wabash and Witt will change that in the near future.

My 200th post is going to be a special one, GO BUCKS! BEAT THAT TEAM UP NORTH!

I wish.  Witt people are so overly devoted to OSU that you would think the place was Ohio State-Springfield campus instead of Wittenberg University.  Maybe the players' parents and some other members of the Springfield community will make the trip, but aside from myself and a few others, I don't know of ANY students heading over.

Anyway, here's to hoping the Tigers can at least make it interesting - go Witt!!

You know, way back when they were deciding locations for the state capital and ultimately the location of OSU, Springfield was at the top of the list. ;)

GO TIGERS!!!

This has always been a big pet peeve of mine. The university I went to for law school had this same problem. I never saw anything but Texas and Texas A&M shirts/hats etc. My girlfriend is a grad student at a branch school of UT and she reports the same thing.

I understand not everyone really chooses their college because it's great. Sometimes people go there for other reasons (budget, proximity to home/work, particular degree programs, etc.) But at least have a little spirit for the school you did go to. My girlfriend does this all the time. She hates the school she went to for undergrad and if you didn't look at her diploma you'd never know she went there.

I'm not saying it's that bad at Witt; I have no idea. But not having at least SOME spirit for your school and putting it in a school you didn't even attend seems pretty weak to me.

The Michigan/OSU game is going to be a great game but seriously, Tivo it and go see your own damn school play!

Oh, and I'll also take this opportunity to wish the Tigers good luck.

Finally, someone who agrees with me!

Plus, if everyone else in the nation keeps dropping, we'll be seeing this game again in about a month and a half ...

In my opinion that would be a disaster. I don't think the current system is set up to have rematches and have them be fair. If Texas had not peed down their leg at Kansas State I don't think they'd deserve a shot at OSU. Florida or USC would.

What if Michigan wins Saturday, and Notre Dame ends up #2? Don't we already know what happened with that? (ugh, and would the earth open up and swallow both teams?) Why wouldn't Florida or USC deserve a shot?

This system sucks. Next Thursday at the table surrounded by family and food we should bow our heads and be thankful that at least our D3 national champion is decided by a playoff.

USC/Notre Dame will play themselves in or out of the discussion.  The winner of that game has a chance.  In resoponse to your question above why have a Michigan/ND rematch.  Well USC would not be an option because they would have lost to ND.

Li'l Giant

Well, Cal could have something to say about that as well. Or Florida. Or Arkansas. My point was that absent a playoff system rematches really don't seem fair to me.

It seems that what happened last year, where the only two undefeated teams meet and there isn't any argument about anyone being left, is the exception and not the rule. If the system gets is wrong more than it gets it right, we need a playoff.

An ND/OSU championship game would be equally as bad as an OSU/UM rematch.  ND has been slaughtered by both of these teams in this calendar year.  There's no need for a repeat.

But alas, OSU/UM part II could be happening.  The sequence of events to make sure this happens is not unthinkable:
- USC loses to Cal
- USC beats ND
- Arkansas loses to LSU
- Florida loses to Arkansas (SEC Championship)

These are all very reasonable outcomes.  And at the end of all of this, the only one-loss teams left are the Michigan/OSU loser and the Big East teams, of which WVU will be ranked highest (if they beat Rutgers).  Is there any doubt that the Michigan/OSU loser should be considered the best team left of this group?

That having been said, I loathe the idea of an immediate rematch in the title game of two teams that just played one another.  Most of me wants to make sure this doesn't happen...but part of me wants it to happen so that we can have yet one more piece of evidence as to why the BCS is bad for humanity.

the OSU-michigan game is not slated to start until 3:30 according to ESPN.com
the cap- witt game starts at 1

seems like you could catch the cap-witt game until witt blows them out late in the third and then go home and watch the bucs dominate mighigan on T.V.

An amazing day to football that would be
