I bet any conversation about moving the Bell Game around on the schedule, if it came up at all, was a very short one.

Why should you go for it on 4th down?

Yes, because clearly the NCAC has the football scheduling thing all figured out. :)

I've gone on and on about how much sense I think this move makes, so I won't rehash that all here except to say that I'm very excited to see the conference do the right thing.  There wasn't a partnership with any other school that made as much sense for both league and joining institution.  Our league got a lot better today, and not just with respect to football.  DePauw will raise the level of play across the board in the NCAC.

I'm very much looking forward to having in-league contests with the school down south again.  We can all spin the last 12 years however we want...games against DePauw just haven't quite been the same since 1998.  The Bell Game is always the Bell Game for sure.  But there's more...no more basketball games during Thanksgiving break...no more midweek baseball games with the fifth starters...etc. etc.

It's a great day for DePauw, for Wabash, and for the entire NCAC.  Huzzah!

Great news for the NCAC! A good program will benefit all. :)

First of all, not having been around the program pre-1998, I look forward to experiencing the dynamic of having Wabash and Depauw in the same conference.

With all of the bashing of the NCAC on the Wooster Homecoming issue, they deserve some credit for doing the right thing with this situation.

With Earlham's exit, it left Wabash out on a limb by itself in Indiana.  (NCAC Members)  Well,  with this announcement, the NCAC now has the two best programs in the State of Indiana.

One other benefit I see for Depauw in this deal is that their students and fans may now be able to travel in greater numbers to support their teams.   I am sure Depauw has always traveled fairly well, but now, instead of going to Texas or Tennessee or Mississippi,  they will be able to reach most of their away games in a 5 or 6 hour car ride.

DPU changed the dynamic in the SCAC, and I imagine they will have a similar impact in the NCAC.  Congratulations to you guys on getting an excellent new conference member.

I guess they figured out that when they finally beat Trinity (TX) in football last year, there was nothing else left to be done in conference play.  ;)  Five consecutive SCAC all-sports trophies, including winning by their largest margin this year, mean they should do well in NCAC competition from day one.

While I wish the conference football participation started earlier, it will start with the "alpha" game being played where it should be ... in the friendly confines of Hollett with 12,000 (got the number right this time) fans and a national TV audience.

+K for Seinfeld. You called this last week. I guess I can assume you somehow work for or sub contract work through the NCAC, since you where privy to this info before hand.
Or,  you have no life and do the "mission impossible thing" in the NCAC offices.

Actually, after my show ended, I decided to work in espionage. As the conference presidents gathered and put together the proposal, I was the old lady serving them coffee.

Seriously, I don't work for the NCAC or any school for that matter, I just post from mom's basement (or my office more accurately). I've just been around the conference and Wooster for such a long time that I see and hear things, that's all.
