I think it would be worth the trip.  There have been some classic games in this series lately.

It would be nice if 2007 is a repeat of 2003 at Hollett.

That game was a blast.

2003...Wittenberg @ Wabash.  Best. Homecoming. Ever.  We even had a band that day.   ;D

The Wittenberg faithful liked 2000 a little better.

Yeah, but we don't have too many good memories traveling to Crawfordsville. ;D

nike: I think there are few that really enjoy the OWU Wing.....Crowds at Selby? I want to see the '07 figures for the Homecoming & Hall of Fame games....if anything, those 2 games ought to be well over 2000 per....24-0 COW victory? Both teams are very, very different...still, the game should be good...if not, drive down to Shreve for some 4-wheelin' and score some Amish pies...Mmm good! The field at Selby is outstanding...I heard some Ohio State brass came to OWU to see if the stuff would be right for the Shoe....and, yep, that's the stuff they have for '07....
smedindy: Yikes...hope the COW-OWU fans don't turn into the "Wine & Cheese' fans like UNC TarHeel football fans...I can hear it now, "Fine play Lads, fine play"
ScotLass: OWU plays a soft non-conference...I've said it before...play the old OAC rivals....or other Methodist schools...oops, that means bang'in heads with BW, Capital, Otterbein, DePauw and yes, Mount Union....Play a MH-B or a Saint John's... step-up....

uknowme22,

I have told this story before but this was Coach Carlson's last season, Knott - Short - Boulais and those guys were Sophomores.  Our AD asked me if I could ride the Witt bus (decked out in Wabash gear mind you - that was the longest 2 mile drive I've ever had) to C-ville high school to show them where the field was.  Coach Fincham was ticked at that point due to the delay and Knott & Co. had had some early success prior to the delay.  Once the game resumed at C-ville, it was downright UGLY and Bash got it handed to them.  I even left before it ended.  Man among boys.

Things have changed a bit since then...luckily.   ;D

runyr,
Believe it or not, at Papp, where the Scots play. Right as you walk through tickets you see the stand. Not a very big stand but the hot dogs are great.

BB#16,

I was on that bus.  And yes Donaldson was a man among boys that day.  We could certainly use another one of those.

Casey Donaldson is not walking through that door, fans.  Mike Aljancic is not walking through that door and Anthony Crane is not walking through that door.

I'd toss up a pic of Pitino, but that's not my gimmick.   ;)

Even without Mr. Donaldson, the Tigers have held their own against the Little Giants.  Since 2000 they have split the series down the middle 4-4.  With Wabash taking two in 2002.  That was the year of the overtime thriller in Springfield.  Still one of the best games I've ever seen or been a part of, even though we lost.

All of this Witt talk is nice, but Wabash still needs to take care of business against Allegheny.

Too bad we don't have any Gheny posters to help steer conversation in that direction.  And it's Gheny's Homecoming week to boot.  No rah rah fluff from there.  ;)

aueagle,

Not to nitpick, but the synthetic turf at Selby is not the same brand/type as in the Shoe.  OWU used a company called Sportexe to install their Omnigrass product, whereas OSU used the industry giant FieldTurf to install their turf.  FieldTurf pretty much has the NFL/Major College market cornered, whereas everybody else including Sportexe is focusing on small colleges/high schools.  The products are very similiar, but there are differences that depending on who you talk to and want you want on your field, make a difference.  Rubber vs. sand mix, length of turf, type of turf, field weight, type of rubber, sewing method, glue type/method, etc... .  Lots of variables.

If any of you want to check out some new synthetic fields in central ohio, check out St. Charles, Gahanna Lincoln, Hamilton Township, and Grove City Christian.  All installed this summer by different companies (I think Gahanna and St. Charles had the same vendor).  Its good stuff - safe, cost-effective, and the kids love it.
