As a OWU football fan I don't understand at all how the punt team can have this many problems...There have been many times where it was 4th and 1 or 4th and 2 and OWU is punting it when they know they have punting problems. Now i understand that there are times when you have 4th and a few that you got to punt it, but they also don't have really any good punts. They are also shanked alot too. Here is a good question while doesnt OWU have one of their actual kickers punt? There are 2 kickers on their roster...Most times these kids used to play soccer so shouldnt they be able to punt.

Not a bad thought - goalies are used to snagging errant shots, but usually aren't pressured when giving the ball a root up the pitch.  Midfielders, defenders, and strikers - mmm, probably not.  Don't want a punter to get accustomed to kicking a rolling ball (See recruiting long snapper).

Personally, I'd snag your rugby club's flyhalf or fullback (substituting a bit more academic aid as a trade-off for third half, beer rations).   Efficient play at either position requires skills in kicking for strategic placement, either offensively or in defense and best, it's nearly always under pressure (no blocking - ball is moving on-sides line).  8-)

In a pinch, which OWU may be - roadtrip and kidnap a Tressel scout-teamer, promising a pic with the mascot and visions of Selby grandeur.  ;)

My Dad use to double-date with Don Shula in high school....
Shula still has ties with the Dolphins.....
Shula gets fired asst. coach to come to Delaware.....
Said coach will only take over specialty team if he gets the
head job in 2011....
Former Miami asst. takes over OWU team and wins Stagg....
New coach replaces new & improved Bishop mascot with
a new Battling Dolphin....
Battling Dolphins now average 42.7 yards a punt....
I could be on to something here....

Why should you go for it on 4th down?

Wes' tweets are protected, so I couldn't see them. Is he coming back? Pops? What's the word?

I wish I knew how to use this quote thingy! 8-)

Anyway, all I can tell you is he doesn't even have his surgery until next week. That is all that I know. Oh yeah, the other thing that I know is, this Wabash team has picked it up and gotten better every week, just as I knew they would!

Is Wabash getting better every week or is each succeeding opponent weaker?

I think Wabash is getting better. Mid-season form is kicking in and we are also seeing more talented teams. Although Kenyon has no wins I think they are better than OWU. It is safe to say Wabash is getting better even if it isn't immediately reflected on the scoreline (even though it is).

Chicago @ Wabash had to play its backup QB had had injuries at RB.

AFL70,

Not sure of your motive here but I guess it is a fair question.  I don't think there is any doubt Wabash has improved each game - really in all areas.  Chase is making much better decisions and I think the coaches have adapted to him from a play calling standpoint.  The O-line has settled in with Durm back from an early season injury and the front 5 is pretty solid & improving (Kitley, Daniel, Durm, Ruddy, and Schaffer).  You take 2 all americans out of the lineup...it takes some time to recover.  Horn has stepped up huge while Krause & Co. continue to settle in as well.

I think WashU will give Wabash all we want tomorrow.  Hopefully the D brings it and Chase has another big day on O.

P.S.  I wish Bash had Case's schedule the rest of the way...   ;)

Do I understand correctly that there is no video of the Wash U / bash game?  ... only audio?

And ... is Rowe going to begin to leave an imprint as perhaps the RB Bash has been working hard to find?  Or are Yoder/Mamberg (one of them) going to become more comfortable (or whatever) with the O line blocking and begin to impact?  Are we going to see passes to the RB out of the backfield as a more often selected play?

Any thoughts concerning the RB position and getting success there?

Still, they are a better team than OWU, by far.

It's a fair question, and one that probably isn't as easy to answer as I'd like.  Having watched every game, either in person or via the intertron, my sense is that the team is getting better.  The first game against Wooster was really pretty dreadful...one of the worst games I've seen Wabash play in a while.  Each week, things that were glaringly wrong have gotten better.  I think it's easy to forget that Wabash was starting this season with a new quarterback, an entirely new offensive line, and a group of new WRs (which was unexpected).  The offense was basically starting from scratch...expectations for the those first couple of weeks may have been a bit inflated (although I think it's a GOOD thing that Wabash fans have high expectations, even of new starters).  The scoreboard isn't going to answer your question because Wabash should win games against OWU and Kenyon and Chicago by substantial margins whether they play well or not....but having watched the team each week, it looks and feels like the group is playing better football, playing with more confidence, executing better, etc. with each passing week.  Which is what you would expect from a group of kids who are largely having their first go around as starters.

Put it back in the deck.  Chicago isn't the only team playing with significant injuries.  Didn't Wabash's qb get knocked out of that game?  Not to mention the players that were already unavailable.  The trainer's table is not an excuse.

Is CWRU any good or are they a product of their schedule?
