See....now isn't this fun???? Differences of opinion flowing all over the place. Lots of posts today!

I do have to say that there ARE people who don't come back on here because of all the previously stated reasons (I've talked to them). I don't think they email everyone to say "hey, I'm not coming back"......they just stop.

As far as the Woo QB situation, Parker is taller and has a good arm, but he's had some trouble with reacting well under pressure. Hopefully that has improved. Holter is quick and has a lot of heart but he's not very big.

With so many key players graduating the issues with cutting the travel budget last year, and therefore not playing out the JV schedule, poses a big problem in that many players who need to step up this year saw very little play time last year.

Further updates after tomorrow's scrimmage.....:)

Should be a lot of activity here tomorrow with all of the scrimmages going on...I'm looking forward to reports from all camps!

Wabash has their annual Red/White scrimmage tomorrrow.  My attendance is TBD, but if I fail to make it down to Hollett tomorrow, I'm sure somebody with a registered name here will be more than happy to fill us in with the highlights.

It would be nice if there were enough non-Wabash conversation to keep a board going. :)

This is what I actually said to medicine man, for the record. :)

Truly, I think you would find that most of the Wabash posters would like nothing better than to see Hiram, Earlham, and Denison posters starting to flood the NCAC boards and open up discussion topics.  I get far more joy out of coming here and seeing a "I'm a Big Red fan, and this is my first post here" than the defensive posts lamenting the fact that there are passionate Wabash fans on here and not many others.  Instead of constantly complaining about the lack of other posters, why not take the time to put something up with legitimate content?  How about your outlook for your team's season, rather than bitching about the outlook for this message board over the next several months.

And seriously, how is calling a kid Elway an insult?  It's not like we called him Leaf, Plummer, or Collins.

And seriously, how is calling a kid Elway an insult? quote from gobash.

I have been reading this for this for at least 3 years and the way in which Schafer was called "Elway" was not used as a compliment, please do not try to change it now. If you were truly comparing him to John Elway it then would have been a compliment.

Nice try.......to all of you not just GoBash.

I will still maintain, that there is enough "non-Wabash" conversation to keep it going if everyone else could just post and not get slammed.

On to the season !

You guys are seriously struggling for topics...great recommendation Gobash, providing some insight on your team for the upcoming season...

But, until we get some better material, I had to "google" Justin Shafer, Elway, and Wooster...and guess what came up Wally?  Oh yes, the 2005, Mock Wooster Season Preview Player Profiles... here's a taste and the original post from 2005:  Re: North Coast Athletic Conference

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

OK, it's time for the 2nd annual (imitation) of the Wooster website player profiles - which are very thorough and sweet by the way...

QB - Justin Shafer, "Possesses the talent, intelligence, and leadership skills to be one of the top signal callers in conference history, and in the nation," AND SHOULD BE BETTER THEN JOE MONTANA BY THE TIME HIS NFL CAREER ENDS (according to the coaching staff...should have a better year in '05 then Peyton Manning had last season!).  Compared to John Elway since his arrival on campus, he continues to amaze and has turned down several pro offers to come out RIGHT NOW for 7+ digit signing $$$.  Is such a stud, his play won't be effected by the All American Running Back Tony Sutton's departure.  Supposedly set to take over for Richie "I now work for Vidal Sassoon Hair Products" McNally with all the ladies on campus.

...and, just for entertainment purposes, here was the MOCK preview on 3 other Scots...this Krock guy was pretty funny - I have to admit:

LB - Joe Blow, according to the coaching staff, this dude will rock the NCAC's world, despite being 155 pound linebacker, has cat-like quickness.  Got tougher this past off-season spending time on a crab boat in Alaska - featured on A&E's Deadliest Catch TV series.

DB - Chris Craig, according to the coaching staff (and his Dad and Grandfather) should be the first d-back drafted in the NFL next year and should go in the 1st round.  Definite All American candidate and is the best d-back in the eastern half of the United States.  Timed by the coaching staff at 4.12 in the 40 downhill and the wind to his back + he growled the whole way with a new tatoo of a bagpipe (on his neck).  Is so good, you wouldn't have thought he played last year vs. Witt nor Wabash when they lit the secondary up like a Christmas tree giving up 88 combined points!  Oh ya, also played with former Woo LB Tim Cline.  Cline roomed with Tony Sutton and was with him when he heard he was going to the Senior Bowl.  They then met Craig for pizza, and Seth Duerr showed up and they all talked in amazement about  how cool it would be if the Scots had a visitors side to their stadium.

OL - Jack Crusher, per the coaching staff, although this cat has never been higher then #3 on the depth charts, should emerge as one of the greatest O-linemen since NFL-Hall-of-Famer John Hannah (or Anthonly Munoz).  Despite being 5'6" (and 5th string) was a member of the unit that blocked for the #1 RB in D3 Tony Sutton - at least  he did in practice once.

BashBacker#16

Even if you are a Wooster fan, you have to admit your player profiles are GREAT entertainment for other D3 football fans (especially Wabash fans) - and how old does this phrase get, "According to the Coaching Staff..."

On a serious note, does it bug you guys when you read articles about guys being "D1 prospects" and then when you go see them play, you scratch your head?  I cannot stand that personally.  A D1 guy dominates the field, stands out on every single play, and should jump out as a legit prospect.

medicine man

Thank you so much  BashBacker,  you gave us a great example of exactly what we have been talking about.  You did the work for us.  We did not even have to look it up. '

Oh, and by the way, it would be hard for Chris Craig's dad to give his opinion, he was killed in an accident right before Chris went to Wooster.

BashBacker#16

...sorry on a roll...

WallyFS4 - you'll like this...

OK, did Kcreds' "Jr" transfer from OWU to Marietta???  Whoa nelly!!!  It has to be the same dude, he's still talking about "Jr's" high school career and the dead giveaway...he refers to his son as "Jr"

Marietta beat St. Vincent 28-0 in a scrimmage. Marietta basically dominated on both sides of the ball. The new QB's made some nice plays along with the wide outs. Special teams looked good except for maybe the kickoff team. They over pursued and were out of position each time. I hope the coaches see that before Sept . 1 or we will probably give up a return. I know that other Saint school we play next we be a little, okay alot tougher, but this scrimmage, I'm sure, gave our team a lot of confidence and positives to build on. I particularly liked the play calling. The one downer I had was watching Jr. playing very little on offense and no defense. He practiced in the Spring and up to this week at strong safety, a position he is very comfortable in but they switched him to TE this week due to them only having 3 and they are all freshman. He played a little TE in high school but never really had to block. He was mainly a receiver. He is trying hard to pick up the blocking techniques but not fast enough to play much today. I know I have to be patient and I am not one of those parents you all have alluded to in recent posts. I know if he earns it he will play, if not he won't. Has anyone on here ever had to make that switch and if so do you have any advice for Jr. or myself? Goooooo Pios!

MedicineMan/Girl/Woman/Boy,

You are WAY OFF base there pal - say what you want though.

Obviously, no one would have known about Mr. Craig's passing.  If you can't read tell that and know its for fun (during a super boring part of this message board), find something else to chase.  As I said, even if you are Wooster fan, those player profiles are off the charts and very entertaining.

No Bash Backer, you said it, maybe you need to be more careful when making fun of the boys.

There was talk on here a couple of years ago about it actually as Mr. Craig's tissue went to another Wooster football player in a knee surgery.   You are always on here should have seen it, but then it wasn't about Bash it was about Wooster.

You said it, I am not off -base but I am done.  You have crossed the line. Enjoy "bashing people", it is not worth reading.

ENOUGH!!!! is ENOUGH!!!!

Sometimes ignorance does NOT excuse a potentially hurtful remark. And it doesn't make it okay that it was meant for "fun". Nobody would know the story of Ralph "Sap" Wilson if they weren't a Wabash fan, but I am pretty sure some comment made out of ignorance would not be viewed as in the spirit of "fun". These kinds of comments are disrespectful to the players......you know, the people actually playing the game....Mr Craig, like Ralph "Sap" Wilson left behind an inspiring gift to the team.

So.....can we PLEASE rise to the example of people like Wilson and Craig and get on with the season without the snide comments?????
