Oh, that's just a joke. Actually, we wish that someone replaced DePauw's turkeys with Spam...or Treet.

Ugh. I remember Treet. Blech. It made Spam seem like prime rib.

And yes, that was just a joke on MacLeod and WittFan, both of whom have good senses of humor.

A little late, but this might clear up some of the questions about the Monon Bell game.  This link was sent to me from a friend of my son's who he played ball with in Australia.  So yes, the Bell game is known down under.   http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Monon_Bell   As Always.

Anyone know when the roster of the Aztec Team will be announced?  DePauw's site states that Hertel has been named to the squad.  I am hoping that Patrick Millikan (Wabash, OT)  makes it along with some other NCAC'ers.

Pat Coleman

Not officially until after the national semifinals so that it can include players not playing in the Stagg Bowl.

Looks like Woo could be getting a Depauw man.....then again he is one of 3 candidates.

Does anyone else want to barf when reading the OAC page?  Here's a sample of a recent post:

"Not to beat a dead horse, but I just realized Tristan Murray was a Gagliardi finalist as well.  Let's see how he and his teams have done in 4 games against CAP. It must be nice to play Kenyon and Oberlin and whoever else they play in the NCAC.  All I have to do is look at the numbers and the scores to tell you that the Gagliardi award DOES NOT go to the best football player in D-3.  They should either change the criteria or call it the well-rounded award.  To consider it the equivalent to the Heisman Trophy for D-3 is a slap in the face to past Heisman winners.  CAP is 4-0 this year against Gagliardi finalists.  ENOUGH SAID."

Wally - are you reading that stuff?

I stopped reading their page because I got tired of the arrogance exhibited by some posters. No, they're not all like that. But there are enough of them to make it such that I just don't bother anymore. We know they're the greatest conference in the entire 'cking universe. I don't have to read it to know that.

My first response to this would be that there's never enough said when it comes to how bad the NCAC sucks. If there's a way to rip on the NCAC they're going to find it.

My second response would be to read Pat's Daily Dose from last year that discussed calling it the "D3 Heisman".

Ummm.....gentleman.  You have to realize that is from a poster that thinks Rocky Pentello is the "all everything for all of time" player, and NOT from the average OAC poster.

Of course, as a Mount fan, I am hoping Mount sends Mr. Pentello home with his perfect record intact.   ;D

What I find most amazing about the 2006 Tigers is that they made the playoffs behind a true freshman quarterback.  Maybe it happens more than I think, but I can't think of many (any?) playoff teams led by freshman quarterbacks.  Even the greatest quarterback in the history of college football (at least according to the majority of this board), Jake Knott, didn't lead his team to the playoffs his freshman year.:o  Hopefully this bodes well for the future.

Anyway, I tip my hat to the 2006 Tigers.  What a remarkable season.  They will be remembered as the team that, in spite of having the hardest road to the playoffs of any Tiger team in recent memory, reached down deep and found a way to get it done.  IMHO, they have earned their place alongside the great Tiger teams of the past.

Great Tiger teams of the past would have beaten the 2006 squad like... well you get the point.

None the less, good job.  But 7-4 doesn't make you great in Springfield.

GO TIGERS!!!

Oh my...if selected, I wonder if Dr. Abraham will bring along with him Depauw's revolutionary concept of "adequate management."  Scots fans, for your own good, I hope Abraham doesn't draw the short straw.   :)

BB16...I echo LG's comments regarding the OAC board.  There are plenty of worthwhile posters over there, but there is enough self-congratualtory BS flying around over there to choke a rhino.  The OAC is great.  We get it already.

And the guy who is badmouthing the Gagliardi Award is simply ignorant about the honor.  I've seen Pentello play.  He might be in the top five qb's I've seen at the Hollett.  Might be.

You could have simply put the period after ignorant.  He's a "Johnny come lately" Cap fan who's trying to ruffle as many feathers as possible.

I have a non-football question.  What is the Cross Country program like at Wooster?  I know a young man who runs CC and is considering becoming a Scott (for reasons beyond CC).
12-0 = 13

rscl70:

Woo is competitive in CC. Allegheny and Kenyon are tops for that in the NCAC. Not that I am biased or anything  ;), but "other reasons besides CC" are what makes Woo a great choice.

Barf? Nawwww....just another reminder that people say dumb stuff all the time. The poster clearly does not know the criteria for the Gagliardi and therefore has an uniformed opinion.....that happens a lot  ;D

As evidenced by his karma-to-post ratio.
