Somehow the 'new coaching opportunity' thing doesn't wash for me. I've heard 'bad' things and now I've heard this, which is a good thing for Walker, but the secrecy and the purging that has happened was quite quickly.

It's like Wags had his finger on the delete key within 30 seconds of being notified about Walker.

Maybe he got caught sleeping w/ a cheerleader, secretary, or player.

Highly inappropriate comment about Coach Walker.  I recommend you edit your post and refrain from speculations containing personal or character attacks.

Lots of good talk here...there's definitely something about the way all of this has gone down that doesn't pass the smell test.  What gets me right now is that there is very obviously a story here.  Where is the reporting on this?  It's the second week of August...what are the local papers possibly covering in a sports section right now that is a better story than this?

The Paper of MC is trying to cover it - they interviewed county DPU turncoats, er, players.

But it's hard to cover a story with the wall of silence, and I guess even though the Paper's Sports Editor is a DPU grad, he doesn't have any inside dope.

I hope people realize the turncoat thing is a joke. But really, how can one see the beauty and righteous thing in the county he lives in and turn his back and head to...the enemy?  ;)

Well, it is speculation, and whether said in private messages or in public, the speculation is out there. Some theories are more plausible than others. But without a statement from either Walker or DPU, then the speculation will run rampant, and that's not going to be a good thing for ANYONE.

It's different than the Carlson situation at Wabash in that Carlson was let go AFTER the season and not right before camp started and not long before school started. May or June would have been the normal time to let him go if something weird wasn't afoot.

Hey wally_wabash....
It's not always easy to get a story when you are stonewalled. Newspapers can't print something without it being confirmed. We have plenty of bits and pieces, but we can't print that. It's amazing how many people want to know the story but won't go on record or "can't comment." sometimes the best stories re the ones that never get printed because of the lack confirmation. Believe me there are papers trying to break the real story.... it just may not happen for a while - but it won't be because of the lack of trying. Just wanted to let you know there are some of us who on on top of the situation and are close to having something to print.

Sourcing policies?  Bah...this is why we have blogs.   :)

I kid.  It's all good bearmo...I'm probably a little spoiled in today's world of instant information sharing.  Four days seems like an eternity in today's world of insta-everything.  You guys do good work...looking forward to your story if/when you can nail it down.

This is definitely good Theater..... created specifically because of the silence on both sides.

If the story would have come out last week, there is a good chance we would actually be talking about the upcoming season and camp starting week by now.

Why should you go for it on 4th down?

At first ... figured it was just DePauw being DePauw.  But now leaning toward the more "cookey jar" issues

... the last couple of years DePauw had difficulty making their enrollment numbers ... while all the while the football team did very well.  (This year, by the by, the Dannies are on schedule to make their Frosh numbers, as I understand it.)  Hmmm

... fraternization cookie jar issues could cause a good Methodist school to cough ... although their tollerance would seem to be on the increase

... liquor/criminal issues could cause this ... although our "newseys" would seem to be watching the blotters ... thus this is probably not it (unless a more covert act/action)

... JUMP FOR NEW JOB ... naw ... this would not cause such an information shut down and no info to assistant coaches or student athletes

... come on bearmo17 ... do your stuff.   Where are those Mexican Exchange Students when you need them. They could get it out of the Dannie President.

Remember when Earlham was leaving the league?  That seems like a year and a half ago.

Sex, violence, drugs, or money.

Or a combination of any of them.

That is my guess.

I know a guy who could have this thing figured out in a day.
