:o Wake up people! We are less than 2 months away from the sound of pads cracking off one another and we haven't had a new post in 2 days? ???

Let's get it on! 8-)

Many of the boards are so quiet. I posted the OAC schedule for the 1st games " early comments", so far only one response. With camps only 6-7 weeks away, you think it would pick up! :o

Baldwin Wallace vs Wooster- What does everyone think?

short

It's July finially and still not much to talk about? Question for anyone, how did recruiting go for each school.  I heard Wabash is bringing in 73 guys with more than a few studs but what about Geny, Witt, COW, OWU, Denison, Depuaw (cuz it will matter if a few years), Kenyon, OC, HC? Any word?

Wooster, but Wooster will have some growing pains early in the season with a new oline and qb. I think this game will be a 24-17 type game. Turnovers and special teams will play a big part in who wins.

I think Woosters lack of depth will play a big role in this one, but this will be a good game. Woo pretty much replaces its whole line this year....they will need to grow up fast.

Wabash vs. Wooster is first game (and first game on new turf) for Wabash.  Similar to Woo, Wabash will have a new QB art the helkm along with a new O line (although the "new" O line is not really new to varsity playtime ... only starting time).  It will be who matures first.  But I like Wabash chances under the Beltonor Miracle or whomever era.  Receivers who catch anything in their zip codes helps.  D should be able to fill what we always worry are unfillable holes left for graduation.  I like ER preparation and focus and believe the overall quality and expoerience of the Wabash athletes will win out after some initial sputtering.  (We always seem to inordinately sputter in the first game ... something perhaps ER will eradicate.)  I look for a very aggressive D against a Woo new QB and O line.  It should be a very enjoyable atmosphere on September 11 with the improvements to field and scoreboard.  Long awaited and much appreciated.

Wooster's O-Line will be alright- there was a lot of depth there last year, and the talent is there for this group to be very good... sure they'll be green, but they will be well-coached and prepped for this game. The key to the game (offensively, for Woo) will be if Wooster can find a QB that fits into the offensive scheme they've got, and how well he makes the reads. Its a pretty tough offense for a new QB to step into, with a lot of qb options both in the passing and running games.

What is Wabash returning? I know they're bringing back almost all of their WRs, but that's about all I know... new OL and QB for sure - what else?

Same QB you saw last year.

;D  18-31 - 283  4TD  No INT  Was a great start for the Rhynie subbing for Matt and Josh.

As no roster or recruiting lists have been officially posted out of Crawfordsville, and attrition being "whatever,"my uninformed observation is strictly conjecture.  'Bash lost a ton (literally and figuratively speaking) to graduation (OL, strong performers at DE, LB, and S, and their two-time MVP QB).  Coupled with the untimely death of an underclassman, there are holes to fill but the cupboard isn't bare.

On the positive side, two QBs stepped into big games as starters during Hudson's injury against the "other W's" and performed admirably, and OL backups received some substantial game experience.  WRs and RBs are intact.  The defensive side, particularly if a couple of injured players return to the fold and there were no unforeseen off-season losses, is more than capable.  The recruiting list is rumored to be long and strong - have personally seen one of them play a couple of games live, and he was impressive on both sides of the ball.

Believe it boils down to how quickly the O-line gels, overcomes initial jitters, and minimizes motion penalties that seem to plague the LGs in early season.  Coming into year 3 of ER's program, it should be an exciting year.  :)

Any insight on the Wooster recruiting class? I heard that Shawn Smith will return this year after opting out to deal with personal issues last year. That kid could start on either side of the ball.... very quick and great footwork. How many QBs did they bring in? I read that Case Western brought in 9, must be nice....

Nothing official from CWRU either.  The nine refered to are just nine who were announced in local papers.

Maybe I missed something, but I thought the discussion was about B-W and Wooster!  ???  Wooster has to get by B-W if that happens before they play Wabash.
