So...enough of the crap...let's see some NCAC football...some great hits..nobody gets hurt...and may the best team win. See you guys at Selby...GO BISHOPS

I'll ask the question that I am sure has crossed the minds of most Little Giant Fans this year.

"Isn't field turf supposed to reduce the number of knee injuries?"  I'm just sayin.

Was there anyone at the game on Saturday that watched Wes on the re-kick after the penalty?  Did he get hit?

Yes, he got rolled up good on the hit.  It didn't look good to me when he came off the field.  I remember thinking that, "wow, we could now be out both our top receivers."  I hate being right like that...
Been rooting for Dear Old Wabash since 1976...

Appreciative of the Shelbourne Knee Clinic's sponsorship of Hometown Sports, but hopeful that the LGs provide no more inadvertent business this season  ::)

Since broadband width isn't capable of video feed here in Botswana, looking forward to Brent and Smed's radiocast tomorrow night.  WAF!

bashbro...watched the play several times last night on the dvr. On the play, Wes had beaten his men upfield (again) and one of the Wooster players got him by the collar from behind and drug him to the ground. Given what had just transpired, my guess is that there was an emphasis to make sure Wes be taken out of the play...not an intent to injure, but they were definitely going to get him to the ground no matter what (the "block" happened 10 yards behind the ball).

NCAC4Life where u traveling in from? Bishops need a big win...maybe we will catch Wabash looking past us. Bad things have to come to end sooner or later...Maybe the offense will change this week at practice  ;D  :o  :-X  :-\

Bishopowu.....I am traveling in from California. I get in late tonight after stopping over in South Carolina to visit some sick friends.
You and aueagle need to stop by our tailgate and introduce yourself. Look for the large Bishop flags. Watching the game and seeing the stadium on live video is NOTHING like seeing the place in person. I will be in front of the press box about fifteen rows up during the game with a LARGE contingent of OWU fans. I would love to chat!

Time to get my game face on-I have looked at some stats and find that rarely has the tight end caught more than 1 ball.  You would have to back to Ryan Short to find impressive numbers out of the position. With what appears to be inexperience (3 freshmen in the 2 deep at WR) IMO Bash should try to utilize 2 talented-and experienced-tight ends; Kenney and Holt more. I don't mean to criticize the freshmen, particularly James Kraus who had an outstanding debut, but a passing game to the TE would have the same effect as a ground game in opening things up for the WRs
I have also though about an option offense, with Belton's running talent. His best plays were on draws and what looked like "Wildcat" option runs, but it would be interesting to see how he could exploit the classic triple option. The running backs might benefit from pitchbacks giving them the outside, rather than bouncing out from a straight ahead run which is slow developing.

Wally your assesment of this situation is way out if line. I'm sure Wooster had a bounty out for who could take #84 out if the game. Your view point makes me sick. It is unfortunate that the young man was injured and probably ended his season but, no one intentionally injures a player. (Even if its 10 yard behind the play)I'm glad all Wabash grad's are not mental midgets like yourself.

NCAC-er 4 life and other OWUers

Please understand that (while I speak for myself ... I think this is the universally held view):  1) Wabash is a proud college with a proud and accomplished football team and we do not hide that fact. 2) Wabash has the upmost respect for OWU and its student athletes and wishes every positive thing toward OWU (except - of course - beating a Wabash team), 3) OWU footballers play with intensity and with their own pride, well earned.  We believe Wabash will prevail Saturday, we do not want anything bad to happen to either team or its players (we know this from personal experience), we will come with fun and openness to OWU in our interactions (meet us at our tailgates),  and it should be an enjoyable day. ... Finally, after losing to Wabash ... please win the rest of your games.

Well said.  I've said it many times, but Wabash joining the NCAC was the best thing that has happened in the history of the conference.  My father, also an OWU alum, has always had the highest praise for Wabash, both from an academic and athletic standpoint.

I'm excited about what is transpiring with the OWU football program right now and firmly believe all of the ingredients are in place for the program to return to the upper ranks of the conference.  The X-factors are ultimately the effort of each player in practice and the weight room, the amount of film each watches, and whether they fully subscribe to the idea of "One Heartbeat."  I see great days ahead.

Best of luck to both teams tomorrow on what I hope is a perfect day at Selby.  Safe travels to the visitors and their fans.

Old Scot,
I am sure that Wally said there was no intent to injure. No one thought that the lad from Wooster intentionally hurt anyone. Unfortunately, it happened. Anyway, that was last week and this week Wabash is going to roll into Delaware like a run away freight train. Everyone knows that a team shows it's most improvement between game one and game two. Look out Bishops, Wabash Always Fights! 8-)

No one accused the Scots of a bounty! It wasn't intent to injure. It wasn't a clean play but a play that does happen and this time it resulted in injury. There is a reason they banned the horse-collar tackle.

And if one of THEM makes a big hit on one of YOURS, then of course you will want to get back at them.

Wooster also lost a receiver for the season with a knee injury from the Wabash game. And didn't Wabash also lose another receiver on this same field during the scrimmage? Coincidence? Maybe, although I heard a Wooster person mention that the field seemed "different" than at least Wooster's field is. I guess time will tell.
