I have a feeling ONU will be sitting pretty after this week.

Besides, Seventies, couldn't you make that case every week with a handful of teams? I mean, you don't honestly think Trine should be ahead of both of them, do you?

seventiesraider,

Yes, it's right.

No, because I think ONU has an honest chance to beat Mount Union, Wittenberg, not hardly

BTW, your kidding about Trine, I hope

That's what I'm saying; I think ONU wins this week and makes your little squabble irrelevant.

But you're wrong in thinking Witt wouldn't give Mount a game. It's practically the same team that stood toe to toe with UWW through three and a half quarters (with a backup QB, no less).

And of course I'm joking about Trine, though using scores to validate positioning in the polls would put them about a touchdown better than ONU.

Of course based on games played, I'd have to put St John Fischer in the top three and would have a hard time justifying Mount in the top five. But, still think last Saturday's performance should have dropped Witt below 10.

Allegheny, at home with a a 4-year starting qb and a boatload of other returning players from last year's eight win team was poised to play a competitive game with Wittenberg.  It was the biggest game Allegheny has played in a long time and they were ready for it.  Let's give the Gators a little bit of credit for the game they played on Saturday.

So is giving a team that has beat nothing but bottom feeders a top ten spot. Olivet and OWU are among the 25 worst teams in DIII. We'll see who's still playing in the second week of the playoff

Outside of the top 3 or 4 teams, maybe 5.  We could all build arguments for many teams.   Instead, we take the rankings with a grain of salt with the benefit of knowing that in DIII, we have a tourney that will shake things out.

Both good teams this year.  1 or 2 spots in the rankings, what does it really mean at this point.  Play Ball.

To be accurate, Wittenberg's spot in the top 10 was given to them before they played Olivet and OWU and not as a result of having played those teams.

This whole thread is lazy, stupid logic. It's nonsense. Who has Fischer played, but three "bottom feeders?" And they should be in the top THREE? Based on what? Your enthusiasm? Also, for that matter, who has Mount or Wesley or St. Thomas played? What about MHB's 12 point win over McMurray (McMurray!)? Witt should need no excuse for beating a solid, experienced, undefeated team on the road.

In before Ralph Turner comes in and sets things straight.

Big, big difference between McMurry (in the ASC and losers 43-31 to UMHB) and McMurray.

Also,

I didn't realize John Fischer played football! (Wabash inside joke...)
St. John Fisher has won three road games. Hobart is always a good test and Rochester only lost to CWRU by four.

Also, also:

OWU and Olivet are no where CLOSE to being in the Bottom 25. Not as long as there are bottom feeders in the ECFC, NATHC and NEFC.

To take it a step further, there is no such school in Division III football called McMurray.

I think you mean MacMurray :)
