Sorry I didn't post earlier, but I was upset to see the Little Giants fall a couple of weeks ago. I really wanted to see them come out of the North, but I guess it wasn't meant to be.

So, how does next season look?? returning seniors hopefully?

best of luck

Next year should be interesting.  In 2008 the strength of the team was at the LOS.  Tons of experience and talented players lined up on both lines for Wabash this past season.  In 2009, the strength of the team is going to have to be from the outside in as that's where the experience will be.  I'd also have to guess that high on Coach Raeburn's Christmas wish list is a running back.  The LGs are really going to need some new legs there as Sobecki, Kimp, and Pilli have all finished their careers.

Prospects for 2009...my way-too-early-to-possibly-be-right hunch tells me that 2009 is looking like a toss up in the NCAC between Wabash, Wooster, and Wittenberg.  Wittenberg ought to have their quarterback back which will make a world of difference for their offense.  Wooster brings back a good number of their top players as well.  Wabash gets those two on consecutive weeks; Witt at home, followed by Wooster on the road.  Given the drain that Wabash's games vs. Wittenberg tend to be and then how difficult it is to play at Wooster, I think Wooster may have a slight advantage based on the way the schedule lays out.  Whatever the case, we'll know whether or not Wabash is going to the postseason again by Halloween.

Good luck to UW-W on Saturday,
wally_warhawk (for this week at least  ;))

Is Evan Sobecki graduating early (ala Brock Graham) or studying abroad next year?  I thought he was a junior this past season ???

Nope, I'm dumb.  Sobecki is listed as a junior.  Not sure why I thought otherwise.

But I still think RB is a recruiting priority if not THE recruiting priority.  The top teams in D-III almost without exception seem to have not good, but great RBs.  I'd like to see one wearing scarlet and white on Saturdays very soon.   :)

The AFCA All-American team was named today.  Bubba Lange earned well-deserved DL honors, as did Kenyon's OL Yancy Edwards.  Congrats to both, and especially Bubba on a great career!

Congratulations to former Wabash head coach Stan Parrish, who will succeed Brady Hoke as the head coach at Ball State.  He will also continue as offensive coordinator.

First sales job will be convincing Nate Davis to return.

Great to see Coach Parrish get another shot as a HC... here's to wishing him the kind of success enjoyed at Wabash!  ;)

His stock will never be as high as it after this season.  I think the smart thing to do for Parish is to wish him luck and then start recruiting kids by telling them, he helped Davis get his stock as high as possible..

Happy Holidays to my friends here on Post Patterns!  It's good to be back in the midwest after spending most of the last week playing planes, trains, and automobiles traveling to and from Oregon.  You'd swear it has never snowed in Portland before.   I hope everybody is enjoying their time off and comes back in 2009 with even more of the lively discussion we've become accustomed to here.   :)

Didn't end up playing the little spoon with John Candy, did you?
