Althought it looked like Witt struggled yesterday, a win is a win! I'm sure they'll come out a little more focused and fired up in front of a rowdy crowd in 2 weeks vs those miniature people from Indiana

What's so hard to believe? I won't speak for the Lords...
but, OWU is 12-35 since 2002....The  sound-bite in Delaware
is that Espo threw for 406 yards....that's great...but, when you
rush for 38....that spells "problem" to me.....Jobs available
TU2698? I wonder if  any of us could have a track record like OWU
for the last 9 years and keep our career....

I'm so glad you are a product of Ashland University and have no affiliation with Ohio Wesleyan other than by relation to your pops who played at the school, what, a half century ago?  Oh, but that's right, AUEagle, you have the "pulse" of the program for your prolific posting on the d3boards.  Pull up a stool at the Backstretch and lament with the other townies whose sentence structure is probably a notch above yours.

Why such hostility?  Aueagle has been the biggest supporter of OWU on here.  Facts are facts regarding OWU.  Everyone that posts would love to see the Bishops be competitive.  The question is can that happen under the current regime.  Some might say that question has been answered.
Will be at the Witt-Wabash game.  Been to every NCAC stadium and Witt's is my favorite.  Beautiful!

"Biggest supporter" or "most vocal detractor"?  Indeed, the numbers don't lie.  I'm just tired of the same old song and dance from our friend from Ashland who ultimately has no ties whatsoever to the school or program other than his daddy.

Understand your agony over the program right now, but over the last couple years aueagle has been pretty upbeat about OWU turning things around.  He has certainly given the coaching staff the benefit of the doubt until recently.  How can you be positive with the product OWU has been putting on the field, especially this year?
I have no ties to OWU, but I have seen them play many times and love their field.  Would love to see more games like the night game few weeks ago with several thousand people having a good time.  What would you suggest be done with regards to their football program?

nike: There are some at OWU that think the program is just fine...go figure.
Some will diss the good people of Delaware....now that's a class act, isn't it?
Just when the school is trying to promote goodwill with the city.....
The regulars on D3 know the story...the facts.....we know our football...
A few years ago I got an email from the OWU coach because of what I posted...
Now, someone with 59 posts is frustrated & angry...maybe they are one in the same.
OWU football is a house of cards...and it looks like it is about to cave in.....
But, hey...maybe winning the last 3 games will save....something.
And nike...asking for a solution from the 59 poster? Won't happen...read the past posts...
the goal is to raise static..there is no substance.....GO BISHOPS

I was at the OWU-Allegheny game yesterday...Allegheny set the tone on the opening drive, but OWU comes back with a quick strike to Freshman WR Mogilnicki. At the end of the first quarter the game was tied and OWU was ready for a good game, and I thought to myself that maybe just maybe this will be the first win and against a very good Allegheny team. The offense played good for the most part, but it seemed that the OWU Defense was out of it. The secondary was a mess except for the one intereception that they had that led to an OWU TD. There were too many times that the WR's for Allegheny were way to wide open. The score was 7-7 after the first quarter of play and to have a halftime score of 31-7 is totally unacceptible. 24 second quarter points?? That is not right. The team was deflated in the second quarter. It also seemed to me from the stands that the OWU Offense saw something in the Allegheny Defense that made them pass so much during the contest. 59 pass attempts? No wonder Espo had 406 passing yards. The team looked to have fight and I could tell they wanted this game and that first W of the year. But as I look at this program 0-7 is unbelievable to me. The team is never consistent.

Why so much ripping on AUEAGLE? The guy knows his stuff, he knows the program. The man speaks his mind on what is going on and what needs to be done. All of OWU fans are in this together. These recent posts have almost made us sound like what team is most likely doing pointing fingers at each other for the losses. I wish we could all go to a game together and see each others thoughts during the course of a game. After the game yesterday I was glad a brought a cold 24 pack of some ice cold ale because it drives me crazy this team does not have a W yet. Kenyon is next on the schedule and seems that this may be a bigger game and the Hiram game at the end of the year. A battle of the winless this week at Selby Stadium. 0-14 combined WOW. I just wonder to myself what is it going to take for this squad to get a W. I saw it from the stands and as I strolled to the railing to watch, there are many players that are giving it there all and are trying so hard to get that W. Many players have quit on this team, but for the ones that have stuck through it...you are one damn tough squad. Aueagle I support you 100% Lets go get this one this week against the Lords. Go Bishops!

More of the same from our friend from Ashland University.  (i.e., a series of run-on sentences with a few lame analogies.)  Equally as played-out is continuing to link my knowledge of the program to my number of posts on this board, but you go ahead, Ashland Eagle, you keep on having your fun with that one.

I think the program could benefit from implementing a full JV schedule like it once had.  I'm not sure if they had any games this year, but it would be good to suit up as many non-starters from the varsity squad as possible for JV games against Witt, Capital, Wooster, and any other schools within a reasonable driving distance.  As brutal the Tuesday practice can be for these players who play a full game the previous day, it's beneficial to get them some game experience.

The admissions office has not been friendly to football the past few years, but hopefully this year's incoming class of 55 is a reversal of this trend.  While not they key component to attracting solid players, admissions does play a significant role.  My hope is that the new president has taken a leadership role in this, but OWU admissions needs to realize that the school isn't in the class of NESCAC schools as far as academic standards.  Not even close.  Not exactly sure how you cultivate a more symbiotic relationship between admissions and the football program, but that should certainly be a priority.  Hopefully the quality of this year's freshman class is a good sign.

Just a couple of thoughts for now.  Hopefully by the time I surpass 100 posts I'll gain more credibility and be able to offer more "substance" on this topic.  ;)

I can tell you that from the perspective of most of the veteran posters here on the boards, the way you will gain more credibility is by not making your posts directed in a personal way towards people you may disagree with. ;)  You may vehemently disagree with aueagle or anyone else (heck, that happens to all of us at one time or another on any of these boards), but that is okay, as long as personal insults are not thrown.  It is irrelevant whether or not aueagle's "only connection" to the school was his father - admittedly, I know nothing about that.  However, even if that was, that is absolutely still legit and also because he has followed the program.  As nike and some of the others have mentioned, he has offered his opinions here for a long time and whether you or anyone else agrees with him or not, just because he is perhaps somewhat more vocal than others, makes no difference because he has never crossed that "personal line".  He may not care for the current coaching staff in regards to their style or current approach, but has never (to my knowledge here) been disrespectful in a personal way to them.  Everyone, including yourself is entitled to their opinions, even if they are extremely in opposition to each other; yet keeping it "civil" is the appropriate way.

In regards, to the latter, IMO, your last post was a very constructive one, offering your opinion as to some solutions that you would like to see and that might help OWU improve the program during this unfortunate down years period it has experienced.  If you keep yours more in that vein, you will be more than accepted and respected as a contributing poster to these boards.  I personally have no ties to OWU, however, as a person who loves the history of college football and DIII, I am quite familiar with OWU's history and historic Selby and really enjoy hearing and following the program in a "peripheral way" in that regard. I would like to see it improve as much as you and many others and I hope it does.  Heck, we at Hope are in a similar situation, unfortunately.

Anyway, I hope you will continue to contribute to this board and get to know some of the veteran posters here and they get to know you. Just MO and thoughts from an "outsider" to this particular board.

Why the personal attacks?
Quick question?  You would leave the current coaching staff intact?  Do they have no culpability in the many losses these past years?  I saw them play twice in 2005, when they were 7-3.  What has happened since then?
BTW, what is wrong with Ashland?  Got great friends who went there they win football games.

Fans and supporters mean kids want to come there and others want to donate.

The admissions department serves the University, not the football program. While it is important for admissions to have a good relationship with the athletics department, it is a two-way street.

Most every other OWU program seems to be getting along just fine with the admissions standards. OWU won three straight all-sports awards from 07 through 09. Before then, Denison dominated, and I don't think Denison has looser restrictions on admissions than OWU!

The average GPA of an incoming freshman is 3.4. That's probably in line with the rest of the NCAC.

Recruit kids who fit the profile of a successful Bishop student, and that's what can help the most!

You reference players who have "quit on this team."  Do you mean they have quit the team or that they are still on the squad, but not putting forth effort?  In either case are these primarily upper classmen or freshmen or some of each?

And if true, that does seem to indicate a staff problem.
