That would be too bad.  Hope he gets better soon.  He's a special player and  is making good things happen for Earlham.

Why should you go for it on 4th down?

Rummel's NCAA Div. III Rank after 2 games:

Pass Effic. -  3rd (Rating - 216)

Pass Yardage - 2nd (844)

Pass TD's - 2nd (11)

Not bad.

I seriously hope all is well for Rummel.  Even if he were to have to sit out only one game, the fact that this is his senior year would absolutely suck.  I wish him a quick and complete recovery.

I assume you follow the Quakers billy, if so, what does the play of his possible replacements say for the hopes of the team.  Obviously they won't be able to compare, but will the Quake offense be able to resemble itself as if Rummel were still in.

Wally,
I think we need a line on when the NCAC board's going to effectively double the number of OAC pages.  I think when we hit page 78, they'll be on 39ish.

Happy 50th page, NCAC.  Can't wait to hear the Little Giants in action this week at Wash, even if I can't make it in person.  Hoo-ray for webcasts.

I really have no idea. Both of the potential replacements are freshman who played high school ball in the Richmond area, but I've never seen either of them play.

I don't follow Earlham too closely on the gridiron, though running back Manny Myers was a high school teammate of mine. Mostly I come over to this side because I enjoy reading the pick 'ems, so I thought the local story was appropriate.

I will say this about Rummell, he's played through injuries in the past. He hurt his shoulder in the Hiram game last season (fourth or fifth game of the year), only missed one game (Witt) and obviously had a good year.

And so ends all I know about Earlham football.

Looking forward to basketball season (and stones fly at me for that comment)
"There's no energy. What is it with you guys? I don't get it. You win one game against a decent team and then you think you just have to show up to win on the road? Now I know why Bob Knight gets caught on film hitting kids on the chin!"

Well at least you have the "victory of page totals" to fall back on when you lose to us on the field.   ;)

Agree that Rummell's foot injury is really too bad.  Not only is he an excellent QB, but a super person.  He has endured alot at Earlham and has made the Quakers a dangerous football team that you can't overlook--they might bite you in the butt.  Depending on the nature and extent of Rummell's foot problem, Earlham's coach has an important decision this Saturday--Earlham opens their NCAC season on the 24th at Wabash.  I hope that Justin's injury doesn't impair him during the remainder of his senior season--he has worked so hard, accomplished so much.  He deserves better.

While Duesing was held down in last year's Wash U. game in C'ville, he and QB Henry seem to be clicking so far in '05. Duesing had four receptions against Mt. Union and he caught eight of the 18 completions thrown last week by Wash U.'s two QBs.   'Bash's secondary will be tested early and often this Saturday.

B-Bishop98: OWU needs to beat teams like Thiel, & by a large margin. Sir Louie has come out of the gate strong & needs to have a big year for the Bishops to win. The Olivet game this week has me concerned. Are we going to be like last year with our out of conference record or will OWU step up. Like I've said before, I want Championshiops. The Bishops need to set the goal as 1) winning the NCAC & 2) being in the playoffs. The last few years, I haven't seen any motivation for either. BashDad is right, gotta show - not talk. Every time I see the Bishop roster stacked with decent talent, spread over 3, maybe 4 classes, I see the light at the end of the tunnel. But then, we lose to a Thiel and have to start over. Frustratin, to say the least. gobash: we must be doing something right, because the OAC does monitor our site more than we do theirs.  I thought a D3 player could transfer and play right away. On the matter of transfers...

This is the official NCAA guide.  Way too much information for me to just tell you.  Good luck in figuring out all of the exceptions.

Hey, we'll take what we can get.  You up for a game of paper, rock, scissors?  Regardless, I hope Wabash at least has the chance to take on an OAC team in the playoffs...the last one was fun despite the thrashing.

aueagle,

why the hostility towards Thiel?  Large margin? Thiel beat them last year in Deleware as well.  They're picked 2nd in the PAC behind W&J.  Before you say it, yes, the PAC isn't exactly loaded with powerhouses.  But Thiel is a team that consistently gets better every season, the same way Wooster rapidly improved once Barnes showed up.  Academically, the schools don't compare, but Thiel sits in a great recruiting area and Leipheimer and staff have definitely taken advantage of that.  Not disagreeing with your whole post, but I think a lot of people still look at Thiel as being the team they were 5 years ago.  Not even close to being the case.  In my opinion they could hang with any team in the NCAC right now.  Just so you know, Leipheimer was my favorite coach at Allegheny and by far the most respected member of the staff when Hrovat was there, so if I sound biased, it's because I am.

V-Mac: Hostility? Please... This is the record for the past 6 years for the Tomcats. Over-all & PAC. 7-3/4-1...3-7/1-4...3-7/2-3...2-8/1-3...2-8/0-4...3-7/0-4. Last season was a breakout year for Thiel, no doubt. And Leipheimer has created excitment as well as an updated/improved weight room, but till consistency is the norm, the jury is out on the program. Sure, your in one of the hot-bed's of HS talent, but, there are no guarantees in anything. Let's just wait till Oct 1 vs W&J and Oct 22 vs Westminster, to see where the '05 Tomcats are going. I feel that the OWU Bishops should win all the non-NCAC games because I think they are the better team on the field, period. As well, in the NCAC, I think the only program that should beat us is Wittenberg; even then I don't think we should ever lose to them. GO BISHOPS

I've got no problem with expecting to win.  It was just the "by a large margin" reference that caught my eye.  And just in case you don't remember, 2 years ago I was one of very few posters who felt OWU would recover WITH HOLLWAY AND WITH HIS SUPPOSEDLY OBSOLETE DELEWARE WING T OFFENSE.  Good luck to the Bishops for the rest of the season (except when they travel to Meadville of course).

wally_wabash

Out of curiosity, why is it that you feel that Witt is the only program that should be beating OWU?  What makes Witt so special?  Is Wittenberg the only program worth a damn in this conference?  I should remind you here that it's been four years since the last time Wittenberg was actually the best team in this conference.  The last time I checked (which, for your edification, was about two minutes ago), there are two NCAC teams that OWU has not beaten since the beginning of the 2000 season:  Hiram, who OWU hasn't played in that time period, and Wabash.

We really have to get Wittenberg off the pedestal, people.  They don't lord over this conference anymore.
