I think he's listed at 235 on the DPU roster.  Adi was giving up 20 pounds or so there.  That DPU fullback didn't play the rest of the game after that hit.

Depauw always has a bowling ball FB in the backfield.

There's an ex Wabash baseball player and Hanover footballer and I looking at that tape now and laughing at how the guy "plops" down.

the baseball player said the women tend to be that shape as well.

Tough losses all the way around Saturday.  Will be at Fawcett Saturday watching Steubenville and Cardinal Mooney.  That will be like a d2 or d3 game.
No doubt Wooster improved as the season progressed. All Confernce teams should be announced soon and spark fun discussion.   I know it is early, but a few good men here and there and the Scots should be in the thick of things.

Just saw Adi's hit.  Great hit, but did anyone else cringe as he appeared to lead with his head?  I have seen more head injuries this year at all levels than I can ever remember, especially concussions.  19 tackles, wow! Are the Monon Bell games always close, no matter the season records?

Usually it's close and hard fought. Sometimes one team blows the other out either expectedly or unexpectedly.

More on "The Hit"...That DPU back was a big boy...shuffle, fill, hit..textbook by the LG...anyway...HUGE hit..nike: My concern was the head position...on the endzone shot, it looked as though he might have lowered it to the right of the RB. Still...Ouch!! Look out for Mentor in the Ohio HS playoffs....My friend's team lost to them this season..he said they are tough...Are we going to be able to watch LG's on the web this week...why are the Bishops & LG's NOT playing the next 2 years....tell me I mis-read the 2008/09 future schedules...OWU QB Fisher gets my nod for Newcomer of '08 and HM QB....GO BISHOPS

I heard it was a broken foot on that play.

Was a very good hit, certainly.  Nobody has ever made Brett Claxton go the other direction.  Ever.

I had taken it as a given that Wabash and OWU were playing...closer inspection says otherwise.  That is most unfortunate.

Newcomer of the Year...Fisher would be a good call but Hudson is getting this award.     I think Hudson should be getting the Gregory Award as well, but Hudson for newcomer absolutely has to be a lock.

If Hudson is a Sophomore I don't think he should be illegible for the Award.  Also, Don't forget about Foremen from EC, he had a great year!  The Gregory Award needs to go to Vanover or RV not Hudson.  I feel that any good (not Great) QB looks great throwing to the Wabash WR's.

Murray won the newcomer award as a junior transfer and Sutton won the award as a sophomore transfer.  Hudson is perfectly eligible.

In a year with no real off the page kind of standout from a team that didn't win the conference, Hudson breaking the conference record for PER (tentatively...he's still got games to play, but through 10 games, he's ahead of the record) and smashing the conference record for completion percentage seems like a good choice.  What RV and Vanover have done, we've seen before.  Hudson has done things that nobody has ever done in the NCAC.  It merits strong consideration at the very least.

Wally,
I can not disagree more that Hudson SHOULD NOT be illegible for the Newcomer of the year award! Both Sutton and Murry were Newcomers to the NCAC (maybe not college football) but Hudson is in his 2nd year at Wabash in his 2nd year in the Wabash offense in his 2nd year under CC and most important IN HIS 2ND YEAR IN THE NCAC. Why should the NCAC Coaches bend the rules for him?  If he is that good then he will win the Gregory Award this year or Next year or the year after that.  Let the True Newcomers have their award!  After all it is a 10 team League not just Wabash!
OPY: RV
DPY: Adi
NCY: Fisher or Foremore
Coach: Ramsey (Who did CC really beat, the only other team over 500 in the NCAC was Witt and they returned just a handful of starters and they lost their Stud LB (#44) the 2nd Half of the Wabash game or they may not have won that game)

Re: OWU/LG game...Very poor on the part of NCAC leaders...and they have a bye week too....and to wait 2 yrs to play? Weak! I forgot about Formen (EC), outstanding year...I just figure the LG's will stack the deck with 1st teamers that the Bishops might get an award!! Gotta put my boy up there. Really can't argue the selection of Hudson. Good shot of CC and the LG's in the classroom on your site...If you guys beat MSJ..then you sweep Ohio in 2008. 4 days and a wake-up Wabash...the NCAC is behind you all the way.....

This is a good topic to discuss...what exactly constitutes a newcomer?  Historically it's been anybody who didn't play the year before.  True, Hudson is in his second year, but Hudson didn't take a single snap last year.  His first college snap came on a kneel down at the end of the Franklin game in week 1.  Murray and Sutton both had played college football before coming to the NCAC.  In that respect, Hudson is much more of a newcomer than either of those two.

The answer is CC beat every other coach in the league, including scratching one out over your guy Ramsey 45-14.  Ramsey going 5-2 in '03 was awesome and shocking and he probably should have been awarded there.  5-2 this year, against a league that is really, really down wasn't nearly as shocking.  I think most people had Oberlin pegged for 4 wins in the conference...the win over Gheny was a mild surprise, but the Gators apparently went in the tank over the last few weeks.
