Who did we lose today?  Well, starting QB Chase Belton apparently seperated his left shoulder, if I heard the trainer right.  James Pannell injured his right ankle.  Obviously, neither rentered the game after their injuries in the third quarter...

Bishop,

I've met aueagle. He was at the Wabash game. He has passion, and opinions.

As an outsider, I'm not in the Kool Aid line, but I agree with most of the board. The Bishops should be doing much better. Something is wrong in Delaware.

Smed,

I don't disagree.  The question is how to get OWU back on top.  My position is that the current leadership, from the AD to the Head Coach to the coaching staff, is the group that will do it.  That's all.

While under Ingles the rest of OWU's programs are competing well (winning the All-Sports titles), perhaps his closeness and friendship to Hollway is coloring his view of the football situation. I don't think a new direction for OWU football in any way affects the other sports in Delaware. In fact, it could help them grow even stronger.

The concern has to be the turnover in players. This Bishops class is good, but they are taking a beating early on. If they can stay for four years, then you may have something.

If you look at the facts,

Bishops have:

1.  Luxury of being in one of the top football recruiting areas in the country

2.  Great facilities that are well above average

3.  Location near major metro area

4.  Great academics

5.  Strong overall athletic program

So with all of that, it is logical for an outsider or alumnus that cares about the program to consider strongly that the problem in building and maintaining the program at strong level is either:  coaching or administration.

There may be other variables in play here, but what what else could it be?

So are we ready to call BS on Denison or are we impressed with CWRU? My own impression is a little of both. I think CWRU is a solid team that has a shot at running a pretty weak the table if they can play well against Gheny next week (not knocking the schedule too much, if you beat everyone you play that is an accomplishment no matter who you are). But I see no reason why Denison can't win four maybe even five more with an upset.

Thoughts?

I think the Gheny game next week will tell us what we need to know about this Case team.  I watched the game tonight and was impressed with them.

Gheny played a great game today.  They will need another solid game to have a chance to get a win against Case.

PS:  This Orgeon/ASU game will never end.

maripp,

The game was perhaps even more one-sided that the score indicates, if you can believe it.

Case outgained Denison 525 to 163, and had 26 first downs to DU's 7.  If it weren't for the fact that CWRU turned the ball over late in the game on their own 9 yard line, it would likely have been a shutout.

In the first half, DU had only TWO first downs and something like 50 total yards; if it weren't for the fact that Case started putting in their second and third teams in the second half, it could have been worse.
