I don't know.  Perfectly healthy.  Need 1 team receivers in under GOOD game conditions for a newbe QB and a new Oline  Not like putting a franchise QB on a hands team.  Did not happen during extended play after the learning experience for line and QB were long over and still in.  No second guess here.  Just an unfortunate event.  Perhaps we should roll the others in styrofoam and leave in their bedroom lest they turn an ankle walking to the dressing room.  Lets go Wabash.

Wally,

Agree 125% with Wabco - guys need reps before it's "game on."  Not to mention, Wooster already has a game under their belt.  Hopefully Kody will be back sooner than later.  Fortunately, WR is a position we have some depth and this could be the break Brady Young was looking for - he's probably good enough to start at any other NCAC school but playing behind Kody and Wes...

Looking forward to Saturday for sure!

Random:

- reminder...BB16 prediction - Frosh LB Nate Scola (Apache Junction H.S. AZ) - D newcomer of the Year

- Can't wait to see the scoreboard - the finished product!

Wabash Always Fights!!!

Drove down to Greencastle from Chicago on Saturday morning.  Had a few minutes to burn and I usually bypass the lights in C'Ville by driving past Wabash (although the number of stop signs kills that logic).  Stopped by the stadium to see the new turf.  Looks great.  I am not a fan of this surface being old school and playing on the old stuff so many times.  I know this is different.  I get it.  The scoreboard seems a bit underwhelming.  What am I missing ?  I thought it looked similar to the old one, but can't say as I remember the old one either.  Scrimmage had not started.  The Wabash kids were taking individual pictures.  Good luck this year and see you in November.....or late Oct when the shots start being fired.

I think Brent's spoiled us enough to warrant a little ribbing as far as this year's preview is concerned. I, too, am hopelessly clicking that phantom link...

Fripp,

There are 2 pieces yet to go on to the scoreboard from what I have heard - I believe that both are about 3' tall.  So, one will go on to the top, 1 will go on to the bottom.  Additionally, they are not done with the base that will include brick/stone and naming plaques.  I believe this version will be nearly twice the size of the old one.

BashDad - the phantom link is hilarious.  I have done the same thing for a week or so.  Hahaha.

QuoteAs #3 and I were talking pretty much throughout the entire game tonight.  The one thing that became very clear.  Boise State believed that they could win.  They believe they can and will win every game.   Over the past 5 or 6 years, what has made Boise State into the program they are today is a total acceptance of their underdog status and players, coaches and fans that were crazy enough to believe.  For the most part, you have one, two and three star players out of high school beating four and five star blue chipper filled teams consistently.  How does this happen?   Attitude and belief that they can win.

Until someone, whether it is the coaching staff or other, gets these kids believing they can win, the struggles will continue.

Very true. Boise is now getting the players to mach up with the Va Tech's of the world...but to go into that environment and win---after getting a big lead and losing it---is a statement that they indeed believe they can win---against anybody. As bashbrother suggests...attitude and belief are powerul things...especially as programs try to build something...

16, wabco-

Totally understand your sides on the matter.  I've been going back and forth about it since Saturday and I've seen logic in everything from not having a scrimmage before game 1 at all to having a full speed, full contact scrimmage with all the 1s before the season starts and pretty much everything inbetween.  I'm just not sure what the right answer is or if there even is a right answer.  If the concern is that Wabash is playing week 2 against a team that played week 1 and they need the "game" experience to minimize the advantage, maybe the solution is to start playing games in week 1 and play the scrimmage a little more conservatively?

I dunno. That stuff can happen, and often does, in practice. I'm not sure there's a satisfying answer here. You play football, you risk injury. C'est la vie.

Now, putting your all-american quarterback on the hands team, well... that's a little different.

Yes.   I also think that this is why the Monon Bell series is virtually tied over 100 + year.   Both teams believe that they have a chance no matter what.  Thus, it comes down to usually who wants it more that particular year.

BB#16...Thanks for the great report on the scrimmage...really nice to be able to read something like that having wanted to be there so badly...

Greenville played Augustana...final was 28-7...but it was surprising...Greenville has some great atheletes...lots of speed...very hard hitting..as they call it in Greenville..."Experts in Collision"... they need to get the offfense moving...Augustana...I had really expected more from as they kept the starters till very late in the forth...

On the way home I caught the Milikin/Illinois College...Milikin looks like a different team than when Wabash had the series with them...Huge line...

Ran into "Old Nuthin" from the boards here by accident...had a great time meeting he and his lovely wife...

Hoping Kody gets back soon...

From what was discussed inthe papers as well as here, Cooch still hasn't decided on a starter at QB.  Also, the injury to Kody could be a real blow.  I plan on being at 'Bash on Saturday.  Who all is going?

Just read the article from The Paper...I noted that it points out that Wabash won 16-7 on Saturday.  Wabash's record is still 0-0 and they might be down a big time senior WR.  Not sure Wabash "won" much of anything on Saturday.  I'm trying really hard not to Monday morning quarterback this, but how important are those scrimmage reps for a senior who has started every game for the last two years?  Are they worth the risk?  Not criticizing...just wondering out loud here.

1st off, thanks to BB#16 for the report on the scrimmage. Sounds like the Bash played pretty well on D and both teams got the work they needed.

Wally, I hear you on the issue here. As you know, Wheaton sat Rocky Gingg for this reason. On the other side of that I suppose you could argue the LG's are trying to break in a new QB and you really have to have good people working with him to evaluate who is going to be the guy. You see this in the NFL preseason all the time. Teams play their #1 OLine longer than usual during an open QB contest. It's a tough call and this is obviously the downside. If you had a returning QB there is no way you have Lemond and co. out there more than a series or two if that.

I hope he heals qucikly and get's back out there for Wabash. Good luck to the Little Giants would love to see both these teams in the postseason again.

I had a chance to see the COW-BW game last week and left at the half. In simple terms both Woo and BW were awful. You might not want to waste too many first string players for very long on Saturday. My prediction, Wabash wins by as many as they want to.

Would have to agree.  Injuries happen every year.  You can only hope they won't have to big of an effect.  You hope you have recruited well enough to have to next guy to step up, and be accounted for.

Never agreed with putting any QB on the hands team.  When I saw Jake in 02', thought it was crazy.  Still feel it is crazy.  If you don't have enough receivers, RB's or DB's to make up a very good hands team, then you should check your recruiting.
