BB16,

I'm still laughing...I will pick "C," only because the other two might have landed you in the pokey (or the hospital), which could have prevented your most excellent post (or do they now have wireless "in-cell?").

BB16 - hilarious  ;D ;D  The "bluebook version" must be great if multiple-beered...

I don't think I'm buying that the NCAC-UAA agreement keeps Wabash from scheduling Mt. Union.  Allegheny is able to schedule two games outside the agreement, why can't Wabash?

Mind you, I'm not saying they should schedule Mt. Union.   ;)

Can't begin to unravel the scheduling ins/outs of the NCAC, much less the UAA agreement.  Allegheny only plays CMU under the agreement, Earlham plays none, and others play two of your conference cronies.  Luck of the draw?

QuoteSo the question -  Is this the best 2 - receiver combination in recent times?

Whatever Bash fans answer is to the question, I am just glad we have them on our side.

I also can't speak for many of the 90s, 2000s since I was off working and starting a family, but when I was there, Chris Wiesehan and Eric Snively were a force.

One of my most painful memories of college was watching Chris Ings hobble back on one leg, throw up a prayer in the Bell game's final minute, and see Wiesehan haul it in for the go-ahead 30-ish yard TD, only to have it called back for holding. Would have rivaled the Catch for a Bell Game finish. At least Costa banged in a 44-yarder to end it in a tie and keep the Bell. But the partying that night was subdued compared to the craziness from the year before.

Also, when I was a freshman, we had Mike Funk and another guy (transfer from Wisconsin, can't remember his name - Wallace?) that were a pretty good 1-2 punch. Although Mike Funk and anybody would have been a good 1-2 combo.

In regards to the Case/ Wooster game....

If Wooster plays a solid game and knocks off Case, does Case lose some credibility (lack of scheduling as people say), or will Wooster gain some respect (since they haven't beat a big dog yet in the past few years.)?

Yes.

Haha, thats what I thought..... a little bit of both, kind of a bad question. I do believe this game will be closer than most people think though.

BB16 -  Classic story.   Did he mention anything about where the Bell is buried?  ;D

CASE/WOOSTER - From a total outsider that hasn't seen either team play this year and has just casually followed both teams statistically,  I wouldn't be surprised at anything that happens on Saturday.  If I had to pick, I believe that Case wins the game 28-14.

Pass defense and containing both QB's running is the key for both teams.  The team that does this the best, I believe will come away with a victory. (turnovers, penalties and special teams aside)

Why should you go for it on 4th down?

Wabash best WR tandem...sorry fellas but JD Flynn and Serge?  Both nice players, JD had a huge senior season with Knott at QB but I am not sure he was a 4-year producer like some of our others.

Mike Funk & Steve Wallace would have been unreal but Wallace tore his ACL against Albion in game 1 after about 12 catches and about 170 opposite of Mike who caught 87 balls that season.  Wallace was a D1 transfer (2 sports mind you in track and football!) from Wisconsin, graduated from Lawrence North H.S. and was the Marion County Athlete of the year his senior season.  Not only that, he was the state champ in the high hurdles and was a legit 6'2.  Wabash Hall of Fame QB Brett Butler (6'5) was their QB too - crazy stuff.  Wallace was one funny dude too I might add!  Funk ended that season as a 1st team Kodak All American, #2 in all divisions in receptions, and was the ICAC O Player of the Year that season.  Not too bad.

Weisehan and Snively were very solid in the early 90's.
Lemond and Chamblee are definitely up there and if they both can stay healthy, should both finish high on the charts.  They are a blast to watch too, especially after the catch.

Congrats to Bishop Sr/LB Sam Bixler for NCAC Player of the Week for his play against Oberlin...
10 tackles/2 for loss/forced fumble/INT to seal win.....Great job from the kid out of Colorado.

I look for the Bishops to be on a win streak...#2 will be won in Gambier.

luvncac: Wasn't at Selby for the fun....Should be for Earlham...Might go to Hiram or Washington....
Always good times at The Bag of Nails.....

Not sure of Wooster's team health, but CWRU  RB Meyer and CB Bott are questionable for the game.  DT Dale English is hobbled a bit, but will play.

Still the fishies go back to Cleveland.  31-14

And how will Earlham's likely departure affect the 2010 and 2011 schedules?  Allegheny does play both CWRU and CMU those years as things stand now.

Assuming Wabash's two UAA games were mandated by the NCAC, they have NO flexibility on non-con games.  You don't think they're gonna cancel the Monon Bell, do you? ;D

Even if they did, I don't think I'd want to schedule my uncle, even if he DIDN"T coach MUC! :D  Those family reunions could get nasty! :o

Earlham's departure may open up a game, however, the other issue is when the game is played. Wabash never plays on week 1. Never has. Never will, I bet. Mt. Union's non-conference game is always week 1.
