Hope everything went well, Fripp.

Lil Giant - thank for asking.....not a big deal and I was awake the whole time.....pulled out 3 pieces, 2 cartilage and 1 bone.....a little therapy and I should be good to go....getting old

Wish you a short-term and (relatively) pain free, PT regimen - Fripp. This aging thing, and consequences of youthful exuberance, has its downside, eh?

Cave, thanks.  Agree on the youthful exuberance and aging.  They don't seem to go together.  I cannot imagine how the guys who play on Sundays feel in their 40's , 50's etc.

There's an awful lot of time between now and next fall.  Today, Huffman feels comfortable moving on to post-undergrad life.  In four weeks, he may be filling out 2010 fall enrollment paperwork in.  We shall see if this story changes between now and August.

WOW, THATS BIG!

However, what might be just as big is all the guys they listed as possible 5th year SR.  A number of other players on Offense including Metzger who was a STUD this past season in the playoffs!  Mat Guida was a very good player (ALL-NCAC) in 2007 and Freemon was a Caption on that Defense last season.  Talented group of 5th years with or without Huffman.

The tough time for any former player come around June or July.   When the wheels start spinning and you can smell the scent of two-a-days.  20 years later, it is still tough for me.  You may move on, but the desire to play competitively never leaves.

Couldn't agree with you more, bashbrother.  For us "oldsters" that is so true.  In addition to the pre-season time you mention, those feelings are even more instense during the early games of the season (Sept), especially being on the sideline at the games with great weather, game-day atmosphere.  Makes me want to get right out on the field and run, hit, etc.  :) and that old college spirit in doing that not only for yourself, but the alma mater and its tradition really hits me.  I will admit, however, that when the cold weather games occur in November, my thoughts revert to "man, I'm glad I don't have to endure this anymore - it was great back then, but I'm not sure I want to "turn back time" ;D.  For some of us, while we are still in great shape for our age, "to all of the above, the mind says 'yes', but the body really says 'no'" ::) :o ;D

My deepest condolences go out to the Josh Linthicum family, friends and the Wabash community. What a terrible loss.

Well said. 30 years for me. Amazing how you never lose the smell of early mornings in August. One of the many reasons why football is America's passion
