And how about those NCAC indoor and outdoor track championships.  PLUS a great tennis season as well.  And as a finale ... you do not want to have to wrestle our wrestling team

The upcoming year 2011-12 will be a challenge to raise the bar beyond the heights those of 2010-11 placed it.  But when you look at all Wabash has coming back and couple that with the Rhynes ... which may - just may - be the largest incoming class in a long time .... doable ... yes ... doable  (especially if we go for 2 points for each touchdown against the Dannies).

You're jumping the gun just a tad as Wabash athletes are still competing this week. There are four very hard working Little Giants running in the 2011 Outdoor Track Nationals. Once they have come home as All Americans, we can concentrate on relaxing for the summer! 8-)

Excellent point - heck of a batch of personal and school records fell by the wayside over the past month!  Initially shocked to see Seth take out Dick Bowerman's 39 year, 5000m record, but then thought the bifocals were filthy (per usual) and mistook 400m hurdles for the 400 lineup.  What a comeback - 1st hurdles race since injury, and to qualify as a starter in the field at the NCAA championships?  8-)

Waterman - 800m; Einterz - 5000m; Chamblee - 400m Intermediate Hurdles; McCarthy - 3000m SC (but also qual'd for 800/1500);
Congrats to Coach Morgan and Kevin McCarthy as Great Lakes Region Coach and Male Track athlete of the year, respectively!

+k for genetics, BD-84!  ;)

WAF, and wish all four well at OWU this weekend.

Aueagle,

Have you seen the new scoreboard or heard the new sound system that were rushed into service in time for the track championship?  The scoreboard includes an enormous LED screen that has theater type quality which is just totally unbelievable.  My friends and I were bugging the contractor about when we could see it in use and he invited us to stop by this past Saturday afternoon when they were running it through all of the tests....what an amazing thing.....now the Bishops need to post some scores on the new board.  I'm a track guy at heart so I'm really looking forward to the next three days at Selby.

Work & last minute flight costs killed my plans for track & field...
luvncac: Have not seen the new scoreboard/sound system.....
Read that they were going in....I will have to wait until fall...
Bishops have many night games this year.

Looks like the "Arizona Pipeline" is still producing quality kids for the Little Giants -  Got word today of a new commit.

6' 3" 220 DE   4.8 - 40 yd - Athlete.  From what I was able to find,  he also was very productive a TE for his HS team.

Onward and upward Little Giants.

Why should you go for it on 4th down?

I know pre-season polls don't mean a lot but were others surprised Wabash wasn't listed at all?  8-2 season ending with a 47-0 thrashing of DePauw, CJ Gum returning at MLB, both QB's returning, all of the O-line, Chamblee returns with other very talented WR's, etc.  The D-front has some question marks but have some talented guys.

Bash will be looking at about 150 reporting for camp... I believe 58 incoming Frosh.

WAF!

BB16 -

I was more surprised by a few teams that were listed in the rankings.   One in particular loses almost half their team and they are in the Top 10????   ;)

There again,  the only publication or source that does more then simply look at the final rankings for the prior year to do their pre-season poll is D3football.com.

I like the recruiting numbers and hope the D-Line brings in a couple of studs.   It seems we have a tremendous stable of linebackers,  maybe one or two of them could be put on some high calorie diets and move up a weight class.

bash brother, et al.------Time has arrived for some serious looks at last year's roster to see who may be coming back (without  considering who might have run out of academic or financial qualifications)
Based upon my recollection of 2110 two-deep charts, it would appear that WR, TE, RB and LB are in the "stable" category, QB is in the hands of the Two, and several others who have credentials, but defensive linemen are thin on the ground. Only Pat Clegg and Luke Zinsmaster had significant starting time. There are a lot of names among last year's freshman, hopefully some newcomers, BUT- on the staff is the greatest defensive lineman in Wabash history who may be able to teach them something.
Considering all the linebackers, rather than bulking some people up, sacrificing mobility,  it may be useful to consider a return to a 3-4 setup. It looked pretty good in the days of Adi and Andy Deig, Josh Foster and a stable of others.
Great way to kill time until August!

Looks like a nice class for Hiram......  Big numbers are key...... Let's hope the Terriers can use this class to establish growth for the program!
