Remember all that talk about being big and nasty that got laughed off, scoffed at, and all the rest?

Meet CJ. CJ's pretty nasty.

WabashOline09

During practice when C.J. showed up as a freshman, we noticed that he enjoyed laying the wood. At one point, during his sophomore year, the OLine had a "C.J. Gum concussion counter" for the damage he inflicted on the scout line. Needless to say, C.J. likes to hit, regardless of who it is.

I would be remiss if I didn't take a moment from my Bell revelry to congratulate Wittenberg on their 10-0 season and outright NCAC championship.  Those guys played in "eff you" mode all year and got themselves a well earned championship.  Witt's been impressive this season.  I'm hoping to get another shot at those guys in the playoffs, but if that happens and whatever the result is, Witt are the champs in 2009.  Congrats, Tigers.

This.

I hope we get in the field and have another epic Witt/Wabash battle.

Well.
Wooster's season ends with a whimper as they get pounded by Wittenberg. A season that started with "dreams of a NCAC Championship" turned sour quickly.

The defense stopped no one all year. Result of poor coaching. This put to much pressure on the offense.
The offense turned the ball over to often and their game plan seemed to be lacking.
Overall, the best thing about this season was the make over of Papp Stadium.

8070 from the boxscore, d3db. :)

Thanks wally.  I must admit that is a little disappointing in that it breaks the string of 11,000+ the past 3 years or so.  Also, I would have thought that with such a beautiful (albeit uncharacteristic) November day for football, that more fans would have showed up for the game, again to equal the recent years' attendance.  Besides, it wasn't like both teams were having down years, even though this was "The Bell Game" and that it basically doesn't matter what the records are when it's time for that game.  Still, 8070 is an excellent crowd and I'd take that any day (even for any game).  Anyway, congratulations to you and your Wabash team for the victory and..."You got the Bell"!

DePauw has consistently limited tickets to about 8000. The five figure attendance numbers have been happening in C'Ville since 2002 I believe :)

Oh, I forgot that some of you had discussed that earlier this week and last.  Too bad DePauw does that; no legit reason not to, IMO.  Thus, the 5-figure attendance "streak" is basically still intact then for all practical purposes! ;)

QuoteNot in recent history.  He's the best in their entire history.  Spud is DPU's Jake Knott...which is not to say that Spud is half the player Jake was, but he's the DPU equivalent.

You know, it's really hard to compare Knott to Ings to Broecker to Harvey and others. They were all asked to do different things with different offensive strategies and different personnel.

DPU's QB tradition isn't as deep. Voris, Wiethoff and Lee were pretty good. I'd say Dick and Voris are their best two ever, though Wiethoff could give anyone fits with his running ability.

As far as quarterbacks go, Weithoff was a great punter. :)

I think Wabash will likely be a 5 seed and go to IWU, unless there is a lot of inter-region movement.
