Do you think Schweir is going to be the QB or do they go younger and try to build for the future, knowing all that is seemingly stacked against them going in to 2011?

I think as we sit here at the end of June, the job belongs to Schweir.  A lot can change between now and Week #1, though.  The thing is, there are SEVEN quarterbacks returning from last year if they all choose to come back.  I almost wonder if several of them will get a legit chance at winning the job - or we may see several of them throughout the year.  Robby doesn't strike me as rotating QB fan, but it's possible.  Plus, maybe there's a stud in these QB recruits I keep hearing about. It's still far too early to tell that at quarterback, I think.

Yes, Schweir is definitey the guy...tough kid, very capable. As stated by Wes, it's shaping up as a rather strange season...

Happy Father's Day to all those Dads out there in d3boards land! May each day bring you happiness and joy. We all owe a lot to our Dad's. Shoot, some of us probably troll these boards because Dad encouraged us to attend an NCAC institution...

DPU's 2011 season will be a strange one.  DePauw basically flushed a football season to make the switch to the NCAC.  It stinks for the kids on that team this year, but in the grand scheme it was a necessary move which looks even more necessary given the recent full on dissolution of the SCAC.

So DePauw isn't playing for a league championship or an automatic slot in the playoffs...no conference awards, just three home dates...it's the pits basically.  But there is one thing that those kids are playing for and sometime between now and Week 11, we Wabash folks are going to have put 47-0 in the rearview and understand that the 2011 Tigers have just one tangible thing to play for this fall.  Always respect the team that has nothing to lose, and DePauw is going to be that team this fall.  I expect ER will have the team focused and ready when the time comes.

Back to back 47 to 0 would be good.

Yep.  And every time we gratuitously trot out 47-0 that bullseye on our back gets a bit bigger to the kids down in Greendingle who will have little else to play for this fall.

Tons to happen between now and then, but we better be on our game on week 11, or we could be facing a similar fate.

With the SCAC explosion, DePauw may not have had an automatic qualifier opportunity in any event.    Their leadership may have seen the impending iceberg now impacting the "old" SCAC and made a propicious decision ... even if it means no playoff scenario and 3 home games this year.

Instead the Wabash/DePauw Game this year will be like the old times, bp (before playoffs) ... "the last game of the year" ... a bowl game for both.  (Wabash may have the opportunity of going on ... after "the last game of the year" ... but ER will not let Wabash overlook DePauw.)  AND ... DePauw, not having the best team ever in their history on whatever planitary system they live on, ... will not be all glassy eyed from reading their own press clippings.

It makes for THE GAME ... one heck of a starter game for the new era.

They'd have to go 9-0, but they probably still don't get a Pool B because they play a bunch of non-region games.

Are we sure that DPU doesn't get (correctly) reclassified to the North Region this year?  If they aren't tied to a southern conference of any sort, I'd have to believe that the think tank over in Indy can probably look at a globe and get DePauw in the appropriate geographic region.  That would help the non-regional game situation some at least.

The state of Indiana is in Administrative Region #3.  The only north Region Football schools who are not in Region #3 are those in IL, WI and MO (Region #4) except Allegheny.
"Conference games" will define the status of Allegheny for DPU.

SCAC is intact as a Pool A conference for 2011.

If DePauw is reclassified to the North Region this year, even if they don't have an official conference affiliation for 2011 football, the Allegheny game would still be in-region by virtue of being in the same geographical region, yes?

If DePauw is South Region, then the North Region game does not count.

However, NCAC games count as in-region.

Certainly so.

But does DePauw, without 2011 football affiliation, get credit for that being a conference game?  I wouldn't think so because it seems just plain silly that the NCAA would recognize DPU football as a member of the NCAC to the extent that they could count those games as in-region, but still keep them aligned with the South Region.

At least they should have enough guys to signal in the plays.
