QuoteIt was announced yesterday that the time changes that were made last season will no longer be in effect.  So, kickoffs start again when the returned touches the ball, the first snap after a change of possession (not immediately after the ball is placed), and so forth, much like it was 2 years ago and before.

Yes...and I for one think it's very good news...BTW, how is the QB situation shaping up at Witt this fall?  Will there be competition?

As far as I know right now (which isn't all that much), the job is Huffman's to lose.  But, then again, at this point last year, we were debating whether it was going to be Brumfield or Stokes, so you never know...

I believe Rogers sued DePauw.  Wonder what became of the suit?  Too bad if he somehow got a bad rap and was closed out from consideration at the college level.  Hope not.

Hasn't gone to court yet.

His suit claims that just that, actually.  He says not only was he unfairly dismissed, but that his reputation was tarnished as well.

NCC_alum62

Does anyone know why he was dismissed? Was it really unfair? (just curious)  it seems like sueing a school doesn't improve your chances of being highered someplace else does it?

it was an accident waiting to happen...Rogers was a victim of "the more dominant spouse theory"...the signs were everywhere...

How are spring practices going around the league?

I heard the Little Giants are looking very good.  We all know the season is played in the fall, not the spring.  With that being said, it is sounding very positive for the regular season.  Knock on wood everyone stay healthy.  As always.

Guess I don't really know what you're trying to say exactly...  perhaps you could enlighten the rest of us since you seem to know something we don't?

To answer you, NCC_alum, from my perspective, there's not a whole lot that DPU can do to come out smelling like a rose on this one.  The admin, in my eyes, probably screwed the proverbial pooch on this one, whether you thought Rogers was the answer for DePauw or not.  I didn't, so I'm not that upset over this whole thing.

The University's got some explaining to do, which they are refusing to do until this puppy heads in front of the judge.

Having spent years in Orange County, CA and watching the battles between Mater Dei and Rancho Santa Margarita for players (Both schools are USC pipelines)  Hardcore recruiting isn't just for college anymore.

I'm putting the chances that the Rogers suit gets as far as a judge at slim and none.  Both parties have too much to lose should it get that far.  The reality is that the people who know exactly what happened are DPU's administration, Rogers himself, his very inner circle, and the handful of folks bound by attorney/client privelage.  The rest of us are speculating lest we start naming sources which (based on prior threads, legal or otherwise) isn't happening in this forum.  Thanks to our expedient legal system, the Rogers stuff is old news...time to turn the page I think.

Hard core HS recruiting was taking place in Ohio as far back as the 50s and perhaps farther.

Very little comes out of Delaware....Bishops have their eye on a QB from the Cleveland area...Word has it that he can be a 4 year starter...has the size, smarts & likes the package OWU has. He does have offers from "others"...he is a late commitment. Congrats to COW baseball...they beat Kent State 3-2 at KSU! The Scots 27 game winning streak at the start of the season was no fluke. Good for COW, the NCAC & D3. GO BISHOPS

I disagree. Obviously, I know little more than has already been discussed and I have no knowledge of specific evidence that Rogers has; but being a Plaintiff's lawyer by trade my gut feeling tells me that Rogers has a good enough case to take to a jury. I think Depauw has more to lose than Rogers.

Need some help. I did not go to a small D3 school like those in NCAC. But would you that did suggest that the education prepares one better for life than a mid-sized D1 school might? Aquainted with a youngster here in Ohio who tore it up in high school, has legitimate D1 offers from MAC schools, but is not a great student.  Has some learning disabilities.  D2 and especially D3 schools,  including several NCAC and OAC schools are saying "our" school will be more challenging academically, but our school with our top shelf professors, learning centers and help services and smaller campus with fewer distractions will better discipline you and prepare you for life after college and football and football will not own all your time in college like at a bigger school. D1 schools are saying he is good enough to play D1 and will not have to worry about flunking out of school.
The kid and his family still have not decided where he will go this fall, or what makes the most sense.
Would seriously appreciate anyone weighing in. I know a number of kids have to make these decisions. And D3 schools have come up with attractive financial packages, too.

Select the college which is best for him relative to his learning disabilities. After that if football does or doesn't fall in place, so be it. We are talking about the young man's entire future which may extend 60, 70, 80 more years.
