Congrats to Witt on a successful season and their performance in the playoffs.  They represented the NCAC well.

Although I did follow the game  real closely, Wittenberg played a great game!

Congrats to them and they will be tough in 2010!

Great season. Let's hope next year the NCAC can get beyond the round of 8!

Dan the Man,

Since when does that statistic equate to playing "chippy" or "dirty?"  Wouldn't the applicable stat be # of personal foul penalties?

If you have acess to a more specific stat on this, post it. That would be better for proving a point than anecdotes about a particular single game or player. I don't condone dirty playing or players, but I don't think it is fair to characterize an entire team that way either, based on limited evidence.

I had 2 questions related to the UW-W/Wittenberg game this past Saturday...how was Whitewater allowed to have their band?  Isn't that a NCAA playoff rule?  Secondly, after the Warhawks scores, they seemed to have been playing music on the PA.  Again, I didn't think you could do that either?  Just curious.  I remember when we played Capital in 2005, they brought a speaker (for school song after TD's)or cannon but it set outside the stadium.  Can anyone clarify?

Not entirely sure...maybe the band isn't classified as an artificial noise maker (like our cannon is) in the NCAA's eyes???

Out of respect for the PAT...they do tune it down a few decibels, then fire it back up after the ball is kicked.

Outside UWW, do no other bands play in the stands during the playoffs??? I guess i assumed they did, i don't know.

From the Handbook:
QuoteBand members who are in uniform and performing at the championship, will not
be charged admission to the competition. Bands, or any component thereof, are not
allowed to play after the ball has been declared ready for play by the referee. Bands
are allowed to play during timeouts and before and after the competition. Bands are
not allowed to play during the game once the ball is spotted and the umpire backs
away from the ball. Halftime activities are the responsibility of the host; however, the
visiting team may request an opportunity to participate.

A female uniformed officer found my wife in a very timely manner to "disuade" her beautiful rendition of "Cowbells in Whitewater."

BB 16- McKinely had been hampered since the game in Crawfordsville where he suffered, contralaterally, a strained MCL and a high ankle sprain . He missed the following two games, I believe, before seeing some action in the third.

Congratulations again to the Tigers and their fans for a great season.

oldtiger,

Thanks for the confirmation, I just knew he had to be hurt.  He is typically flying all over the field and very explosive (as you know) - I could tell he was not 100%.

Any word on Huffman?  I read that it was a concussion, I hope he is ok.  As we have all stated, that was a vicious hit!

Bring on November 6, 2010!   ;D

BB#16-

Spoke very briefly w/ Huffman following the game, more in passing, and he seemed coherent. His father appeared pretty PO'd after initially checking on Aaron,  which I feel is totally justified. It was reported/rumored, with no confirmation, both ears were swollen with bloody exudate from one following the "tackle."

The last 4 games, Witt's offensive package inside the 10 has been to empty the backfield and run a slight hesitation with Huffman, more or less, waiting for a seam to develop. While being successful, Huffman has been battling some injury issues and I think Whitewater's LB reputation precedes them.  The OC hung him out once too often and the price paid was severe. Prior to the injury Huffman was seeing what he was looking at and delivering the ball where it needed to be with authority.

Would have loved to have witnessed the 4th qtr w/ Aaron still controlling the reins.

Doesn't seem smart to go to the well too many times with that one, especially against a team like Whitewater.

Goal Line Stand

Ranks right up there with putting your stud QB on the hands team up front for on side kicks

Looking back ... what seemed like a good idea at the time and works ... not so good.

You know, I watched the Trine game and they ran that same play almost everytime they were within sniffing distance of the goal line. I didn't really understand it in that game either. The running backs were moving the ball with no problem - averaging 5-6 ypc. But all of the sudden, inside the 10, let the QB run a stretch play. I am a firm believer in sticking with what got you there. It was just weird, because everyone knew it was coming, and they still did it. If UWW had watched any tape from that Trine v. Witt game they would have seen that is a play they, almost exclusively, run around the goal line. Still, I am not a coach, and so maybe there is something to that play that works when others don't.

A fan of good football - wherever it may be found.
