MacLeod,

What post of mine are you referring?  No clue what you are talking about.

For what its worth, INQBScout is not a "Wabash guy" and he's the one that started all of this with his question pertaining to Huff.  Although I thought the same, I didn't post it knowing the backlash.  We should just name the entire lineup from Mount 1st team in all polls and then go from there with the rest of D3.  I think Wabash WR - Mike Russell also got shafted with no mention...

Great to see the "BashDad" handle back on the board.

DadofBashWarrior..

Congrats to Adi......

LB Adrian Pynenberg, Sr., Wabash

Huff and company will get the numbers.....

Preseason Hoopla.....enough....bring on the first whistle...

Wabash will ....MAKE IT HAPPEN

INQBScout

Some folks sure are touchy (insecure?)...simply wanted to point out surprise that a guy who, at least from the numbers, was tops in the country in 2006 isn't mentioned.

These kinds of teams, by their nature, stir things up...and actually, now that I've learned a bit more about the Micheli kid...maybe he IS the right choice...we'll see in a few months...

Picking the QB from most likely the most talented, top to bottom roster in Div III.  A team that arguably has the best O line and possibly the best wide receiver in the land.  This was not a tough choice,  it was actually the easy and safe pick.  But, anyone could make that pick.

Don't get me wrong,   I am sure he is very talented and may be all that.  If he didn't have that kind of potential,  he wouldn't be starting at Mount.

But like everything else, we shall see.

Why should you go for it on 4th down?

Seriously, get ESPN Classic or something. I totally respect your knowledge of the game and your enthusiasm and contributions to this board. But you sound like one of those crotchety "get off my darn lawn!" types. The game has moved on. They are passing the ball now.
Yeah and Peyton Manning didn't have to use a two back set in the playoffs.  C'mon now give me more credit than that.  Afterall, I do have Faught's playbook, not the Hanoveresque Franklin playbook.

While I have been of the opinion that NFL playoff football requires a two back set because the roster doesn't mind being depleted at the end of a lose and go home season linebackers are willing to sell out their bodies and fullbacks become necessary countermeasures.  College football on the other hand relies week in and week on the running quarterback.  Whether it be due to defensive integrity break down, the triple option play call or formational attitude, quarterbacks make it happen with their feet more in college than they do in the pros.

All I am saying is that even in the pass happy pros with marginal hash marks, point guard on grass football gave way this year to the two back set when it came time to get it done.  Simply because there really is no triple option, formational attitude or breakdown of defensive integrity at the highest levels.

Ahh, fuggedaboutit, I am crotchety.

Get the hell off my lawn.

And BB16 don't be coy, sure wally_wabash can point it out to you.  Actually didn't get the joke at first.  After all it's just curls for the gurls if you're working out and pretty sure the Tigers train, the rest will take care of itself.

Actually I don't know what post you speak of...if BB16 made a post on the ASC board, there's a pretty strong chance I never saw it as I don't read the ASC board.   ???

Here's the link.

Wasn't saying BB16 posted on the ASC Board, was saying that I wanted to cut and paste the bashing going on over there to throw at you guys.  Besides, think it was the basketball board anyway, good luck finding it, was neither here nor there.  Was more pulling a Barry Horowitz for not having stooped to that level myself.

Ahhh...gotcha.  I remember that post, but it really didn't factor into what I was saying.

I wouldn't get too riled up about 16's post on Huffman's cannons.  If you can't poke a little fun at your rival's quarterback for having the arms of a high school sophomore, what has the world come to?    And besides, you Witt guys currently have scoreboard on Wabash, so how harsh can our words really be?  ;)

I can't wait for BB16's annual Wooster media guide recap.  That's always fun for the whole board.   ;D

except for maybe Springfield, but they don't have a need for a quarterback with arms.   :)
A second read could say I was being a bit defensive, but intent and motive are something different.  Enough with the dispositive dovetail devices, hoping you're not alluding to the ambidextrous faculties of the Tiger passer, errrr quarterback.

Heaven knows my earlier post today was replete with grammatical, structural and logical errors, inuendos and less than so subtle nuances.

Then again I always confuse the word repetoire and rapport.  X's and the O's versus Jimmy's and the Joe's.

I don't think wally was talking about Huffmen. The QB for Springfield College (10-2 last year) run for 1941 yds and passed for 400.

QuoteThis is a 2007 team, not a 2006 non-senior team.

????? My point is I would assume that past performance, not potential, would be an important part of the selection process.

They both are. But it's a 2007 team, as I said. That should be an indication that it's the 2007 performance we're after.

Let's not act like you're preseason predictions are golden, they are-- per your own admission on the front page-- usually, and prolifically, wrong.

As a former post-season choice, I and Adam Knoblauch can attest. John Port was your selection ahead of us both that year.

Usually and proflically wrong? Hardly. What I said on the front page was that we don't look at our preseason team when putting together our postseason team.

To be fair...Micheli was the MOP of the Stagg Bowl.  It isn't like he doesn't have a little something on his resumé also.

Thank you. Someone knows his D-III football. :)

Well, only two more logical nodes to unearth.  This looks like a job for Mansfiew.

I could just do without the indignant responses.

From 2003 to date, your pre-season qb choices have been incorrect every time except one when the dude's name was Elliot-- not exactly an impressive prediction.

Anyway, that's usual and prolific.

As always, I do not represent the Earlham College Quaker football program.

However, I would direct those who have, rightfully, called M.O. Ross Field an "abomination" (or something of the sort) in the past to a link with newly updated photos courtesy of Earlham's hardest working employee, SID Don Tincher.

Enjoy...and enjoy any future trips to Richmond on fall Saturdays....I pass through it often on my way to Happy Valley. Just about a month left until the opener against Florida International.

All you basketball folks, enjoy your NCAC season and I'm sure we'll meet again on the roundball boards in a few months.

I posted in a hurry. I can see why it would be taken as indignant.

That's seven picks out of 350. I am sure there are many more preseason picks that didn't pan out, but your evidence isn't very deep. There's more on the field than a quarterback.

The rest of the record at quarterback: In 2000, 2-for-2. In 2001, 1-for-2. In 2002, 2-for-3.

In 2003, by the way, Scott Kirchoff was both a preseason and a postseason All-American. That's a hit. In 2004, yes, J.D. Ricca did not make the postseason All-American team. Of course, he was injured halfway through the season. And in 2006, Andy Collins was both a preseason and postseason All-American.

Our record is better than you're letting on. It never will be perfect, but it's still pretty good.
