Ditto here, Bash Dad #84!!  Hate to see guys get hurt, but especially seniors where they might not ever have the 'chance' again...
Been rooting for Dear Old Wabash since 1976...

QuoteThanks for the kind words, but not necessary. Wes's Mom and I are still trying to get our head around the fact that this will be the first time in 13 years we won't be watching him play football. His collegiate carreer was supposed to be over this year, but not after only one half of the first game!

That being said, we have grown very close to some of his teammates and watched them mature over the last few years. We are proud of many of their accomplishments and look forward to watching them succeed this year.

Wes is a strong and resillient young man. I feel worse for him than he does for himself. He will be fine.

Very sorry to hear this...your son is an excellent player and while I have never met him I have no doubt an equally fine young man...and I can only imagine how tough it is for the family as well...thoughts and prayers that everything works out...which I have no doubt it will.

Thanks wally for the dose of reality.......Just when I thought the Bishop program couldn't get worse.....it does. But, with this class of "Best Freshman", it won't be long...3 or 4 seasons until the Red & Black will be back....right?

I plan on hitting Delaware Friday night, late....
If any Men of Wabash are in the tailgate area for the game ....I'll say hello.

Been a follower of the bishop program for awhile now...would like to see a big bishop win this saturday at selby...will arrive early friday afternoon for game...we will welcome back the LG's...will Wabash bring good crowd to Selby on sat, looking for good crowd in bishop opener at home. If OWU falls behind early what is the expected reaction from the fans toward Coach H...Something needs to change in Delaware...Will it EVER?

NCAC4Life

The Bishops are extremely young and obviously based on the Wabash folks comments, have no chance this weekend. Here's hoping they still show up and play the game. It does sound futile listening to the Wabash faithful. I would hate spending good money to get in and not having anyone there to play against you. I guess we true OWU fans can always hold out hope that the mighty Wabash Little Giants might have a Virginia Tech moment and play down to the level of the OWU Bishop Babies.

Having watched OWU play this year....I am anxious to see who shows up this weekend. And if any of you OWU supporters are at the game...stop by our OWU tailgate in the Selby parking lot and say hi. Just ask for Chuck.

First of all, it is great to see so many Bishops posters.  Support and excitement in the program could generate change over time.

In reality, this weekend will not be the time.   I have been a very outspoken fan of the Bishops turning their program around.  I hope your team can give the Little Giants a game.... to get better we need it.

The first two contests of the season just have not established a ton of confidence in many.  Not necessary losing 52-0 to what I consider to be a Top 5 D3 program, but the 21-6 to Denison is the one that crossed me up a bit.

But this is when this Bishops team needs a ton of support from the students and community.  Get out to Selby on Saturday.

Why should you go for it on 4th down?

im getting real excited for this game this weekend...its been two years since we have played Wabash...I plan on tailgating for the game on saturday or at least attending somebodies. We need to support our bishops. Lets be loud guys and get behind this team...many times i think they doubt themselves. NCAC4Life where u traveling in from? Bishops need a big win...maybe we will catch Wabash looking past us. Bad things have to come to end sooner or later...Maybe the offense will change this week at practice  ;D  :o  :-X  :-\

If your son never plays another down in #84 at Wabash, I want to take this opportunity to thank you for sharing him with Wabash College.   Greatness is the only way to describe him in the open field.   It has been awhile since I have seen what I saw on Saturday on his 70+ yard touchdown.   It was as if, the defense was frozen and #84 was destined to reach the new endzone a Hollett first.

In that play he showed his speed and desire to win.  Later on in the half, he showed his commitment and love of the game and Wabash football on punt team.   As most have seen, that hit was one that will not be forgotten anytime soon.  The fact that the hit was delivered by a wide receiver has even more meaning to me.

Man among boys that #84.

Greatness.

NCAC-er 4 life and other OWUers

Please understand that (while I speak for myself ... I think this is the universally held view):  1) Wabash is a proud college with a proud and accomplished football team and we do not hide that fact. 2) Wabash has the upmost respect for OWU and its student athletes and wishes every positive thing toward OWU (except - of course - beating a Wabash team), 3) OWU footballers play with intensity and with their own pride, well earned.  We believe Wabash will prevail Saturday, we do not want anything bad to happen to either team or its players (we know this from personal experience), we will come with fun and openness to OWU in our interactions (meet us at our tailgates),  and it should be an enjoyable day. ... Finally, after losing to Wabash ... please win the rest of your games.

The league is better when OWU is a good team.  I want OWU to be a good team.  Please don't mistake my earlier remarks as picking on the Bishops, I'm just stating what is.  When I say that OWU is offensively challenged, it's not a high and mighty, looking down the nose kind of proclamation...it's in the numbers.  Go to the stats archive and look it up.  OWU is making a habit of being at or near the bottom of the league in points scored and total offense and it's tough to beat good teams when that is the case.

Dealing with major injuries is nothing new for our program.  In my tenure I saw a number of devastating injuries, including one myself that threatened my senior year.  Wes is a strong resilient man who is entirely capable of taking what some might see as a negative and turning it into a positive.  I fully expect him to become an even better leader than he already is and keep this team focused on the long arduous road ahead.  There are plenty of alumni that he played with that he can talk to about staying positive in the face of such adversity.  I wish him a speedy and full recovery.

On another note, I am very excited to see how this team matures throughout the season.  I can't wait to come out and catch a game this season (flying from AZ.)

If you have read the release, I'm the comic relief on the broadcast for Wabash. (I have business in Indiana today and tomorrow and so...why NOT go to the OWU game and Brent let me add my color commentary for old times sake.)

I'll be at the tailgate until I need to go upstairs for the 12:45 broadcast.
