what does the 2007 team ( which likely has maybe 20 people still on team from '07 and 1 who contributed in '07) have to do with this year ?

I've been looking for concrete information on this for a couple of weeks now, and now that I have it... well, it is a screwy tiebreaker, but don't the power rankings help determine the conference schedule for this year?

In that case, aren't they essentially using this tiebreaker as a proxy for conference SOS anyway?

All I want to know is who the heck was Winston - Salem's special team coach in 1986 and what is he doing now?

26 blocks? Even if that was a bit shaky with tipped balls as a block, that's still mega mega impressive.

I love Koop's punt returns

0 returns for 66 yards and 4 TDs

The average per return melts time...

Millikin over Wheaton
Heidelberg over ONU
Louisiana College over Hardin-Simmons
Randolph Macon over Hampden Sydney
Cornell over Coe
Augsburg over Bethel
Willamette over Pacific Lutheran
Chapman over Redlands
New Jersey over Rowan
William Patterson over Montclair State
Ithaca over Cortland State

Don't forget, you also want Trine (and maybe Franklin) to win their AQ's.

Trine for sure.  I think Franklin falls below Wabash if they lose to Hanover.

Barring upsets, there are likely to be about 10 strong one-loss Pool C candidates.  Just hard to imagine an 8-2 team getting a C bid this year, especially given that one loss is against a comparatively "weak" opponent in WashU (compared to Baldwin-Wallace or Illinois Wesleyan's losses).

WashU weak?  Washington is 7-2 and hasn't lost in two months.  The Bears aren't a bad team.

It may also help if WashU gets to 8-2 and sneaks into the final South Regional Rankings --- makes it even more of a "quality loss".

Welcome to the boards Jon.  :)

Your point is well taken.  However, the power ranking basically assumes that each of the teams (1 through 9) will be in the same relative position of strength to each other from year to year.  The result is that the SOS for a prior year effects what happens this year, and is not necessarily reflective of the actual conference SOS this year.

Right, right... Seems to me the largest problem is that they go so far back for the power ranking to set this year's schedule.  If it was based on last year, it would still be imperfect, but not quite as egregious.

Still, may as well just use SOS in its normal form rather than try and proxy it, I suppose.

Not that it really has much to do with the action this weekend, but Wooster updated their Athletics website, and it looks great. http://www.woosterathletics.com/landing/index

Good luck to all the guys playing in their final games this weekend. What I'd give to be back with them...

Wabash seems to have creative ways to squeeze a little more eligibility for guys... what's their policy on transfers???  :D

GO SCOTS! Here's hoping for a big upset.

Impressive, the OWU athletic department should take notes.  What is the status of the new athletic facilities at COW?

It should be a packed Papp this Saturday.
A number of quality high school players who are looking at Witt will be at the game, as well as players interested in Wooster.  And several players seriously considering both schools.
A Wooster victory is certainly possible, but the Scots will have to play collectively and individually their best game ever.
Going early to eat at the Shack.  Then Papp hotdogs.

Is it going to be Belton and Burke alternating again?

Alternating every series?  I'm thinking not, but I'm almost certain that both quarterbacks will play.

Just don't pull the quarterback that just threw a TD pass.... maybe let him back in the next series, there is a chance he will do it again.... which is a good thing.

In Springfield, ER was alternating the two qbs every series, it seemed to me.  So is the thinking that he will not do that again?  I thought after Belton threw the seventy yarder to Horn that Raeborn should have left Belton in.  Belton was shaking off the rust from a couple weeks out of the line up.  I believe Burke threw an interception on Wabash's next series.  Just my thoughts.
Hope to make the journey to a Monon Bell game one day.

For one its Hanover.  Second, I have been diplomatic all year after all the FC blowouts.  Just trying to stir a little something up.  ;D
