Wow, Wooster holds on to defeat Hiram 24-17.

Any news on ScotLass' condition?  ;)
Long shall we sing thy praises, Old Wabash

ScotLass is being transferred to a local tavern for further observation in guarded but stable condition.  ;D

Certainly hope a high-octane bolus brings "the Lass" around - always look forward to her pithy assessments!

I am back to read nothing but bad news for the Tiger Faithful....but in all for the day, great job by Witt, but a better job by Bash.  They did what it takes to be successful, and as mentioned earlier...Witt had several downs (and goal) inside the 10 in the frist quarter, but did not capitalize....Bash was the better team today.  Win out and do the NCAC proud in the post season.

This youthful Witt team has a bright future.  Great game today.

Huge win for Franklin today. Perhaps a possible playoff rematch in the works...

Good Games for everyone today.... Wabash comes up huge with a victory..... well played by Witt... had a little bit of everything...with fumbles and dropped passes..... Wooser escaped with a victory....Hiram played tough throughout the game....kept it a game after getting blown out for 2 straight weeks..  Oberlin came out blazing in the 2nd half to win easily over Earlham.... Allegheny was up 17-0 in th 2nd half last time i checked......

Next week should be interesting.... as the last two undefeateds face off both on big winning streaks....  Oberlin at Wabash...

I'd give the edge to the Bishops too....because it's at Selby...I think it will be close (wally 17.5?)

Final: OWU 27, Denison 10.  I'm not sayin', I'm just sayin'.   ;)

My research is complete....it's impossible to consume enough spirits to make that look pretty..... ;D

Good grief. So much to do....so little time.

Go Scots!!!

Good job LGs! Thanks to Brent for the 411, and I'm glad you guys had a better afternoon than I did. But there's nothing like walking along US 169 for about 7 miles north of Mille du Lacs.

Alright, I've decompressed, just watched my home state Beavers knock off #2 on the road, and I'm ready to share some thoughts about the Thrilla in C'villa...

- First, I want to mention the crowd.  Over 4100 for a fall break game?  This is unheard of.  And not only did the fans come out, the fans did their part...Hollett was rockin' today during big third and fourth downs, and especially during Witt's final drive.  This was awesome to see and I think this really underpins how important this particular game has become.

- I forget who asked if the endzones were Tennessee-esque...as it turns out, they are more Tennessee-esque than I would have imagined.  I have it on good authority that the endzone checkerboard is of the same dimensions used at General Neyland Stadium down in Knoxville.  And it really did look awesome.  I hope the checkerboard becomes a permanent fixture at Hollett.

- That first quarter was a doozy.  Witt controlled the ball for over 11 minutes in the first quarter, twice drove inside the 10-line yard line...yet only came out with 3 points.  I'm really not sure Witt could have played a better first quarter and to come away with just one field goal had to have been a little bit of a letdown for the Tigers.

- We fans of Wabash have been waiting very patiently for CC to open up the playbook for Hudson, and that's exactly what happened today.  Wabash threw more deep balls in the first half today than they have in the last month (this is barely an exaggeration).  Not all of those passes were complete, but the deep balls really opened up things for later in the game and the deep ball did put Wabash ahead early in the second quarter.  Hudson got picked off a couple of times on some balls that weren't well thrown, but overall you can't knock the kid too hard here.  He made some big throws, none bigger than the 3rd and 9 completion to Russell which, at the moment, seemed to have sealed up the game.

- What can you say about the Hard Hat D?  Nothing phases this group.  I'm still uncomfortable with the amount of 3rd down and long conversions they give up, but every game this year the D has come through when it matters.

- Quick impressions of Witt...they have good athletes, especially on defense, but they need some seasoning.  The Witt offense is definitely not the same without the standout running back (Murray, Grove, Donaldson).  Huffman has the ability to keep a lot of plays alive with his legs, but I really think that if Witt is going to win these kinds of big games without a program running back, Huffman is going to have get more accurate as a passer.  He missed a number of open receivers for big big gains today...plays that if converted would have been devastating.  This Witt group will be back and probably even better next year.

Overall it was a great game in C'ville...great crowd, very good football teams, and as exciting a game as anybody could have hoped for.  This one makes 10 wins in a row for the LGs, which is the third such streak Wabash has had in the last 6 years.  Next up for Wabash is the other remaining NCAC unbeaten, Oberlin.

The Wabash Witt game was a terrific game to watch....and really lived up to the hype and passion of all involved.....

First off I want to say that the Witt team was coached so well .....after reading about their coach and seeing all the records and history....I saw the evidence of his coaching......

I disagree with Wally about Huffman.....Huffman made enough plays to win...that last pass that Vanover dropped was something .....a better pass could not have been thrown.....and I beleive that had he caught it that they would have gone for two and made it and Sobecki would be having that hard time now....

Again like last week....very much a TEAM win...

But that said....Adi...Wow...Matt....makin plays...and Russell....Great hands, feet, mind and eyes to keep the concentration focused to make the tough catches.....

To me with that last dropped ball.....it did not feel like we won....it felt like we didn't lose....

Witt will be very very tough next year...

What a fine game played on both sides of the ball.....by both teams...

I can't imagine Fincham would have put his conference title and playoff spot up for grabs with a two point conversion there.  He would have taken the game to OT.  This definitely wasn't a Boise State nothing to lose and everything to gain situation.  But the pass fell incomplete and point is moot.  Wabash wins (yes, Wabash wins, not Wabash doesn't lose).

I'll let the Wooster Daily Record provide the bulk of the report on the Woo/Hiram game as I am still trying to recover....

No doubt Witt would go for one and the tie for OT. Man, that was close!
