Oberlin's play against the Tigers was impressive.

Case has a 25+ year win streak going against Oberlin, but given how Oberlin played against WU, this could be the toughest CWRU v. Oberlin match-up in years.  Case had better bring its "A" game.

I have sat back and watched long enough.  What a disaster this season has become in Delaware.  OWU is too proud of an institution both academically and athletically to continue to allow such inept performances.  I think the current regime would agree that a change needs to be made.  At least that is the former coach that I knew but that was years ago.  It has been painful to watch such mediocrity and now, I can't even use that word to describe the OWU program.  I am sure the players are working hard every day to get better and the staff is coaching them up but it might be time to face the music.  Whatever is being done there is not working.  And don't get me started on all the frosh in starting positions year in and year out.  I think you start there and can see where a lot of the problems start.  An 18 yr old kid, not completely mature yet playing against 21 sometimes 22 yr old mature men.  I could go on but just had to chime in.  It will be an interesting watch to see if changes are made in the future.

OWU -  tough...very tough

Bash -  1st quarter had me looking at shorting the stock,  Then like the grinch on top of the mountain with the sleigh ready to fall off the cliff, something happened.

Call it WAF or ER tearing up some serious butt on the sideline, "Are you truly going to lose to Kenyon?"  Wabash then scored 28 points in 5 minutes......  Belton found it and the offense started to roll.  The Defense became "Hard Hats" and didn't allow Kenyon to really do anything for the rest of this game.

We will see next week, but I believe that this team became a team yesterday.

WAF!

It sure does!  Wow, that has to be some kind of record.  That beats even the Monon Bell attendance record, doesn't it?

Yup. By a lot. I think the bell game reached close to 13,000 in 2006 or 2008.

IF BOTH WABASH AND DEPAUW CONTINUE AS THEY ARE, I WOULD NOT BE SUPPRISED TO SEE THE STANDS OVERFLOWING.  I SURE HOPE WABASH TAKES NOTE OF EARLY TICKET SALES AT BOTH ENDS AND IF THEY ARE STRONG ENOUGH TO JUSTIFY ... GET MORE EXTRA SEATS IN THAN THE NORMAL ORDER OF EXTRA SEATING WHICH WABASH HAS ORDERED THE LAST COUPLE OF TIMES.  HATE TO SEE DEPAUW-ESK LIMITATIONS ... UNLESS, OF COURSE, THEY AFFECT THE DANNIES. (COULN'T RESIST THAT).

I am also hoping beer pong is not outlawed this year.   ;)

Im new here and Im just curious on your guys opinion.

I stumbled on this video on youtube of this cornerback from Hiram College. I have to say he looks pretty dang good. I know its Hiram, but he looks like he can play. He's from Glenville (Cleveland OH). That says enough right? Maybe All American?

2.7 seconds. An average football player may need more time to score; a great one finds a way. I've seen greatness happen.

I love how one of the first video highlights on the reel is him hitting a receiver out of bounds and drawing a personal foul penalty.  Nice.

He deleted his post.

It's been a while since that happened. I was beginning to wonder if the players were just too busy tweeting to bother.  ;D

Bro I think Witt ought to seriously recruit this guy. If I'm not mistaken, ol' Brad McKinley graduates this year and Witt needs to pick up the slack on late hits out of bounds.

Something needs to change in Delaware...I agree with all the other OWU posters. 4-5 blocked punts vs. Wabash leads to a win for Wabash...Saturday vs. Chicago 3 more blocked punts, 2 were returned for touchdowns and one set up a short TD run. It seems the same exact players are on the Punt team (how about we take them off) Looking at the stats and watching the game on the net Chicago was not impressive at all. Does Ingles watch these games? I really feel that this team has talent on it, but the coaching needs to go. This team would do well with change but will they ever get it? The games are not even competitive. I feel for these young men on this squad.

Some thoughts on week 5...

- Wabash keeps trending in the right direction.  The defense contiues to build, the special teams continue to be fantastic, and the offense keeps taking baby steps.  Thought I'd see Belton throw more and run less this week, which is exactly what happened.  That gave some RBs some extra chances to step up, and unfortunately it just isn't happening.  This week Wabash added Rowe to the rotating chain of Yoder/Mambourg/Hunt...somebody needs to step up and win this job.  Putting the ball on the turf doesn't help.  Maybe Smothers can get some work next week?  I'm not sure what the answer is at RB.   In any case, as a whole, Wabash is moving in a positive direction and I like where they're going as we get into October.

- Tough loss for Allegheny.  CWRU will celebrate this as a major accomplishment, but the reality is that this game set up perfectly for the Spartans.  They were getting the Gators seven days after a gut-punch loss to Wittenberg, at home, in a game that really was a lot bigger for CWRU than it was for Allegheny.  The week after effect is real and timing matters during the course of a football season.  Good win for CWRU (can't remember the last time CWRU had a regular season win against an opponent of Allegheny's caliber), but I can't help but wonder what happens on any other week of the season.

- Speaking of timing mattering...Wittenberg has a history of letdown weeks after a big game and it looks like that happened this past week.  But it isn't fair to simply say Witt didn't show up.  Oberlin almost always has a few kids on offense that can make plays and get the Yeomen on the scoreboard and they never ever stop competing against the W's (unfortunately, I've seen some other teams lay down when things get lopsided against the W's).  Oberlin has pressed some really good teams over the years and are definitely capable of putting together a 4-quarter challenge to anybody in the league.  How is it that almost every time Witt plays a bad game or loses, they get Hiram the next week?  Seems like this happens a lot.

- I'm not going to pile on OWU here, but anybody who is still defending what's going on there is oblivious.  The team needs a culture change.  Kicking off at 7:00 p.m. doesn't count.  The coach was quoted as saying that the team just "needs something good to happen".  First, good teams don't sit around and wait for something positive to happen...they make it happen.  Second, if it isn't blatantly obvious what "needs to happen", it never will be.
