I am taking in the Hampden-Sydney vs Randolph Macon game Saturday.
They say 10,000 for this one at Everett Stadium at HSC.
If I wasn't going to be in Richmond on Friday, I'd be in Delaware for
the final at Selby. I feel for the Bishop Sr's...Hope they get some solid fan
support versus the Puppies....If the game is close OR if the Bishops lose,
OWU looks bad...if the Bishops win big, then, they should have beat a program
like Hiram....but, then a 2-8 record is Hiram like. GO BISHOPS

There are two teams playing Saturday night in Selby both of which could give either Hiram or OWU a game.  Hilliard Davidson (defending state champs) and Springfield HS (the one in Clark County).  I'll be checking out Selby as a HS playoff host.

ADL70: Hilliard Davidson is a very strong program...Their "D" has given up only 66 pts this year....I trust the OWU staff will be recruiting hard tonight, since it's right in their house. This was one of the strong points to obtain lights at Selby...HS playoffs. Enjoy the venue, ADL70...I think Selby is an outstanding playoff choice.

Never say that a rivalry game is a given win. Never...
Always a chance I will be wrong....but I doubt it.  If I am I will eat a whole plate full. ;)

This is ludicrous.  HS teams would not beat D-III teams...at least D-III with decent roster numbers as these two teams have.  You're talking about boys playing football against men.

Exactly. I always chuckle when I hear that type of comment. It's playing against men and coaches who typically know how to coach and scheme. Huge difference.

I would take the Davidson coaching staff in second over the OWU staff! However, I think OWU team would win rather easily!

ADL must not have played football after high school and/or obviously doesn't appreciate/understand the level of player on the field even at the lower DIII programs.

DIII teams, even the bottom rung, are still filled with quality to Top players from their high school teams and would as a group/team handle most top high school teams quite easily.

He is just probably searching for post content now that his beloved CWR team is not going to the AFC Championship game.

This is all conjecture and my guess is he was trying to be funny, but I would take a Glenville or St. Ed's over OWU or Hiram without hesitation.  Talent.  I"ve seen both colleges play and did not see any real schemes.  I've also seen D1 high school programs in Cleveland with more size and talent than those two D3 colleges.  I am not talking about Witt, Wabash or Mt.Union.  But OWU and Hiram, I would take a top flight D1 in a heart beat.
Beautiful weather for tomorrow.  Scots, hope you are ready to make us proud.  You too, Wabash.

I'm guessing that ADL was also just taking a potshot at Hiram/OWU...

I second wally and DPUfan's comments.  A lot of my acquantainces would be surprised to hear that Carnegie Mellon even had a football team, and often I'd be asked if we could beat a high school team.  I'd respond with something along the lines of bashbrother's comment that virtually every key player on Division III teams (even mediocre teams) was a very, very good high school football player - and we were all BETTER players than we had been in high school because we were 2-4 years older/stronger/faster and had improved our football awareness.

Inevitably, they wouldn't believe me, but I was always REALLY frustrated whenever I tried to explain it.  I think most people think of Division III football as either a) an extension of high school football or b) glorified intramurals.  It ticks me off, but that's the way it is.

If the high school team had a couple of Division I prospects, they'd be cancelled out by a college team's superior depth.  OK, so the high school might have two or three guys in the game that are better than everybody on the college team (and even that's debatable whether most D-I prospects are better player at age 17 than good D-3 starters are at age 21).  The college team probably has forty guys good enough to start for the high school team, maybe more.
I was small but made up for it by being slow...

I have to admit that before my son started playing at Wabash, I thought DIII football was just trumped up high school football. ::) I didn't know anyone that had played it and never saw a game. That impression lasted until he was rung onto the team and I got a look at the size of some of his team mates.

I was only referring to OWU and Hiram, again half in jest.  But there are D1 high school teams playing this weekend that are bigger, faster and better coached than a few, not all D3 colleges.  Again, just an opinion from playing and 20 years of watching.
