Way to go LG's!

Nice job Sobecki!

First 100 yd rusher in two years. (according to the radio)  It's amazing what Sobecki can do when he gets the ball with any consistency.  The running game is all about rhythm and Wabash rarely commits to it.

BB,
You're on a role with the prophetic words...hope they come true for next week too. Have any other words for next week?

WAF78

Just wanted to thank the Gheny team for muffing the extra point...so we could beat Wally's spread...lol. Great game Little Giants. The D really came up big when it needed too...and great running game. No doubt CC is very, very pleased with the running attack. Takes the pressure off Hudson a bit and makes the pass attack much more effective. 7 different receivers again this week catch a pass. Way to spread it around.

bashbrother

Great job to the Bash O-Line today.  It sounded like there were plenty of holes for the rushing attack to have a very productive day.

18-20 for 326 for Huffman in the first half.  A career high already for Huffman, and the 7th best individual passing performance in Witt history.  It will be interesting to see if he plays in the second half (I doubt it, and would hope he wouldn't).  If he's got it going, Witt has a GREAT chance to run the table.

Unfortunately he doesn't get to play against Earlham's "defense" every week.  We'll see how the kid does in his first trip to Hollett.

This is very true.  However, we all know how the Witt offense is predicated on the QB not necessarily making big plays, but having a strong completion percentage and keeping the team in the game without any major mistakes, and it seems Huffman has gotten his feet under him in those areas.

Next week will be a fun game, no doubt.

Wally...BB16 or any Bash folks

Does anyone think that this was a better AC team then what showed against Westmin., Hiram, & Dension.  They only scored 6 against Westmin., 20 on Hiram and 14 on Denison?  Do you think they "played Down" down against those teams? Does AC just get up to play Wabash?  The win against Carnegie Mellon showed us that AC was a good team.

What do you think we can take away from today's game in terms of this Wabash squad?

Looks like Wabash will be moving up a little more in the poll this week...

#6 UW-Lax loses their second straight game, this time to UW-Eau Claire
#9 ONU got blanked by MUC (they may not fall below Wabash)
#11 Warburg loses to Augsburg
#12 Trinity loses to Rhodes (wow...think they were looking ahead to DPU?)

and also right behind Wabash...

#17 B-W got rolled by Heidelberg as previously reported here
#19 Rowan loses
#21 Hardin-Simmons is getting handled by UMHB

Lots of attrition in the top 25 this week.

Allegheny always has talent and they are always well disciplined.  You earn everything you get against that team.  I think Allegheny is a team set up right now to play close games pretty much regardless of who they are playing.  The Gators are clearly pretty limited offensively...and that's not unexpected.  They are replacing a 3-year starter at QB with a kid who's really never seen action before, they are replacing their go-to RB Tarquino...Savage and Tarquino were the offense for the last few years there.  It'll take some time for AC to figure out who they can go to now and they haven't found it yet.  But their defense is solid and will keep them in just about every game regardless of how little the offense does.  And when the defense forces 5 turnovers like they did against CMU, AC is probably going to win.

What does Wabash take from this game?  For the first time, Hudson had to lead a drive after a mini-disaster (the muffed punt followed by the quick AC score)...I was concerned about how he would handle that.  He handled it expertly, confidently answering the AC score with one of his own.  Then in the fourth quarter when Wabash really needed a clock killing drive, Hudson got it done (with a lot of help from Sobecki) but the key play there was Hudson's pass to Russell on 4th and 3.

Winning on the road in college football is hard.  Doing so against a well disciplined team that thrives on your mistakes is even tougher.  Wabash didn't buckle under that pressure and got out with an 8 point win.

Schwami

Just back from Meadville.  Well over 100 Wabash fans in attendence, a good showing in that regard.  It was very hot.  Wabash seemed to step it up physically in the second half and had more in the tank than Allegheny.  Wabash really seemed to have the upper hand throughout the second half and played with a lot of confidence.  Probably harder on you folks listening on the radio than on those at the game. :D

About the muffed punt that led to Allegheny's first touchdown . . . the sun was very bright and I'm sure it caused Kimp trouble on that play.  Unfortunately he slipped as he tried to get out of the way of the ball, and darned if it didn't touch him.

The fumble by Porter . . . it was not a clean exchange.  I guess you can expect that with a 6'6" QB handing off to a 5'6" RB.  :-\

Otherwise the "two-headed monster" rushing attack was surprisingly effective in this game.  Did not see much of an attempt to stretch the field with the passing game.

Allegheny kept pace with Wabash through the third quarter mostly because of Salopek's ability to run (a lot of quarterback draw plays) and efficient passing.  Wabash will have to play much better against Huffman.  Allegheny really struggled after Salopek went out of the game.  The Wabash D was really bringing it at that time.  (I did not notice that he came back on the field for the final drive; I did not expect that.)  I was told by an Allegheny fan that it took Allegheny a couple of games to "find" their quarterback, and it looks like they found him.  No doubt the inexperience hurt them in their loss to Westminster in the first game of the year.  I suspect that they are much improved from the beginning of the season.

ScotLass

Nice Homecoming win for the Scots! Great to see Sheppard finally pass the 2,000 yd rushing mark for his career.

Woo's defense really stepped up and showed marked improvement. Had some players finally looking athletic. Here's hoping the offense is the next to make a move. Great to see the team as a whole keep up their efforts throughout the game.
