Miller's Bar and catfish in Colfax - now, Tommy's (RIP) - 1971 and underaged, quaffing of Fall City seems like yesterday.

Is Banks Cigar Store still in existence, or has the upscaled "Athens persona" claimed it as well?

Two in a row - the Tigers still ...swallow

Ryan Leaf...Ki-Jana Carter...and Akili Smith come to mind to name a few of the busts...

Ryan Leaf. Biggest bust ever. Only Len Bias's heart was a bigger bust.

I beg to differ...sorry, MacLeod, but;

Bank Cigar has been gone for a few years now. Didn't it collapse?

It  is possible to be a better college player than another person but a lesser pro prospect.

Just as it is possible to be the better pro prospect AND the better college player at the same time.

Somehow, I think the NFL scouts would know a little more about judging talent than a coach from the NCAC. ::)

Not to keep this debate going any longer, but the Heisman Trophy and the mixed success in the NFL for those that have been named the "Best" College Football player in the land, only supports the comment above.

2003 Jason White Oklahoma (Quarterback)
2001 Eric Crouch Nebraska (Quarterback) "Perfect" example
2000 Chris Weinke Florida State (Quarterback)
1996 Danny Wuerffel Florida (Quarterback)
1994 Rashaan Salaam Colorado (Running Back)
1992 Gino Torretta Miami (Quarterback)
1990 Ty Detmer Brigham Young (Quarterback)
1989 Andre Ware Houston (Quarterback)
1983 Mike Rozier Nebraska (Running Back)
1980 George Rogers South Carolina (Running Back)

Great College players, decent at best in the Pros.

LiL Giant,

You are one sick pup, but I love it.
Jr is looking at Mesquite, how is that area.

INQBscout,

The Little Giants have done well at QB this recruiting season, trust me.  Saw your comment on the HCAC board about "mixed reviews."  After Huff the job is wide open so its pretty obvious this was a key position that needed addressed.  Big Matt Hudson is there as well and will be a Soph.

Wabash looks to have a Spring roster posted with new number assignments.

A few that caught my attention:

--WR, Michael Russell will wear the traditional #1 this season - no surprise.  He could be an All American.
--Welcome back Mr. Darryl Kennon #11 at DE, should look good coming off the edge (pass rush) at 6'3 250.  He is up at least 30 pounds from his Frosh season.
--RB, Evan Sobecki has switched to #6 - single digits are a premium.

I had to find the Griffith kid!

Lehmann is listed at SS - I guess his QB days have expired.

Kelley, what do you think of Jake German committing to the LG's?

Trying to get a feel for the top gets at the QB spot. Who are they?

QuoteNorth Montgomery's Jake German is headed to Wabash.

Is this the top QB in the class?

It will be tough to say who "the top QB is" ... after Huff ... until practice starts in earnest including the new guys and the progressing old guys.  It is my understanding that Wabash has several new guys with pretty good HS records.  CC has a talent for developing QBs ... and my sense is that ... with a year to train ... he will do so again (to the chagrin of NCAC rivals).

Of equal interest should be the crop of receivers coming in as well as coming back.  There should be no falloff here this year or next from years past.

Add to that the J-back and RB talent developing in house (aand to that the new guys) ....

D is in essence what it was last year (losing a couple of starters but having ready replacements) only a little better with adds.

O line has lost some but was deep and has worked together for several years.

Great to hear Kennon is back.  Great young man.  He will be a asset to the Little Giants.  As always.

WABASH ALWAYS FIGHTS!

WallyFS4,

No doubt.  I can't remember but wasn't he around 215 or so as a Freshman.  He can run extremely well and should pose some pretty serious matchup problems with OTs.  Very glad he got back in school and is doing well.

Honestly, I do not know much about Jake German other then he was awared one of the prestigious Lilly Scholarships - FULL BOAT!!!  I think the world of his dad, Coach German.

INQBscout,

Here's one for you...

Delta QB signs with Wabash
By GREG FALLON

MUNCIE -- Tyler Hernly knew he wanted to play collegiate football, and he knew he wanted to get a solid education.

Considering the two factors, the now former Delta quarterback will play for Wabash College next season, a decision the outgoing senior made this week.

"First and foremost, I wanted to go to a place that would be meaningful beyond these next four years. I can get a great degree from there," Hernly said.

The former Eagle threw for an area-best 2,122 yards with 116 completions in 240 attempts during his final season under center. He completed 21 passes for touchdowns.
