Playing for the 6 seed, ideally.  They'd like to go to the 2 seed in round 2 instead of the 1 seed.

I think they'll be the 8 if they lose.  They won't get all the way to the 3 ahead of MSJ if they stay North.  MSJ does have to deal with Thomas More in the Bridge Bowl on Saturday, however.  But, IWU and Case will both win.

If Wabash loses, I look at the region rankings in the North and think it's a pretty easy plug and play to put DePauw at 6 where Wabash currently is and maybe move UWW into the 1 and you've got a bracket that works.  Yeah, the region ranking isn't the end of the conversation, but all 8 of the teams we're talking about are within 500 miles.

ONU @ UWW
Trine @ Witt
DePauw @ MSJ
Case @ IWU

Although, there may be a MSJ loss to mess around with.

Case will likely end up as the 3 or 4 seed, not 5 (assuming they win).  They should be ahead of IWU and if MSJ loses, they will move ahead of them as well.

I can't believe that kickoff for the 116th  playing of The Monon Bell Classic football game is in just over 22 hours and no one has posted at all today!

It is supposed to be mid 60's, mostly sunny and dry. What a day for a football game and no one is talking....

CLICK - CLACK

Okay then, here is something to break up the "tenseness in the air" here! ;)  Does anyone remember what exact year it was back in the 1990's when the Monon Bell game was featured in Sports Illustrated?  You might recall that was the story about one of the more "heinous" ??? ::) ;D :P :D antics pulled by the schools in which some students of one (I can't remember if Wabash people stole the Bell from DePauw - I think it was that way - or vice versa) stole the Bell, placed it on their own campus and were soon arrested and thrown in jail for theft!!  That was a great story, but also because it told more in-depth about the great tradtion of this game in all of college football, including the "big time" schools.

No one is talking because they're all on Breckinridge's board trading insults.Of the infantile variety. Fortunately, this board has returned to a sane level of discussion, even commenting on the issues which might affect the final score. GOOOOOO BASH!

1993.  Check out the 116th Annual Monon Bell thread under "General Football" - p.18.  BashDad posted the article.

Thanks wabashpa.  I saved that issue and will pull it out later tonight.  Always fun to revisit/reread past articles about such games.  Wow, I also hadn't realized it was that long ago - I was thinking it had been about 1996 or 1997.

On the eve of the great battle...the Wabash faithful are going to the student newspaper. The knuckle draggers never surprise...but always entertain.  :D
