Yeah, Brent Harris and Co. have been fantastic with giving us long distance fans a great view of the action.  The photography is top-notch and they post the pics on the website within a few hours or so of the game ending.

Thanks to Brent and everyone involved at Wabash!

Wheaton has some tough games left. They're not out of the woods yet.

Wheaton has:

@Elmhurst (lost last 3 to augie, ncc and IWU)
vs Carthage (beat augie at home today)
@IWU (for the AQ and a possibly #2 seed in North for Wheaton)

They already beat North Central and Augie. Their biggest issue is injuries. Worst year ever. They are on their 3rd qb and without 3 of their top 5 dlinemen, including the best defensive lineman in the country, Andy Studebaker. Many of these guys are back over the next couple weeks however.

Schwami

Yes, you gotta be impressed with Wheaton's resilience to pull out the tough wins with all the injuries they have had.

Hmmm, just noticed that Cap's loss actually hurts Wabash's OOWP  ::)
Long shall we sing thy praises, Old Wabash

Terrible Terrier

For Sale CHEAP......2 tickets to the stagg bowl, 2 round trip airline tickets from Hiram Ohio to Salem VA... will consider all fair cash offers or will trade for several D1 transfers
The Terriers might not beat you on the football field, but we always leave our mark!

Smeds - you are hilarious.  Is the top 25 based on the strength of the NCAC?  St.Olaf's jump a few weeks back from #18 to #13 raised question marks.  Then they get blasted by an UNRANKED Bethel team...but you still say, ya their ranking is justified....whatever........

Moving on.

Question:  Is this CC's best coaching job in his career?  It was apparent very early on yesterday that Oberlin had absolutely no chance.  I loved Bash's focus and the last 2 weeks, CC has really opened the playbook and Hudson's throws to stretch the field have been huge.  Its been fun to watch.  I still can't believe Hudson's numbers - strong!

Pat Coleman

It was justifiable at the time. And oddly enough, more games have been played since. It's a moving target.

And just as a reminder, Bethel did get the 28th-most votes this week, so it's not like this came out of nowhere. There are 213 teams each week that are unranked but not all are the same.

BB16,
I would tend to agree with you primarily because of all the injuries he has had to work around. Not only losing your stud, senior, record breaking QB...but all sorts of injuries to the O line...with guys being lost for the season. And then the D...rising to the occasion with their bend but not break defense. I agree BB...CC has done one heck of a job with all sorts of strikes against him early in the season.

Wheaton has some tough games left. They're not out of the woods yet.

Nevermind the fact that Wheaton is playing with their 3rd string QB (who went 21-28 for 280 yards and 4 TD yesterday), 3 of their top 5 DL are out (including Andrew Studebaker, All-American DE), a freshman RB is getting a fair percentage of the carries, their All-American CB is playing with a broken thumb... the list goes on.

Before each game you can easily identify the team captains, as they are the ones who go to mid-field for the coin toss using crutches and canes.  No exaggeration... Andrew Studebaker goes on crutches and McKinney (OLB lost for the season during the 1st week of practice with a blown ACL) uses a cane.

I can't remember a Wheaton team with so many injuries to so many key players, yet they have found a way to keep winning.  I have not been more impressed with a 7-0 Wheaton team.  Not because the level of play per se, but because they have overcome so much adversity, rallied as a team, and have had 2nd string and even 3rd string players step up to fill in for injured 1st Team All-Conference and even All-American starters.

Sorry for the redundant post... I didn't see Usee's post before I made mine.  But the message is the same... Wheaton is battered, but fighting on and is still in the drivers seat.

I certainly never meant to imply they aren't doing well dealing with their injuries. Just that they have some important football left to be played.

No problem.  I didn't read it that way...

I was trying to point out that beyond the tough games they have remaining, injuries may prove to be a bigger foe, though they have fought through it to this point.

Every week we keep saying it can't get any worse, then another starter goes down.  Sure would be nice if a few of these guys could get healthy.

Most Wheaton posters came into this season with a sense of excitement at the potential this team had.  Very, very talented...   Now there are far more questions as to how far this team will go... even if it can get through the conference schedule unscathed.

But the level of admiration and respect for what the team and staff has been able to due despite the circumstances is off the charts.
