And Case edges Gheny in OT 24-23.
Long shall we sing thy praises, Old Wabash

BashBacker#16

By looking at the box score, looks like Gheny had their extra point blocked in OT to lose by 1!  It would have gone to a 2nd OT.  That would have been a nice win for the conference.

1:06 to go.  Oberlin has the ball 56 yards away from the goal line.  Here we go.

Witt gets a fumble from Oberlin's QB.  The Tigers will escape from Savage Field 27-21 winners.

?!?

Did Fincham leave his starters on the bus?

Very puzzled with this Witt/Oberlin score...looking at the stats...some comments:

- even first downs, both teams 23 each
- Witt had 352 yards passing including a 91 yard reception to McKee
- Witt only averaged 3.9 yards per rush
- all of Witt's big guns looked to have played...especially on D - Vallery, McKinley, Hurtt, Maxwell, Kattoua, etc. (Wabashcpa - I thought the same thing or they had a bunch of injuries)
- Oberlin passed for 224 yards, going averaging over 6.1 yards/attempt and completing 22 for 37

Very interesting.  And to think that Oberlin scored with 5 minutes to play in the 4th pulling within a TD...wow.   ???  Someone explain this stuff.  Hmmmmmm.

How about this IU / Michigan game...........?  Crazy.

I guess that means we should be glad that we get Oberlin at home.

Chicago....30
OWU..........6

It was 30-0 at half

Bishops are 0-5 for the year....

I wonder if I called the OWU football office if the
conversation would go like this:

Hello?
Is there anybody in there?
Just nod if you can hear me.
Is there anyone at home?
Come on, now,
I hear you're feeling down.
Well I can ease your pain
Get you on your feet again.
Relax.
I'll need some information first.
Just the basic facts
Can you show me where it hurts?

Outstanding effort by the Yeoman this afternoon. They were in the game all day long. I thought the Tiger o-line would wear out a much lighter Oberlin d-line, but they stayed in it all day. Light rain/drizzle throughout the game, but both teams held onto the ball. Wittenberg is lucky to get out of there with a win today.

Eagle, it would definitely seem that the decision makers at OWU are "Comfortably Numb".  Chicago is improved, but this cannot be acceptable, nor tolerated any longer.  Too much of a proud tradition for this nonsense.

Wooster looks to be in the mix this year and Witt-Wabash will be big.  Wabash, where do you keep finding these guys?  Who is your receiver's coach/recruiter?  And can Belton be the best quarterback in the conference already?
Honestly can't see OWU going the season without a change.  Hiram is at least putting a decent amount of points on the scoreboard each week.  Hiram will beat OWU is my prediction.  A ways to go til then, however.

We apparently have an 'in' up in North Judson. Haven't seen the Kraus lad play yet, but I can't imagine the Blue Jays have produced any finer players in the last decade than him and CJ Gum.

Thanks wabashcpa...For being on the wavelenght...
It could get worse....
CMU...Gheny...Kenyon...Oberlin....Hiram...
Really tough to find a win in there right now....

That's what I'm saying; I think ONU wins this week and makes your little squabble irrelevant.

But you're wrong in thinking Witt wouldn't give Mount a game. It's practically the same team that stood toe to toe with UWW through three and a half quarters (with a backup QB, no less).

And of course I'm joking about Trine, though using scores to validate positioning in the polls would put them about a touchdown better than ONU.

Witt didn't even give Oberlin a game
Same as it ever was...same as it ever was...same as it ever was...

North Judson's usually a pretty solid team. They used to run into Bremen, Rochester and Jimtown during the sectional or regional. Now they go more south and west. But in the past they had good teams up there.

I covered a basketball tourney up there about 10 years ago. You don't go to North Judson unless you WANT to go to North Judson. It's rather much BFE land...

The close win at Allegheny didn't alarm me much.   As many have stated, Allegheny is loaded with skilled seniors and always plays tough at home.

Witt's result this week against Oberlin, in my mind, signals something may not be right in Springfield.   Haven't studied the box closely yet, but to put this in a little perspective:

Witt's defense from last year (Almost all returned) gave up 21 or more points to one team all of last year including the playoff run.   (UWW 31)

This year, they have given up 21 points in consecutive weeks to Gheny and Oberlin.

Witt gave up an average of only 8.8 points a game in 13 games last year.

Why should you go for it on 4th down?

Belton threw for 400 yards today? That's it! Sorry Scots, will be in Springfield on Nov. 6th when Wabash comes.  Will be an epic battle of the two best teams in the NCAC.  Wooster should handle Kenyon, but the Witt game experience is  the best, with the stadium absolutly beautiful.  And the Mrs. has given permission.
