Anyone know Fincham's record after a bye?  I think Witt usually has a bye in week 11, not during the season.  I think this is a big advantage along with playing at home next week.

Actually, looking at past schedules, Witt's Bye weeks over the past 9 or so years have been either the 2nd, 3rd or 4th weeks of the season.

This year lined up pretty well for Witt (NCAC gift  ;))  Bye week prior to Wabash in Springfield.

Wabash/Witt has turned into such a great series.   This week cannot go by fast enough.......

To have Witt and Depauw back to back, is what it is all about.

Bishops put it together....the players needed this....
Kenyon snap over the punter, recovered in the endzone &
a INT return for 96 yds for a TD turned into 14 Red & Black points...
Pete Merkle had a hand in 14 tackles for OWU..
Nike: I think you're right...2 wins for the Bishops in 2010

Wally,

Here is a question for the upcoming Wittenberg vs. Wabash. In the early part of the season or maybe the pre-season, you took a poll to determine who would win this game. It would interesting to post that poll and see what changes posters would make, if any?

At the time I think Wabash would win based upon the poll! :)

Wabash's punt block team has to be approaching some sort of NCAA records, doesn't it?  I searched and searched last night and I could not come up anything.

Are Koop's four (4) td's considered simply punt returns for TD's?

Just saw a replay of DJ's interception return, and he got jammed out of a TD.  You're not a defenseless player if you're chasing the ball carrier and you're five yards away.  Seeing it live, I didn't realize that it was Salopek who got destroyed on that block, but seeing it on the replay I've got to agree with Hoffman that if it weren't the QB that got smashed there, it's probably not a penalty.  But after the defense has the ball, the QB isn't a QB anymore...he's a defender and he's fair game, especially if he's in pursuit.  Bad, bad call.

The rule in football that referees used to say before every game all the way back to playing pee-wee.... (Terre Haute Rams..... we rocked)

"While you are on the field of play you must defend and/or protect yourself at all times."

It was a BS call.   Football is changing, flag football here we come.

Call me a traditionalist, but what the heck is a defenseless player inside the field of play?

Players are, and will continue, using techniques ingrained through years of practice and based in action/reaction. Rules have been changed outlawing some of these techniques and the interpretation of these rules has become less objective. The last thing NCAC officials need is more subjectivity in rules enforcement. They struggle enough with the more simple guidlines.

can anyone point me in the direction of a link so I can see this block on the defenseless football player.

Thanks!

I don't know if there is a clip available online yet...I caught the play on the Hometown Sports broadcast replay this morning.

And the referee confused "defenseless" with "didn't see DRW coming".  There's a difference.

Here you go.   http://www.livestream.com/hometownsportsindiana/video?clipId=pla_b81d3e38-2d1f-407d-b9e8-6e415bb172ff&utm_source=lslibrary&utm_medium=ui-thumb

DRW Punt return  -  1:51:20 (worth watching again)

Pick 6 - Horrible call - 2:13:13   (watching it about 4 more times, it is even more embarrassing for this officiating crew)

(Have to let the game load a bit before it will let you go to the times)

I saw the hit.  I'm with you.

To me, defenseless means you are in the act of catching, throwing, engaged with another player, or making some other football-type move.  Defenseless does NOT mean you weren't aware of the guy coming to decleat you.  You are definitely in a position to defend your self from being knocked the hell out, you're just too dumb to realize that somebody is about to give you a concussion.  Stupidity should not be excused on the football field, let alone rewarded with a penalty on the opposition because you weren't paying attention when somebody came to hit you, quarterback or not.

Bashbro - here's an article.  Koop is 1 away from the NCAA D3 record - http://www.thepaper24-7.com/main.asp?SectionID=24&SubSectionID=23&ArticleID=28513  No mention of the team record for blocks in a season.

Another poll that would be interesting...  Who would you rather fight in a bar brawl... CJ Gum or Brad McKinley?   ;D

Is it Saturday yet???

That will quiet the Case boys down a bit.......

24-20 Chicago....

Looks like no playoffs for the UAA this year.  This opens up a spot for a possible one loss Witt team from the NCAC.

I'd be shocked if a 9-1 Case team doesn't get a B
