Quote from: reality check on September 13, 2005, 04:32:40 PMA sidenote on the Wabash paper...

Why do you guys take offense to others making the same old jokes about being an all-male school when your paper publishes student cartoons that does the same thing?

There is a complex answer buried in here somewhere, but I think the simple response is it has to do with who makes the comment and how it's made. There are a few guys on here who are very obviously anti-Wabash and make "gay" or other all-male jokes just to get a rise out of people.

On the other hand, I remember on the old board when you, RC, made mention of being recruited by Wabash, but then choosing ONU because you "liked girls." Guess what: I gave you five stars for that. It was funny. I know that it was purely a light, tongue-in-check remark, and you made the comment after tearing apart one guy who was wrongly ragging on Wabash posters for a comment they didn't make.

If it really is a joke, myself (and hopefully others) will take it as such. The problem is when an all-male retort is the best that someone can come up with during a debate or argument. That's usually made more out of malice than jest.

In similar fashion, I tired as all heck about people playing the "academic card." It's the same sort of beast that comes out at the worst times and usually has no relevence to a discussion.

2.7 seconds. An average football player may need more time to score; a great one finds a way. I've seen greatness happen.

aueagle,

wish that i could say the Butler program is a sleeping giant but it is obvious here in Indiana that football is merely a vehicle to "beef up" the male enrollment...Butler is a basketball school first and foremost...

Wooscot,

As far as coaching the Woo DB's, this is my response:

Living in a dorm, eating Lowry food, and an 8,000 stipend?  That is a tough call, but no thanks.

bashbrother

This board went to sleep, I guess..... 5 hours in primetime without a post?

That's got to be a record.

$8000 a year stipend?  Damn, Wooster pays their farmhands well.  I heard Gheny GA's make even less.  Although they do get campus houses, not dorm rooms. Guess that's always the GA's incentive to move on after his two years are up.

But Lancer, what about the other "perks," like hanging about 18-21 co-eds, being a frat advisor (you would do it!!!), and having the school pay for your master's degree from Kent State or Akron?  Heck, I bet you would even get a free parking permit for your trouble.  Aren't all those well worth it?

DarkSide-D

Woa now...hold up there wooscot,

You can't believe that Wooster would give out a free parking pass.  Heck, thats like gold in wooster.   ;)

Quick question anyone. Can a d3 player transfer to another d3 school and play the next year, or would he have to sit out a year of school? .Thanks.

bashbrother

I wonder what ever happened to James Brashear (Sp?) or that other cat that was on here last year that acted like him?  I know Pat may have kicked one or both of them off.

Anyone?

It depends on conference rules and regulations but you can transfer from one school in D-III to another without sitting a year out.  I don't know if the NCAC has anything in place but I do know that the OAC has a rule that requires you sit out a season if you transfer from one member school to another but players that transfer from non-OAC schools can play the next season without a year off.  MUC wide receiver Pierre Garcon played last season at Norwich University in the E-8 Conference and he is catching balls right now for the Purple Raiders.

Seth Boyer, our old pal representing "the winningest program in Division III."  What a shame it was to have him booted from this board shortly after his incessant bragging about how Witt would hammer Wooster, embarass OWU, etc. etc.

Who is the new QB at Witt and how does he look? ???

My guess--time to show, not talk.
