And?

You think Creighton's jumping to the nfl in an "unknown capacity"? I doubt it. If that guy wanted to be an assistant, he's certainly had his high-profile opportunities.

It's the day "after deposit due date."  Any skinny on recruits entering the LG fold?

BTW, interesting tidbit from local fishwrap in Dayton:

Denison and Kenyon may have not have lead the NCAC last football season, but here is something both schools can be proud of!

Cave2Bens,

70+ deposits for the LG's this year!!!!  A huge class for sure.  It should be a strong class talent wise too.  I didn't see it in your Dayton newspaper trail but I believe WR/Returner - Jermar Rayford (Dayton Julienne Chaminade) will be a Little Giant.

Thanks, #16.

I found quite a thread on another site with his name, along with quite a stable full of LBs and DBs.  Looking forward to many interesting Saturday "nights" of Bash football during the next five years in Botswana.  ;)

Only 58 days and a wake-up until an overnighter to Jo'burg.

Revisiting the talk about Wabash's athletics facilities upgrades....word on the street is that FieldTurf will be down on the Hollett in time for the 2010 season!

Just received confirmaton that Wooster will play the Little Giants on Field Turf Pro for the first home game at Hollet next fall.  Think of our receivers on that turf.  Plus the explosiveness of Belton.  And the kicking of Dannie behind on Natl TV in our house and how it will show.

Facilities upgrades = recruiting assistance = program advancement

Bottom line.   Top D3 and lower prospects from upper divisions (DII and DI) all want to feel that they are playing at a college program, not at a high school facility with more seats.  (The upgrades Wabash has done already (Like Allen) has helped get them where they are today.  Also Monon Bell,  National TV exposure, CC, overall history etc.)

One of the best examples on record - Look at what it did in Eugene with the upgrade at Autzen starting in 1988.

University of Oregon had a Football record of 91-109 - 4.  Between 1977-and 1994. (1989 was the first bowl appearance during this time (1 year after they started upgrades) and Brook's career ended with a Pac-10 championship in 1994 and a Rose Bowl Bid)

Their record from 1994 to present is 126 - 58.  (Bellotti gets a bunch of credit) - I believe they have gone to a bowl almost every year.

Onward and upward!   Bravo Wabash!

Agree ... but would also add "outstanding coaching" along with "administration support" to "facility upgrades"

Field Turf Pro is the top of the line!  21 of 32 NFL teams play on this surface!!!  Many high school and college fields choose to go with a lesser quality and lesser expensive option.

Kudos to the College for a great decision.

I cannot wait so watch the progress this Summer.

Wabco - right on with your comment about our receivers and Belton on this surface next season - scary!  How about the corner that has Chamblee when he runs a fly?  :)

Wabco -

Yes.   Definitely,  coaching is a critical part of every quality program's success and Wabash has had the luxury of having this recently.   Administration support is the essential underlying factor that many don't directly see or appreciate.  Wabash has had it.   Upgrades don't even make it to the concept stage without it.

Also, can't forget the tremendous alumni association in supporting athletics at Wabash in so many ways!

It's all good.

Recruiting news????

I have heard OWU has over 50 recruits coming in (way to go Holloway)!!!  Denison is in the 30's!!!  Someone posted Wabash has over 70!!! Things are looking up for the NCAC.

Bashbrother:
I agree with you that Field Turf is probably in the majority and is a great surface.  However, I will just add that AstroPlay, which many other colleges and high schools have is also a very nice surface.  The big plus for AstroPlay is that it is, indeed less expensive than the others and, in reality, is not an inferior product, IMO.  Obviously, the cost helps many of the small schools.  One of the challenges in regards to costs for some schools is that extra expenses are required because they have to renovate or construct new stadium structures along with putting the new surface as opposed to schools that just only have to put in the surface alone.  Anyway, thanks for the stats - very interesting.
