What's wrong with Hudson?  If he can't plan the answer is simple: no.

Obviously, we would be better off with our starting QB under center, but I will disagree that we can't win without him. Our starting running back got injured preseason and look at how the "back up" has responded.

These kids are all ready to step up when called upon, and trust me, all the veteran players on the team are ready to raise their level of play, if Hudson is lost for the game. These players really believe that they are family, if you don't believe, just wait until Saturday!

In 2007, Wabash lost their beast starting senior QB to injury after the first game.  For the next few weeks, the LGs played musical quarterbacks trying to find a QB.  While trying to find that QB, the LGs won their games (the offense was more conservative for sure), and sophomore Matt Hudson was under center when the music stopped.  Witt came to town with the experience advantage at QB, the rookie QB responded with a good game and Wabash won the contest and wound up in a regional final that year.

Wabash has gotten outstanding quarterback play for the last decade.  One quarterback graduates or has to miss a game or several due to injury and the next guy steps in and has success.  There's more to it than just the guy taking the snaps.  If #14 can't play, certainly Wabash loses experience which can not be replaced.  But this adversity has been overcome before....there are a lot of good players on the team and they will have every opportunity to succeed on Saturday.

Let's line Mambourg up in the gun...WildGiant offense!   :)

agree fully Wally.

If Hudson cannot go.... the stable is not empty.   One of the best O-Line's Wabash has seen for awhile and a talented group of experienced skill players will surround the back-up to keep the train rolling.

Plus, a defense that is turning into a pretty darn good unit.

Wes in the WallyCat would'nt be bad as well.  ;)

Heh, heh... no huddle, "WallyCat" could be very entertaining... kinda like kicking the top off of a fire ant mound.  ;D

Well ... it is what it is.  Those QBs behind Hudson were good at their respective HSs and earned their places here directly behind Hudson.  Now is their time to make a statement.  Other than that:  Same ole line which protects and opened the holes so well.  Same ole D which is playing its heart out.  Same ole receivers who can catch anything within the same zip code as they are.  Same ole RBs who are doing just fine.  Same ole Wabash crowd which attends, supports, bleeds Wabash.  Same ole WAF

I say be there or be square!  We Are Wabash !

Well said, wabco.  Well said indeed.

That injury does not sound like it is enjoyable at all.  Do not envy Mr. Hudson this week.

Sorry Doc...you just don't get it about Wabash...Not sure if your an alum or what...but you clearly don't get it about Wabash and the Stellar Program they have been producing...

Since I have been watching and closely following Wabash...Harbaugh...then Huff...then Hudson...the stable is still full...and if he does not play the only change is the amount of perceived adversity...This program does not run with wheels that come off....

My money is on Wabash this week....Hudson or no Hudson

WABASH ALWAYS FIGHTS

wally_wabash

I think it's easy to have a kneejerk reation like that.  I remember when Huff stayed down after that onsides kick vs. Franklin in 2007...and how utterly devastated the stadium was in those moments following a great win, against a really good team, in what was a really great game.  I don't think I'm overstating the situation to say that there wasn't a lot of optimism in those immediate moments either.  Remember, after Huff, Wabash was left with a guy who had transferred in that fall and a number of other guys who had never sniffed a varsity two-deep (they had all played behind Harbaugh and Huff previously).  Again, those "other guys" managed to step in, beat Witt, and help get the team to a regional final.  There are players on this depth chart, we just don't know who they are...yet.

Re: SOS...This is interesting.  There are 227 teams on the SOS list that have played a regional game.  Of those 227, Witt is 224th (!!) in OWP.  Yikes.  Draw your own conclusions...IMO, it doesn't mean squat.  When I give the eyeball test to Wabash's schedule and Witt's schedule, I really don't see nearly the difference that the numbers would suggest.  It's just interesting how different those OWP numbers can be.

Well, according to Massey, Wabash's power ranking is 34 and Witt's is 56.

Wabash's SOS is 179 and Witt's is 207.

So basically this is the first tough test for each team. This will reveal national contender vs. NCAC pretender.

The great football teams can overcome injuries. Heck, everyone wrote off the Patriots when Drew Bledsoe got hurt, and look who replaced him.

Although it's not the game of the week (Witt @ Bash) here's some pre-game notes on Wooster @ Wash U:

For those Wooster fans looking to make the trip to St. Louis, Wash U is a beautiful school with great facilities.  Worth the trip.

Having seen the game last week, this Wash U team is disciplined and well coached.   I wouldn't the expect the Wash U team that played Witt to show up.  I think Wabash may have expected that early.
