I would agree with Frank.  I strongly believe that a player should be a student first, and an athlete second.  I know at the D3 level, that is the sentiment for most schools.  At D1 it is athletics first, student second.  For a student that wants to learn, I think they can learn at any school, it might be a little harder with the D1 or 2.  If he wants a free degree without working hard.  I would suggest D1 or D2.  If he wants to really improve himself academicaly, most D3 are small enough to help, but will require him to work for his degree.

WallyFS4 - I also agree.  If the young man goes to a big school, he will owe his soul to the company store so to speak.  If he doesn't get the big NFL contract, and doesn't get an education, he has a free ticket to selling on the used car lot.  The right D3 school will provide him the support he needs and a good education.

2)  Hopefully field turf the next season

Runge is a bit more official isn't he? ;)

Hollett field update.  On Saturday ... all sod was in and the sprinklers are on.  Looks like good stuff.  Now, if we can just keep the Wabash groundskeepers "helpers" from helping the sod along like they "helped" the grass along last year.

I watched the Little Giants defeat OWU in the second game of the double header and the report from one of the assistant football coaches watching the game was that recruiting was going very well and Wabash should be proud of its incoming Frosh footballers next year.

He also related that the juniors were off somewhere near Camp Attabury having a grand time and the seniors were going to climb Pike's Peak.

So ... can't wait for September 8 at Hollett when Franklin gets to be the first opponent on the new sod.

Ah, new sod. Let's hope it takes, if this consarned Indiana weather co-operates.

Wouldn't the Wabash coaches benefit more from hiding low in the weeds than building expectations?

WallyFS4

Frank,

I don't think Wabash can ever hide in the weeds.  I think Wabash is on everyones rader every year.  I wish we could sneak up on teams, but I really don't think that is possible.  As Always.

The goal is to be elite.  You don't qualify as elite if you're in the weeds.  I also don't think that the Wabash coaching staff has to go out of their way to build expectations.  The expectations for Wabash football are sky high with or without input from the staff...which is how it ought to be.

I can't wait for September 8.  That's going to be a fun, fun game.

So who are these recruites for Wabash?  I know that Wooster is having a good year getting a few needed players like All-State RB/DB Kyle Murdock Maryville, RB/DB Corey Webber Watkins Memorial, OL Chris Perez New Albany, WR transfer from Kent State, have also heard that they have a few good LBs but I haven't heard anything about a QB? Any other big name recruites in the NCAC?

I am looking forward to seeing the Bash D this coming season.  There were a few games last year where many of us almost lost it.   By the end of the season they were playing much better.  I am hoping the added experience and maturity will yield a improved overall D this season.

Has B. Lange fully recovered?  I bet Adi is chomping at the bit to hit someone?

How does Bash look at Safety this year?
