Pat: Maybe MSJ isn't that good, but, what a story. They started playing ball in 1990? Then, in '98 they come into NCAA D3...2004 (10-1) 2005 (9-2) 2006 (9-2) 2007 (3-0)..not bad...sure their opponents have a combined 3-5 record this year & they come from the HCAC...DB Ricky Stautber is a Don Hansen National Weekly Player of the Week...I am glad they got the nod at 25....this is great stuff! Men of Wabash: Anybody giving kudos to Hanover coach Wayne Perry...winningest coach in Indiana collegiate football...26 yrs...8 conference titles...he's hanging the cleats up after this year..he gets a high five from me...oldscot:Osborn is capable..decent size (6'1 195) & speed..c'mon, he averages almost 24 yds a grab (3 balls)..He's got jets & can stretch the LG DB's...I hope none of us were the player we were in HS...I hope we got better...Let's see what Nathan does for the Bishops on Saturday....

QuoteWabash Frosh kicker Spencer Whitehead was getting some kicks in.  That dude can BOOM, what a leg.  He was 1st team 5A All State out of Bloomington South.  He hit one from 50 that had room.  I think he is going to be a great one when he gets his shot.

...last year I saw a 13 year old Punt, Pass and Kick kid kick a 55 yarder with no rush... ;D

aueagle,
I was talking about a Calvin Willis two years ago. About 140 lbs. A real jitterbug, but did not hear about him last year.
Will see OWU in person in a couple weeks as is our homecoming here at College of Wooster. Will check out the OWU offense.  I hope we will have won a game by then.  After CWRU we go to Wittenburg.
Remember hearing Hollway say at NCAC kickoff in Granville that they might have Hymes next year. Not sure why he would get a fifth year. Did he play at Wittenburg? In d3 can you redshirt or get another year because of medical loss of a season?

smedindy

That's why Huff is playing this year - he took a medical redshirt year. Of course, it's up to the school to grant it and make sure he's in class, etc. Wabash has a 9th semester option for teacher education students (though I don't know if Huff is in that mode).

MSJ, and please somebody correct me if I'm wrong, was a first year D-III program in 1998.  Wabash had them as the Homecoming game in the first year of the HCAC (after DePauw and RHIT unceremoniously split for southern pastures)...Wabash won 45-0, which also happened to be on the kickoff of Wabash's massive capital campaign that spawned the Allen Center/Knowling Fieldhouse as well as numerous renovations to fraternity houses and other campus buildings...there were fireworks behind the Chapel and everything.  It was a good weekend.  That MSJ has hit the playoffs in less than 10 years is awesome.  I think Franklin gets them this year though and gets the HCAC bid.

Wayne Perry is a DePauw grad and a thorn in the side of many Wabash teams in the late 90's.  'Nuff said.

I hope he likes coaching golf.  :)

nike: Calvin Willis lettered in 2005....he was behind Nick Rice, who was another solid OWU back....No other info is available...
Hymes did play receiver for Wittenebrg in 2004...played in 3 games for the Tigers & returned 1 kick for 27 yds...

I had high hopes for Calvin Willis. I talked to him a couple of times and he seemed to be a great kid. I loved his running style and Nike I remember you commented on him after his freshman year. I saw him in the fall of 2006, I think he was moving his brother in the dorms. I don't want to speculate why but I don't believe he played last year either.

I also would like to see Dennis and Raeford get the ball more. Good luck Bishops!

So they were.  Thanks for knowledge SaintsFAN.  The fireworks were still awesome though.   :)

aueagle...are you seriously trying to tie App St. into this weekend's game?  Give your team a little more credit than that.  Come on now.

What's unfortunate is that in the couple of weeks since that game, App St. has become a total cliché for any and all "shock the world" kinds of discussions.  It's too bad because it really undermines the accomplishment.

I remember MSJ was the 'invited guest' at the old ICAC Day At The Dome when the conference had seven teams.

Wow, I remember when the ICAC was formed - and I remember when Taylor said, "Nah, sorry...our bad."

Ah, memories...
