It's been a happily unproductive morning in my office thanks to the arrival of the Kickoff.

Once again, it is a fantastic job by the D3football.com crew. This thing gets better every year.

If you haven't purchased yet, go do it.  ;)

I'll be getting mine after work.  I've got too much to get done today to tempt myself into opening the Kickoff.  Can't wait to check it out though.

For those who haven't purchased it, Kickoff this year is superb. There's some great stuff.

Pat interviews Coach Long from DPU, including questions about Walker, Race, and Playoffs vs. the bell. Another fave so far is Gordon Mann's piece analyzing program expenses across d3.

I noticed in that article that us and St. John's are the ones that have no available data. Are we not required to file that because we're all-male? The name of the statute was "Equity in Athletics" so it would make sense that it is to show dollar-for-dollar comparisons between men's and women's athletics. But Hampden-Sydney is there with data. Hmm.

Classes started Monday at OWU.....
KICKOFF is out for D3...........
And the Bishop website STILL has 2008 season overview....
luvncac: Any word on the srimmage?

In terms of conference conversation, it seems there was some disagreement among those compiling the NCAC capsules for Kickoff '09. In the overview, Wabash is predicted to go 10-0 7-0. In the individual reports, however, Wooster is predicted to come out on top. Wabash is 9-1 6-1, Wooster is 10-0 7-0.

Add Earlham to the list of NCAC schools with updated/upgraded athletics websites.

Little Giants first 4 Game Preview and Predictions

Game 1 - Wabash vs. Denison -    Wabash is 7-0 vs. the Big Red since joining the NCAC outscoring them 332 - 93.  Last years game at Denison was actually the closest contest in the recent series, a 14 point spread.  41-27.

Prediction:  Bombs away.  Wabash 42   Dension 10 (First play Harbaugh to Summers....ooops...I mean Hudson to Lemond.  ;))

Game 2 - Wabash at Chicago -  I remember the first half of last years game well.  We scored on our opening drive and then the talented RB for Chicago, T. Parks, (Crown Point, IN) controlled the clock for most of the second half on the ground without yielding points for UC..... Parks then got hurt and Dan Ryan Wood returned an interception 64 yards for TD with seconds to go in the half and the scare was over.... Wabash went on to win easily 49-7.

Prediction:  Maroon RB, T. Parks is back this year and the Wabash defensive front could take awhile to gel.  Wabash wins with it's powerful passing game, but it is closer then most would think.
Wabash 28  Chicago 14

Game 3 - Wabash vs. Kenyon -     Last year Kenyon had a hard time stopping much of anything the Wabash Offense wanted to do.  300+ passing, 200+ yards rushing.   Lemond had 12 catches for 228 yards and 4 Td's (his coming out party).   Wabash walked away with it - 55-13.  It looks to be the first time the Lords have ever traveled to Crawfordsville. Welcome.

Prediction:  Should be a carbon copy.  Hudson to Cody and Wes all day in this one.
Wabash 49 Kenyon 7. (late 7)

Game 4 - Wabash at Gheny -  Wow.... you know in sports how certain teams, no matter how good or bad they are, will always play each other close.   This is one of those games.  The last three trips the LG's have taken to Meadville, the games have been 28-20 (W), 27-21(W) and the worst game I ever watched on radio (;)) the 7-6 (A) debocal in 2003.  (Sorry Russ for the flashbacks.)

Prediction:  Rain, Wind, Hurricane, or Swine Flu; this will be close again.  Wabash 21 Gheny 17.  (Last Prediction - Gadget play with Belton lining up at receiver or J-back in this one.)

FOOTBALL SEASON IS HERE!!!!

bashbrother-

I will make one amendment to your capsule on the Kenyon matchup.  Living up to my nom de plume...this is Kenyon's first time in Crawfordsville as a conference opponent.  The Lords came to Crawfordsville in my senior year in 1978.  This was Stan Parrish's first year as HC and a year before the establishment of "Air Parrish."  As I remember Kenyon had a receiver that we could not stop from catching the ball and we struggled scoring points that season.  Fortunately we kept him from the endzone, Wabash won, 6-3.  Thank goodness the defense that year allowed only 59 points scored on them in 9 games. The '77 game was at Kenyon, but have no info on on the the 2 prior meetings.

Repulse them, repulse them!  Make them relinquish the ellipsoid!

I'm just scratching the surface of Kickoff '09 and it is tremendous (as usual) so far.  Very highly recommended to everybody that has even an remote interest in D-III football.  The few features that I've read so far are great.

This seems to have been fixed already, but Wabash is our prediction.

Glad you guys enjoy it. Hope Wabash fans read the main feature story, too. :)

aueagle: If you need an OWU preview, get Kickoff. I actually spoke to Hollway myself.

Yes, SJU and Wabash are not required to file. I would have to think Hampden-Sydney is not required to file either, but it appears they did.

The coaches have spoken...D3football.com has spoken...how do the fans see the NCAC playing out in 2009?  It's prediction time!

2.7 seconds. An average football player may need more time to score; a great one finds a way. I've seen greatness happen.

Yea I'm a Woo fan........but what if this happened?

Predicted record:

Wabash 9-1, 6-1

(Lost a close one to Witt, beat Woo after their nasty 3 week stretch/ Case, @ Wash U, Bash)

Wooster 9-1, 6-1

(Pulled one off at home against Case, Lost to Bash, Won close one with Witt)

Wittenberg 9-1, 6-1

(Stayed healthy enough to knock Bash off, but sllipped up in week 10)

How does this play out? Haha, yes I'm bored! ;D

I believe in that scenario.....

Wooster goes to the Playoffs as the AQ.  The first tie-break is head-to-head and then at the end of the day after a few other tie-break details that 9-1 teams would all share, they would get it because they have not been to the Playoffs since 2004.  (Witt 2006, Wabash 2008)

Pretty sure that we be how it would work.

Now, if Woo dropped the game to Case, but still finished the NCAC season 6-1, I am not sure how it would turn out.  It may still end up the same.

Gonna be a great year and the W's better all be on their games against each other.
