Is Division III seeing the changing of the guard?  Two consecutive wins over Mount in the Stagg by 10 points?   If they make it 3 in a row next year and with Coppage back, anything is possible, then I believe you can say that Mount has been replaced at the top.

Even though the game was sloppy and turnover ridden, it was still exciting to watch.
Why should you go for it on 4th down?

which is why I guess I don't understand the hatred from a majority of other DIII fans when it comes to seeing these two teams in the game...the games are usually within 2 scores and usually involve explosive offense (UMU 21 PTS in 4 mins...Coppage long running plays)...watching them on the field is truly watching the cream of the crop in DIII and I wouldn't have it any other way...great game by both teams minus the turnover bug that bit both the #2 QB's

Now that Coppage has another Championship ring, maybe he could transfer to Wabash, it's the love of a challenge thing.   ;)

Maybe you should try to get back that one player on defense that Mount had that they kept saying was from Wabash, IN?  :P

MJ, I'm not an expert on Indiana geography, but I believe Wabash College is located in Crawfordsville. The distance between the Cities of Crawfordsville and Wabash is considerable. I think the player was Nick Driskill, the strong safety & a heck of a football player (12 total tackles to lead UMU in the Stagg Bowl).

Got 38 on the Ohio game....I think
I've hit my max...The D3 map has
only one color - PURPLE....UMU & UWW.
One of our off-season topics should be,
who will/could  break in the Top 2 slot...

It'll be tough to do next year.  UWW has the best player in the nation coming back and UMU was a  younger team and returns a whole lot for next year as well.  It's a tremendous challenge for anybody to beat those two next year.  I'd love to see Wabash get into the tournament and take a shot!

IF NCC can adequately replace Wenger (a VERY big if, since he will almost certainly being playing on Sundays next year), they might have the best chance.  NCC held Coppage to barely over one third the yards he got in the Stagg (alas, Wenger had a LOT to do with that).

Wasn't that impressed with Coppage.  Take  away a couple long touchdown runs and he only had about 170 yards rush... oh, never mind.
Seamon would have made a big difference, especially in the second half.  But unfortunatly, injuries are part of the game.
Still, a great game.
Which is more exciting, Monon Bell game or Stagg Bowl? The crowd didn't seem to be that revved up.  Maybe it just didn't come across on tv.  Plus, the crowd wasn't huge.  But that is a long way to go.

I'll let you decide whether you find me and my allegiance objective (15 Bell games, 7 Staggs), but I would say Monon Bell.

There's usually, what, double the number of people at the Bell Game than at the Stagg Bowl? That alone makes the stadium thump a lot more than Salem does. The pulse for Monon is always pounding.

But there was absolutely some noise being made on Saturday! I was walking right in front of the Whitewater stands just before the game started and "Welcome to the Jungle" played through the stadium speakers. The roar that came from the Warhawk faithful was absolutely deafening!

The second half of this year's Stagg Bowl was quieter, but part of that was because there was almost no scoring. Not unlike the far stands this year in Crawfordsville ;)

But you asked which is more exciting. I say Monon, but really, these are the best two games I see every year. They're both awesome in so many ways!

2.7 seconds. An average football player may need more time to score; a great one finds a way. I've seen greatness happen.

Speaking of the crowd, I asked on the other board, but no one answered and I also could not find it listed in the box score.  Do any of you know what was The Stagg Bowl's "official" listed attendance this weekend? ???

It's listed already on D3.com's playoff page as 4,598 -- though I'm not sure where Pat got that figure.

There's no way the crowd at the Stagg bowl will be the same of the Bell, or a St. John's / St. Thomas game in Collegeville or any other rivalry. The fact is that no one is really a home team and fans have to travel - and many ticket holders aren't rooting for either team.

Not to say it isn't a great atmosphere - it's just a different crowd.

North Central & Trine played UWW tough....
The problem is they lose 14 & 25 Sr's....
Trine takes a big hit on that; but right now,
nobody can reload like Mount & UWW.
I thought for a while Ohio Northern was on
the cusp of breaking in, but that was years ago now.

Was the d3football team chosen before or after the Stagg Bowl?
Glad to see a Wooster Scot on the 2nd team.
Great year of NCAC football!
